Winnebago Arka Tackles the Test Track

[00:00:01][music] >> All right, Kevin McNutt, chief engineer, head bottle washer, all of those things. Uh what are we sitting in and what are we doing?

[00:00:14]This is the new Winnebago Arca and we're going to take a test drive on our track here for showing you what this product is all about. So, the the Arca is um an expedition or an adventure truck uh segment. Um sitting on uh this particular one is the quad cab. Um Ram 5500 chassis. Very good. And then we've got the uh the the bed over or the cab over bed above us. Um we'll probably see some of that uh in this video, but uh Kevin, why don't you take us away here and let's see what we're doing. Let's do it.

[00:00:54]So, the Arca is making its test drives today, but it's been in development for how long?

[00:01:03]This has been in development for four to five years starting out with a lot of customer research and understanding uh what these customers are looking for and how we as Winnebago can meet that need and in the best way possible. There's been a lot of engineering research and development that's gone into this and uh the validation that we do along with our design work to prove that the product is ready to meet and exceed the customer expectations.

[00:01:32]We should point out that uh the Arca comes in two trim levels, uh standard and then this one which happens to be the uh I believe it's called the Overland trim. Overland trim, yep.

[00:01:43]The Overland trim gets you everything you would expect.

[00:01:47]Bigger tires.

[00:01:52]At home at home we call these potholes.

[00:01:55]So, the Overland trim comes with the the lift kit, Box Stop suspension, front bumper, as you mentioned, the 41-in tires, full body paint job, uh different trim levels inside the coach, and we're setting it up so that it can be configured as the customer wants it for their needs, their lifestyle, if they're going to be traveling with multiple people or what gear, cargo they want to take with, the area they want to go to, uh whether it's the environment, temperatures, you name it.

[00:02:27]The Arca is going to be capable of all of that.

[00:02:32]Kevin, talk to us a little bit, please, about the box itself and what you've done so that it can withstand not only this test track, but everything else that America can throw at it.

[00:02:43]Yeah, good question.

[00:02:45]Uh a lot of engineering has gone into this, not only with the mounting of the box to allow it to articulate and handle the off-road rigors, but also for the uh environment, like I mentioned, the insulation R-values in these walls and roof, floor, handle the extreme temperatures. So, it's capable of anything a customer wants to put it through.

[00:03:12]And just like that, we reached the end of the test track.
