We went to see if rural king was still King!Added:
All right, guys. Look where I'm at.
Royal King. I'm excited. Just the parking lot alone is full of such wonderful, fantastic things that I want to look at today. Royal King is like a general store on steroids. The oldtime general store. They started in 1960 in Illinois with a 7,000 ft store and then they grew to now they have about almost 150 locations. This is a old Walmart building, so it's probably 80, 90, 100,000 square foot of Appalachin treasures in here. Uh camping gear. Uh it's chick days. They're going to have chicks here today. Uh we're looking for some cattle gate uh for some trelluses.
We never know what we're going to find, but we're going to check it out. Look who's with me today.
>> Hey, >> I got Mary. And I've even got Dustin over there looking at Cattlegate.
So, we're going to look around and check it out. Get you a cup of coffee and sat down and we're going to look and see what all they got at Royal King today.
You're going to be blown away with the things they've got in here. If you love plants and anything to do with farming or yard uh work or landscaping or whatever, it's going to be amazing today.
Okay, guys. Here is what I really need.
I'd love to have this would make perfect trelluses. For those of you that's been watching the yard to table channel know that I'm growing some stuff and we're going to use this for trelluses. Uh we just can't get it back.
We don't have no way to haul it. It's 16T long and uh they have a wide variety of this stuff here.
34inch panel 16T 25.99.
This would work.
Uh these 34 This would work perfect. These 34 inch ones.
Um, yeah. Perfect.
So, look, Mary, they've got a windmill.
>> I know.
>> Wonder what one of them rascals cost.
>> I don't know, but you need one.
>> I I need one. Let's go check it out. I mean, you know you're at the right place when you find a what?
>> Does it got a price on it? No.
>> No price.
A lot.
>> A lot.
>> My guess.
>> If you got to ask a price, you can't afford it.
>> That would be my guess.
>> Yeah. All right.
Shade trees.
44.99 and up.
>> Pink dog wood.
>> So, those cattle gates are 34 in. We set them post 24 in apart. So, we got 48 in in there. That would work.
>> Be an overlap.
>> Well, there'd be a g a gap in between them a little bit. Look, they've even got some small ones down here. Maybe just for that. That is trellis stuff.
Some wood barrels. I Okay, guys. Okay, guys. It's going to be a little wild today because I'm going to be here, there, and everywhere. We're going to look at a lot of stuff. If you love stuff like this, you're going to have a good trip today. Okay, right here's something I bought. You guys recognize this pot here at the house?
Oh yeah, >> that one might be a little smaller, but I paid $25 for the one I bought.
>> Oh wow.
>> Now, this is probably a small little bit smaller. Few gallons smaller, but uh the barrels are cool. $60.
>> And then look at these little trelluses.
tomato cage stackable.
So, look here. It's a four piece.
Look at that.
That's pretty neat.
We could go with something like that, but it ain't quite as impressive. I believe it's a little easier. Not quite.
>> This is nice. This would be great for tomatoes, though. Look at that. $10.99 for those that's growing tomatoes. Check this one out over here. This must be for tomatoes, too. Check this. Or pots or something. What's this for, guys? I don't know. This one's uh I guess you could grow a tomato up in this. Would that be it?
>> I would think so. I mean, it's >> that would be pretty cool.
>> That pot >> tomato cage >> that Dustin got. It's kind of got that kind of cage around it.
>> It does. And now here's raised beds, guys. Um, tater. 4 foot oval raised bed.
>> Tartar.
>> Tartar. Okay. Tartar. That's uh must be a brown name. Tartar. Okay. I was thinking it was a tater bed. That may be a tater bed. You can grow some ters in there. Okay. So, >> you can.
>> So, this gives you an idea on what raised beds cost.
This one's $149. It's two foot by six foot. This is a good heavyduty sturdy bed. What do you think? That was nice.
>> But way way more expensive than what I'm using currently. So, here's a 3 foot by 8 foot.
Very nice. I like that. But, uh, $200 for that one. I've got a 4 foot by 12 foot flimsy metal one that will hold the dirt that cost $100. So, and I bet they have those inside, too. Those are more that you put down uh or put together.
So, they got farm equipment. I don't know. We You reckon we're going to need one of these uh cultivators here?
>> Maybe eventually.
>> Eventually. All right. She's She's got hope for the future that we're going to grow this thing into a a big >> That's pretty. He's got a flower.
>> Fruit trees. These would be peach trees.
Uh they'll produce fruit. Some peach trees are ornamental. They don't really produce fruit.
>> They got some bigger blackberry plants and stuff here.
>> Oh, here's your merry >> gold9 for the bigger ones.
>> Wow, those are nice.
>> Got some more here. They've had some problems not watering their plants, too.
Red chili. That's peppers. Look, they died out. They did have peppers.
Maybe >> they've got some merry golds over here.
>> Oh, do they? Merry goals. Oh, they do, don't they?
>> They're not. That >> They're not looking too healthy, though, are they?
>> Some of theirs look >> Look, this is Look at Look what the cold weather did last night to these. See, these got left out. The cold weather got all of it pretty much.
This This is from the cold weather out here right here.
Cold weather damage. Now, what's this?
These are cute. That looks like some kind of Now, that's See, this survived through the cold weather. So, we know this would live. Now, >> silver dust.
>> What?
>> Silver dust.
>> Silver dust.
>> See how it looks kind of silvery?
>> I've never heard of silver dust. Have you ever heard of that, guys?
>> What is it?
>> Silver dust. It's It's kind of pretty, but it's It's See, I can tell what survived in the cold out here last night. Like this right here is >> what it was.
>> This survived in the cold, but this didn't see this. Nope. We found all kinds of wire in here, but we don't know how to get into this cage. So, I'd like to see some of this wire. Maybe they got some other cattle stuff over there. You see a gate to get in here?
Go around >> this way.
>> I think we have to go back out right here.
>> Oh, back around. Okay.
All right, guys. Yeah, the the cold weather last night has devastated their plants. Uh the merrygo held up, though, but they're still not as big as I'd like to get them. I'm not ready to plant them right now. Unfortunately, we don't have nowhere to put them. So, oh, they they actually sell tractors here. fullsize tractors.
There's a trailer. We could get that stuff home on a trailer.
>> I bet you Terry might have a trailer. He want to still get that if we could find some of that 36 in or 34 in whatever that was.
>> Yeah.
>> Or we might can do like you said, we might can put in the van, hang it out the back door side cuz it only had a few feet, I think.
Oh, I've seen this on some videos.
People using Happy Frog potting soil.
Think that's fog manure.
>> I have um I don't know.
>> Fox Farm. Now, they have a wide variety of different dirt here. Well, they call it soil. I keep want to call it dirt. All right.
We're going to look at some of this wire in here because we've bought quite a bit of wire trying to find something to make the trelluses with. And uh we find that it's cheaper here. Like this would work, but I just don't like how this all bends up like this.
>> Flex is too easy.
>> Flex is too easy. Yeah. The cattle panels so far is our best option. They have a wide variety of different wire.
And this is a 12 gauge wire. And what we bought before was actually a um 14 gauge. Here's a pretty good looking wire dust. And it's almost looks like it's um it's lighter weight, though.
>> Yeah. This looks like what I got yesterday.
>> Yeah.
So, we're going to have to uh decide on trying to get the cattle panels um and try those.
Problem is is hauling them to our property. They're 16t longs. So, I've got a van that we can haul 12T in or maybe we can borrow a uh maybe we can borrow a trailer from somebody. We'll figure it out. But the thing is I don't think they have those threeoot ones in the falllet, do they? The three pound.
>> I don't know.
>> You didn't look at them.
>> I didn't think they were an option, so I didn't time to look at them, you know.
>> Okay. All right. So, they got some more stuff out here. Chairs. Oh, there's some of the gates put the the coupoops put together down there.
>> I think that one of the far ends the one that you just looked at that with the that chicken run.
>> Yeah.
Okay. So, I found some cucumbers that's just planted. Look, we've got some like that.
>> Mhm.
>> And that's $5 for that one cup.
These are Boston pickling strawberries. So, they do have some uh cucumbers. And here's some more cucumbers, but we do have some started.
So, I don't think we'll have to buy any of those. Here's some green peppers.
Think I'll wait on buying any more peppers until we're ready to plant them.
Uh let's go see what they got over here.
Catnip. Here you go, Mary. There's just some catnip for your cats.
>> Oh, yeah.
>> I'm not for sure what that does to them.
>> They love it.
>> Oh.
So, this is we got some of this lavender and haven't plant it. So, yeah, we're not looking to buy a whole lot today due to the fact that we don't have a lot of places to plant it.
>> That's what Dustin bought.
>> Yeah, >> looks like they sold all them out. That was a good seller for them.
They don't have no more of those big ones.
Broccoli. We just planted some of that.
Kale. Here's curly kale. They got different kinds of kale. That's curly kale. I didn't know that. Cauliflower.
More tomatoes.
Okay, here's something we've been using.
We just went through a whole bag of it.
Uh seeding mulch with TAC. Gardening safe.
Um processed straw with tacifier.
It's for seeds. protects uh grass seeds from heavy wash out. Biodegradable, no mess. This might be okay.
>> I bought some at uh Lowe's last night.
It's $16.99 there. Yeah.
>> Well, a different brand. Yeah.
>> Supposed to be >> I'm using as mulch. $8 on it.
>> I thought it was supposed to be $8. They got a sale paper or something around here.
>> If it's $8, I'll get a few of them. But this is on sale. This is a good deal for >> Paul in the way.
>> Well, we'll look around inside. We might find it.
He said it's on sale for $8, so that'd be good. We buy several of them. Don't think we can get many of them in there, though.
Pete lamps. Bruder lamps.
Poultry kit. We bought one of these already. We paid $2 more for it at Tractor Supply.
heat lamps. This is probably a pretty good deal on them.
>> Game is showbird starter grower.
Um, this is good for we're going to get we got um feeasants coming, which we've already got food for the feeasants and we got food for the chicks if we get them.
to the bar.
>> All right. Here's the glove department, the clothing department. There it is. It is on sale like he said right there.
Save.
Save $4.
We can get some of this in the back, but we really don't need it at the moment.
It's a thing. But it's six. It's almost half price.
Here it is. They selling. So these are these are all onions.
>> This is a purple and I think these are this is this is white Bermuda I guess.
So they sell the uh what do you call these? I call them sets. I don't know. Onion sets.
They got potatoes down here.
I guess that's 99 cents a pound.
Got clothing.
Lots of safety stuff. Car heart boots.
Oh, look at the seeds. They got >> They got everything, don't they?
Here's some chairs. I've not seen any of these type of chairs in a long time. Mary, look at this.
>> What is it?
>> I love those chairs. You need some of those.
>> I need some of They're $25 a piece.
>> They're good chairs.
>> Are they? What makes you think they're better?
>> I've got some. They just last. They're just good chairs.
the old old school chairs.
>> Now, this is wide. These are extra wide.
Look at that.
>> That's another thing.
>> Oh, wow.
>> Now, fishing tackle. Dustin's over here in the gun department, I bet.
Look at this.
>> Look at that, Mary. Ain't that cute? For a little girl.
>> Little girl that wants to be a cowboy.
Look at the old Tommy.
>> Well, she'd be a cowgirl.
>> A cowgirl. There you go. You're right.
I'm wrong. Oh, check over here. Check this out. Oh gosh, how cute.
>> You remember those?
>> 4 foot area there. So, just >> I remember these as a kid.
>> Cap strips.
Guess that's rubber bands for these guns down here.
And uh well that's a blast from the past. Oh, they've even got some pink ones down there for the girls that wants to become hunters.
Okay.
Not for sure what that one is.
All right. Rule King batteries. We just bought a new battery. Says starting at $29.
>> 300 cranking amps. We paid $55 for one.
I don't know if these are all $24. It just says starting at 29. So that kind of gets you wondering if they're like these are 235 cranking amps. I don't see a price on them necessarily.
Maybe it's back here.
Nope.
Don't know.
Automotive section. Looks like over that way.
Here's some more signs. I like signs.
>> Oh, wow. Smokey.
>> That's been a minute.
>> Yep.
That's not a bad deal.
>> No, that is nice.
>> Now, is it wood or >> No, >> it's made out of I don't know, but I think it is wood.
Yeah.
Some of them's made out of composite plastic and those will last forever.
>> I think that's what that is.
>> Uh, no.
>> Like wood. I think that's real wood there. Yeah, >> I think.
>> Yeah.
So, that's not bad price for $99. I like it.
>> Yeah, that's nice.
>> Smokers and grills.
Probably could use some >> toilet paper and paper towels. You always need that.
>> There's something we need.
>> This is what you need.
>> We're out of that now. Hold on to that one. We'll forget it. We can carry that around.
>> Okay, guys. Here's something that is interesting.
This is not a flower pot, but it could be used as a raised bed. And I'm going to do that on some of the ones I've got. I've got some a little bit bigger than this. And we're going to fill them up uh with we're going to put holes in the bottom of them.
And probably we'll use the bottom of it setting like this as a drip tray for the water to go into.
So this is one of the things we're going to do. We're going to have to start filling some of these black tubs we got up. And see this will be a bottom drip tray down here for the water and keep a little water. And we know if this is dry, >> we'll need to add a little water.
>> It'll be almost like an auto feeder >> almost. Yeah, >> we could we maybe could water from the bottom up on some of it. Oh, here's a bigger one. Look at this one. This one's only $18.99 and this has got to be So, we just bought one of those to put chicken >> 40 gallon >> 40 $18.99. That's about $5 cheaper than anywhere else that we just bought some of these. I think we bought a clear one for the uh chicks that we're going to get eventually. Oh, here's something's good.
Advil 491. Yeah, we always need these.
So, let's start us a buggy here. You know, with a sun like Dustin, you got to have a lot of Advil. Gives you headaches a lot.
>> You say that as I'm loading the buggy.
>> Oh, yeah. Oh, I didn't know you was here.
Oh, that's right. You're going to edit this anyways. You'll have heard it anyways. Here's some vinegar. I know it's useful for something. I forget what we needed it for. We needed it one day.
>> It's good for cleaning. Was it for cleaning something?
>> Um I don't remember what we need vinegar for, but >> we were talking about it, I think, for spiders or something.
>> Oh yeah, guys. If it repels spiders, vinegar, let me know. I don't know. We was talking about it one day. That's the first time I've really seen it just setting out a big commercial onegon jug of it. But now here's some lenderman stuff. And now this is good stuff. these brushes. I like I like my brushes now.
I've got quite a collection of brushes.
Check one like that right there out.
Ain't that something?
Yep.
Oh, garbage cans. Look at this. The metal ones.
Yeah. Good thing we didn't bring the trailer or the van with us today.
>> That would have been bad.
>> Could have could have been bad.
trying to limit trying to limit the spending a little bit. Now we're trying to cut back on the uh video project spendings and try to get the videos going. So I think we got about everything we need. Um 90% of it, but we're still going to have to buy a lot more stuff. So you I didn't see the baby chicks nowhere.
That way >> we're looking for baby chicks.
All right, guys. We're looking at some thermometers and some clocks. And Dustin's looking at one. It says it goes to what now?
>> This is a hydrometer.
Indoor outdoor temperature. I don't know.
>> It tells your humidity. And what' you say? Temperature and humidity.
>> Well, that one does. This one is labeled a little different. This one has a a humidity meter. It's a little different.
I don't I don't know.
>> This one's pretty cool. I like this one.
See this green one?
>> Yeah, >> you really can't see it too good.
But yeah, that one's cool. Oh, this one's nice. I do like that one.
Yeah.
Oh, it's $20, though.
Okay, we don't need it that bad. It's We'll think about that one.
>> Is getting so bad. There's you an easy reader.
>> 1749.
flags, scratch grains, chicken food. So, yeah, I think we might be getting closer to the live chicks if they got them. They might have done sold out.
Nope. Up here, I think might be them.
Let's go see if they still got any left.
All right, guys. Here we go.
See what they got here.
599 females. They'll get 6 to7 pounds buff or pentitons orans. No, I can't pronounce that. No clue.
Ain't they cute?
>> They got red stars and the black >> homesteading book.
>> That's a good one.
>> Mhm.
>> I like that chicken.
>> Well, you can see they've sold out of a lot of stuff. Empty. Empty.
>> This one here. Don't know what these are.
Let's see.
Rust. Rustic rock. old >> white leg horns. They get four to >> eight pounds.
>> Little turkeys.
>> Turkeys.
>> Oh, okay.
Broad breasted white turkeys. $11.99.
So, for those that's wondering what birds cost now, they're about $6 here.
That's pretty cheap, especially since they are uh females. You don't want roosters. I don't want roosters. They don't lay eggs and all they do is crow and wake up in the morning. So, so I just found out they keep these year round and um they uh will have them anytime we need them.
So, we're not going to get them today.
might be having to come by and get some cattle panel if we can't find it. What'd you get there? What'd you find?
>> Well, I found something I might wait on, but uh something I I kind of like. I'll have to wait on them, though.
>> Bloating targets.
>> Yeah, we ain't got a rain day coming up, so I'm going to wait on that.
>> Oh, those are neat. That's a good one.
>> Yeah, that's bigger than >> glow in the dark.
>> Glow in the dark.
>> Don't know that that matters, but >> Well, it might. It could help them being glow-in-the-dark.
They're bad to end up drowning theirelves sometimes. Let's go right down this aisle right here and see what they got.
More lamps.
I used to have ones like this back when I raised birds. We had bigger ones when I had a lot of birds. We used to have hundreds of birds at a time just for the kids, just for pets. Turkeys, ducks, emus, geese, peasants, quails, uh pigeons, peacocks, emuse.
We had a lot of different birds. So, yeah, I've raised a lot of different birds over the years. Um, >> now you showed me where you had them.
>> Yeah, I got pictures of all of them.
We're going to Mary's going to help me dig out some pictures. I've got some pictures and video. Oh, look that.
That's a That's a box, I guess. Landing box, wooden nesting box.
>> Oh, look here.
>> Yeah, those are about 50 cents a piece.
I remember when you could buy a whole dozen of eggs for 50 cents a piece.
Well, that's generally what they sell for a lot of places, but let's see here.
Trays. 20 trays for 13.49.
I'd have to divide that out, but yeah, one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine. Yeah, almost 50 cents a piece bottle in bulk just for the cartons. So, yeah, that's not uh these are different a little bit different type cartons.
Never seen something quite like that.
Baby chick starter home right here. The whole home. See? Just a little cardboard box.
So, if you guys raise chickens, let me know. If you've raised any chickens, if you currently have chickens, let me know. Uh we're going to get a couple chickens. And I saw pastor preached about uh Palm Sunday and uh today. and he was talking about the uh donkey that Jesus rode in on the colt. Might I'd like to have a miniature donkey. I've never That's one thing I've never had is a donkey. So, that might be cool. A miniature donkey.
Um they got all kinds of wire in here. It's a good thing this place ain't close to home. I'd be here all time.
Maybe they're hiring. Maybe I can get me a job here.
Um, oh, okay. Here's the pet stuff. Now, we do need a collar for Angel. She needs a tick collar.
>> Oh.
>> So, let's see if we can find Angel a tick collar.
We have forgot about her this year. And she's never had ticks before. She's uh she'll be three this June and we've never had any issues with ticks with her, but we're starting to get a few this year. So, this must be some kind of alalfa hay to feed them. They've sold out of that one. This is salt blocks.
This is the horse stuff in here.
>> So, I guess if we if we did have a a little miniature donkey, we would have to come get stuff like this.
>> Yeah.
>> So, so yeah, if you got a miniature donkey you'd like to donate, let me know.
Um, cats there. That's uh something that a lot of people have.
Cats and kittens. Dogs. Dog food.
Uh gosh, they got a huge supply of different types of dog food here.
This this whole department just for the cat and dog food's bigger than most retail stores. Um, I wish I knew what I could get Angel to eat that would uh help her to keep her from scratching her ears. She has a bad problem with allergies, her ears, her licking her belly. We've gave her probiotics. We've bought all of that stuff to give her. We've gave her taken her off chicken, taking her off something else, but yet old dry dog food. We took her completely off dog dog food. Thought that would cause her was causing the itch. No, she's still itching weeks after no more dried dog food. So, we put her back on the dry dog food and then now still itching. We took her off chicken a couple of different times and still don't give her a lot of chicken. We originally thought it was chicken, but even with her not being on chicken, she still gets the problems with the um licking, scratching her ears, licking her belly, things like that. We need a collar for the dog. Uh I don't see no collars. I thought they'd be in here. I don't see no collars or nothing for dogs.
Maybe it's in the middle.
bird, consumables, pet, baby chicks.
>> Oh, there she found them.
>> Mary found one.
>> There's a couple. I'm not sure which one you want.
>> How much is that one?
>> This one's 1999 months.
>> Okay. T Flyn and Tick.
Where'd you find them at? Let's look and see what they got.
>> Oh, wow. They don't have much of a selection of >> Yeah.
>> Yeah. Fle tick one. Then there's this one.
>> Small and medium.
>> Okay.
>> I think you have to take these up front.
>> Okay.
>> Get them. Oh, I see.
>> Okay. So, they're not maybe sold out.
>> Here's 45 to 88 for that one.
>> Pounds at the weight.
>> Yeah, >> they are sold out. Cesto for the large dog.
This must have been if that says Sesto, then this was out of place. So, we have time for a large dog.
>> This I don't know what brand this is and how much it is. Don't show.
>> And then here's the kind that you just put between their shoulder blades.
>> And they don't have to have a >> Is this for large dogs here?
>> Small to medium dogs.
>> Is this large here? small to medium.
>> What size weight does it go up to?
>> She's 60 lbs and not going to work. So, it's not going to be a go on here.
They've sold out of all the I guess spring coming ticks came out and everybody come bought their dog something. So, >> up there.
>> What's this?
This is Wait, wait. Here we go. Large and extra large.
>> Oh, you found some up there. Okay, >> see what we got up here.
>> Ah, they're up on the top shelf.
>> This one says for a large to extra large dog sits up to 25 in Nick. I measured hers the other day. It was 20 in. Her neck's 20.
>> So, this should reduce down. Okay, let's get this one for her.
What are you doing looking for Angela treat or a toy?
>> But apparently everything I pick up she's going to destroy. She would she I've bought her these before and she'll chew on them for a while. But yeah, anything plastic she can get her teeth into, she'll have it destroyed in an hour.
>> Bark bone. It breast bark.
>> I don't know. Peanut butter.
>> Oh, >> flavor.
>> Yeah. Nah, she's good. She She does good chewing on pieces of wood. She likes the wood we have. So, let's look at some of the candy they got here. See if they got any oldfashioned candy.
>> This is some old classics right here.
You find something you want?
>> Oh, yeah.
>> All right.
>> A chocolate caramel trail mix.
>> Okay.
Royal King Winter Green.
Don't know.
Chocolate covered raisins. Oh, they got it. boxes of it. Just fell by here.
>> I locked I locked the wagon.
Watermelon taffy $6.99.
Gumballs $30, soft and chewy.
Really delicious.
What do you think? You think they're any good?
Well, I I'm not crazy about licorice myself, but if if you like licorice, I'm sure they're great.
>> Well, I'm not for sure.
>> Oh, they got a lot of clothes. This looks like the women's section here.
>> All right. They got pig ears. You can buy them by the pound. Uh I don't know.
She see these she could chew up and they're designed to chew up and they wouldn't hurt her probably. So, let's get her some of these and then I don't have to these are biodegradable. I don't have to clean them up off the yard.
So, there we go.
>> Now, okay, let's go over here to where the straws at. Let's get some of that straw.
>> Let me move this.
>> All right.
Get one of them for now. We don't have room. This >> one. Okay.
>> Guess we'll find a line.
Thank you.
>> Thank you.

Well, that was Rule King and um I was a little disappointed. They were not stocked like they had been when I was here before. There's a lot of empty shelves, so they might have just sold out of some things. But we did find a deal on this seating mulch for $8.99 and we just paid $15.99 for a close to the same brand, I'm going to think. And uh so we got that. Make sure to uh hit the subscribe button. We've got the Appalachian channel with John Ward and we also have the uh new channel Yard tot Appalachian Homesteading. So make sure to like that channel, subscribe to it, and we also have a Facebook page for the Yard to table channel. So guys, thanks for watching.
Thanks for going shopping with us today.
We'll see you on the next video. Come by Mary.
>> Bye Mary.
