The Indian Prime Minister participated in the grand ceremony marking 75 years of the inauguration of this restored shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva.
At the Somnath Temple, Prime Minister Modi witnessed a magnificent confluence of pride, valor as the Indian Air Force's Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team showcased a breathtaking fly past using indigenous smoke pods.
The jets of the Surya Kiran team released saffron, white, and green smoke to create the image of the tricolor in the sky. Take a look.

The Prime Minister received a traditional welcome by devotees playing drums. After entering the temple, he also performed the Maha Puja and Jalabhishek, which is the ritual of pouring holy water over the Shivling and the chanting of Vedic mantras. The Prime Minister hailed this as one of the most emotional and unforgettable moments of his life.
>> [snorts] >> Addressing a public gathering later, the Prime Minister stated that he was overwhelmed by the immense energy and enthusiasm shown by Lord Somnath's devotees. He also expressed joy on reliving the moment which India's first president must have experienced during inauguration of the rebuilt temple in May 1951.
On this occasion, the Prime Minister asserted that no power in the world can force India to bow down as he recalled that India conducted nuclear tests in Pokhran on this very day in 1998.
He highlighted the manner in which India held its own ground despite imposition of sanctions back then.
Prime Minister Modi also launched a commemorative postal stamp and a 75 Indian rupees coin showcasing the rich legacy and spiritual significance of the Somnath temple. It's important to note here that the Somnath Amrit Mahotsav, which commemorates 1,000 years since the first attack on the temple by invaders in 1026, as well. Additionally, Prime Minister Modi hoisted the sacred flag atop the Somnath Temple, and he described the flag as a temple as a symbol of triumph of faith across India.
According to him, it's a divine proclamation of the collective consciousness of countless Indians, and will continue to inspire every citizen.
>> [music and singing] >> The Prime Minister's visit also featured a massive road show on the way to Somnath Temple, where he was accompanied by the Gujarat Chief Minister and the Deputy Chief Minister.
A large number of people lined up along the route, waving flags, raising slogans as the convoy passed through.
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister also paid tributes to India's first Deputy PM and Home Minister, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
Prime Minister Modi lauded his decisive role in the temple's reconstruction, and reiterated his commitment to realizing his vision for the nation.
