This video examines two interconnected political issues in Michigan: the $20 million grant scandal involving Governor Gretchen Whitmer's friend Fay Beydoun, who was charged with 16 felonies for misusing state funds, and the ongoing controversy over voter registration integrity, where the Department of Justice has requested voter rolls to investigate potential non-citizen voting, prompting Republicans to call for DOJ investigation into Whitmer's potential involvement and Democrats to resist by claiming the investigation threatens voting rights.

🚨"Her Friend STOLE $20M then DONATED to Her" - Whitmer PANICS as Calls for DOJ InvestigationHinzugefügt:
And we're back. And we're back, y'all.
Thank you for watching today. Go ahead and hit that like button, my people. You know that it helps us out a ton. And of course, it helps you because it helps us keep bringing you these stories every day. Now, y'all, do you remember a few weeks ago when your girl Gretchen Whitmer, the governor of Michigan, when it came out that her friend had stolen $20 million from the state? Do y'all remember that? Yeah. her friend, someone who had campaigned for her, someone who had donated to Gretchen Whitmer's campaign as well, someone that Gretchen Whitmer had appointed to office in the state. She stole $20 million from the state as well. Dur kind of during that time period, right? That's what the allegations are anyway. And now Republicans in the state are asking the United States Department of Justice to investigate your girl Whitmer, y'all.
They're like, "This is fishy. Maybe we should look and see if Whitmer had anything to do with this, if she had any knowledge of this." So, we're going to take a look at that story today, y'all, that Republicans are calling on the United States Department of Justice to investigate your girl. And not only that, y'all, but the Michigan voter fraud and Michigan voter fight continues. We're going to get the latest on that. If you remember, the Department of Justice is already looking into Michigan and demanding their voter roles. That fight is heating up with the state's Republicans also weighing in, trying to make sure that people who shouldn't be voting aren't. They have actually found people who shouldn't be voting who are voting, y'all. So, we'll take a look at that as well, y'all.
Without further ado, let's go ahead and get into it. The >> Senate Republican leader and candidate for governor, Eric Nesbbit, has sent a letter to the US Department of Justice seeking an investigation of Governor Gretchen Whitmer.
>> And specifically, Nesbbit wants to know whether Governor Whitmer played a role in the approval of a $20 million grant to FA Bun. Bun once hosted a fundraiser for the governor, who later appointed her to the Michigan Economic Development Corporation board. She was recently charged by the attorney general for misusing grant funding on personal expenses. Court documents show Bedun spoke to lawmakers and state officials before the grant was approved in 2022.
She also claimed to have met with Governor Whitmer. Dana Nestle says there is no evidence that meeting took place or that the governor knew Bedun planned to misuse the funds. However, Nesbet says that Nestle's relationship with Whitmer is a conflict of pardon me, Bido's relationship with Whitmer is a conflict of interest and necessitates an outside inquiry. The governor's office is not responding to a request for comment, but the Michigan Democratic Party says that Nesbet is an ineffective Senate leader with low polling numbers in his bid for governor who is trying to make headlines. Just as a quick reminder y'all, FA Bay Dune, who is apparently a BFF, a friend, a road dog of Gretchen Whitmer, stole those $20 million. Now, she's under investigation, y'all. And uh let's just refresh your memory about the details of that. And then we're going to move on to the voter situation in in in Michigan as well.
>> A major state grant scandal. 7 News Detroit. The only camera in the courtroom today as a prominent Metro Detroit business leader faced more than a dozen felony charges. Thank you for joining us. I'm Simon Shaette. This is a story our seven investigators have been following for months, including reporting from Ross Jones last August about a controversial $20 million state grant and how it was handled. Now, Febe Dune is charged with 16 felonies, including criminal enterprise and forgery. Prosecutors say she misused a $20 million state grant meant for economic development and instead used it for personal gain.
>> Fabbe Dune is facing 16 felony charges.
She was arraigned here at the 47th District Court in Farmington Hills. Now, if she is convicted of the crime she's accused of, she faces decades in jail.
Febbeun sought and received a $20 million Michigan enhancement grant from the state legislature where she operated a criminal enterprise. On Wednesday, state attorney general Dana Nestle laid out her case against Fay Bayun. Nestle said back in 2022, Beun used deceptive measures to receive a $20 million state grant for her company Global Link International, which had a Farmington Hills address.
Nestle says Boom did not use that money for what it was intended for, but instead used it for personal gain and to fund her $550,000 annual salary.
>> So, Harit Dylan, who is a high ranking Department of Justice official in the United States DOJ. She's calling on Michigan to turn over their voter roles so that the Department of Justice can ensure that they are clean. Michigan has been fighting back against that and it looks like there may be some threats whether public or behind the scenes that the DOJ may have to do a Fulton County style raid on Michigan. But yeah, Har's like, "Yeah, we want to take a look at your voter roles." And as you're going to see in the next segment, not this one, but in the upcoming segment, there are documented cases of people who should not be allowed to vote who are voting. And I think the state that you're locking headwoods with that's important to call out is Michigan. So you have a letter that you sent to the county clerk and you want the ballots from the November 2024 federal election in Wayne County, but you've got Governor Gretchen Whitmer refusing to hand over the data. She says that the DOJ is trying to take away the constitutional rights of people in Michigan to vote. It it just seems that there is a reason here that is deeper than that. Uh she's accusing the president of weaponizing the Justice Department. Talk to us about how Gretchen Whitmer has any legal authority to prevent you from seeing these records. Harmine, >> the idea that anybody like Gretchen Whitmer can talk with a straight face about weaponizing the Department of Justice after the revelations that we've seen out of this Department of Justice in recent weeks is really laughable. But that be that as it may, just looking at the logistics here, she sent this letter the attorney general of Michigan. Uh, a lot of bombast posturing and hand waving, but that's a distraction from the fact that she doesn't seem to actually have a client here. It's not clear that she's representing Wayne County. And we have a right to get these records from Wayne County. And our citations in our complaint, our our letter complaining about why we need this include uh three instances, at least three instances of uh improper voting conduct in that jurisdiction from the 2020 election, as well as uh alle alleged improprieties that I think I and other election lawyers identified very clearly in prior elections, including the 2020 election where in Michigan uh observers who are entitled to observe by law were barred from doing so. And so, uh, we intend to get these records and we intend to get to the bottom of what's going on with these sloppy recordkeeping and inconsistent procedures in these states because what happens when you have these types of loosey goosey procedures is >> people lose confidence in the outcome of elections and then they don't. That's a bipartisan problem and we need to put a stop. So, one investigation in one in one Michigan county has actually found people who are verified not to be eligible to vote, who have been registering and who have been voting.
Now, we've showed you in previous videos how Michigan lawmakers found out how easy it is for people to register to vote, even with fake information. Like, people who don't even exist can register to vote. So, it may be no surprise that when you do look at the voter roles, you find people on there who should not be able to vote.
>> Michigan Secretary of State Joselyn Benson is now providing an update after allegations that non-citizens were found on Mcome County voter roles. County Clerk Anthony Forini, a Republican also running for Secretary of State, found 15 people through the jury duty process who were identified as non-citizens. He said that some of them potentially voted. The Michigan Bureau of Elections reviewed that information and concluded that only three have voting history. One is a US citizen and one is an apparent non-citizen who did vote in at least the 2018 election, but that had their registration be canled in 2022. And the third person who voted in 2024 is still under review. Benson, a Democrat running for governor, says that non-citizen voting is rare and some eligible voters have been shown to be ineligible in the past due to a clerical error. I've long said we need to conduct these reviews thoroughly and carefully. And this is why because these accusations have real consequences for real people. We have removed more than 1.1 million outofdate registrations from our voter roles that we have done legally and carefully to ensure that every eligible citizen is able to vote.
>> Now, Republicans in the state are calling for a change to the voter system, what they call common sense changes. It appears that the Democrats are resisting these common sense changes and instead framing all of this as the Trump administration attacking Michiganders right to vote, y'all. So, those are the two battle lines that have been drawn as of now. Tonight, we told you the Democratic state lawmakers in Lancing have introduced what's called the Michigan Voting Rights Act, which aims to enshrine certain voter protections into Michigan law in response to federal election changes.
>> However, tonight, political reporter Remington Hernandez tells us House Republicans say they want other simple common sense election protections.
>> Republicans pressing the Senate to take up two voting bills that already passed the House.
>> Are you concerned about the November midterms? Do you think that they are going to be safe and secure?
>> Well, they'll be secure if we pass these bills.
>> Republican Jason Wolfford calls the bills mandating identification be shown when a person registers to vote and prohibiting foreign entities from donating to ballot campaigns common sense.
>> There are dangerous loopholes in our election system. These loopholes are disenfranchising American and Michigan voters.
>> The Republicans pointing to the discovery by the Mcome County Clerk of several non-citizens that were registered to vote. We've seen documented instances where non-citizens ended up on the voter file, not only in Michigan, but around the country. And it's important to remember that every single improper ballot cancels out the lawful vote of a Michigan citizen.
>> The Secretary of State did not respond to a request for comment on the press conference, but the department has said many of those cases were reviewed and the non-citizens removed from voter roles. They've also maintained non-citizen voting is already illegal.
It's rare and Michigan elections are safe and secure. Still, Speaker Prompor Relle Schmidt worries about foreign influence, which is already banned in campaigns for public office.
>> Though the original foreign source is very difficult to trace, we do know that there are millions of dollars with ties to foreign entities already being used to influence the outcomes of ballot questions here in Michigan. So, you have the BFF of your girl, Governorist Gretchen Whitmer, who is indicted for stealing $20 million. This is while she's campaigning for Whitmer. This is while she's being Whitmer's BFF. This is while she's donating to Whitmer. And now Republicans are like, "Yo, we need to look into Whitmer." Okay, this wouldn't be the first time that they say that, now would it? And at the same time, Michigan is refusing to hand over its voting roles even while it admits that people who shouldn't be voting are actually voting, y'all. So there you have it. That's a summary of where we are right now. So y'all let me know.
One, do you think this investigation into Whitmer will actually take place by the DOJ?
And what do you think is going to happen with this voter role situation? I mean, we do have an election coming up, but the Democrats frame this voting situation as, yeah, yeah, people who shouldn't vote, they are voting, but not in very big numbers, so it's not really a big problem. What do you think, y'all?
