She Fought a Training Droid at Level 11 — And That's the Least Weird Part | Dune Messiah Ch. 8

[00:00:25]And yeah, I'd love to see you over there. So, chapter eight, it [clears throat] is definitely I'm going to I have to try to keep this review PG-13, so bear with me.

[00:00:38]Um >> [clears throat] >> Alia is over just just standing at her balcony. She's Paul's sister overseeing all these merchants and and folks coming in from Arrakis. They're just kind of driving her crazy seeing all the hustle and bustle. There's almost a sense like she just sees it as somewhat useless because her mind's elsewhere. Her mind is on the Ghola, on Duncan Idaho. She's pretty She's essentially crushing on her pretty hard. She she really is interested in him.

[00:01:11]So, she goes up to her room, proceeds to take a bath, and then is getting more and more frustrated about we'll say being alone. So, to work off some of that angst, she goes and decides to fight with a training droid thing. Um and she keeps with without just just straight from the bathtub, we'll just say that. So, she's she's having this huge fight cranking up the difficulty up higher and higher and higher. She gets to level like nine, that's the highest she's ever done. Then she gets to 10 and 11, and she's still like just um beating this machine. And then lo and behold, Paul and Stilgar walk in. And she's she's just standing there, and and they're looking at her, and they're like, "What's going on?" And Stilgar's like, "I know what's going on. She really wants a mate." And and she's frustrated that he can read that as if he has some sort of special powers. He's like, "I don't need powers for that. It's just blatantly obvious." Anyway, eventually she throws on a robe and um Paul talks to her about how the Spacing Guild is planning to steal a worm and try to recreate the whole spice cycle on another planet. I'm not exactly sure how he figured that out. It must have happened off off screen or whatnot. So, anyway, this chapter ends with Alia clearly very interested in um well, let's say finding a mate. Um Paul and Stilgar are a little bit worried about this whole Spacing Guild worm thing and uh yeah, uh we'll we'll see where things go from here.

[00:02:45]There's also a trailer for Dune 3 that dropped a few days ago. I watched it. It definitely captures sort of the brooding nature of Paul and where he's kind of starting to turn a little um I don't know, a little more like uh um dictator. That's probably not the right word. Like a brooding leader. He's just not it's not like this simple um trying just to do good. The weight of the role is really beating him down and I think the trailer picked up uh really well on that. So, the whole vibe of the movie definitely seems to be picking up the vibe of the book.
