I Was NOT Ready for This Ending… (The Last Goodbye)Added:
Hey there music friends and welcome to another reaction and analysis video.
Today I'm pretty excited. There's a new Jeff Castellucci song. It's the last goodbye. This is from The Hobbit and this appeared at the end of the trilogy.
Don't forget to check out the description down below. I have a link for Jeff's official YouTube channel as well as a link where you can go and purchase his music and help support him.
That's an awesome thing to do.
Don't forget to let me know your thoughts on this music today down in the comments section.
>> [singing] >> I love that cello.
>> [music] [music] [singing] >> Oh my gosh.
>> [singing] >> I'm telling you what.
Where do you even stop in a Jeff Castellucci song and video?
I like the fact and I always say that when he goes down low, he's so solid, so clear.
But I like the fact in this one, the fact that it says the last goodbye. So you know, this group that they're saying goodbye, they're moving on.
So of course putting a little bit of breathiness in that is going to just create that whole vibe of what he's trying to sing here. There's a little bit of sadness. There's There's a you know, it's it's not clear-cut.
There's there's emotion involved. And that little bit of air in his sound is saying that. I love how he decided to do that. And once again, the way he looks, he's all dressed up.
These four brothers singing, I mean he always does things so well and I'm just really enjoying the sounds. I thought it was a cello at first, but now that I'm thinking about it, the sounds were so low.
I think it may have been a bass.
>> [music and singing] [music] >> What a note.
>> [music] >> Oh my gosh, this is incredible.
>> [music] >> Oh man.
This song is so emotional and Jeff is just capturing that emotion so well.
Each guy that sings here is just bringing something new to the table.
You know, this guy, everything's so clear and it's a little bit higher and brighter.
And we can hear all these important lyrics that he's singing.
And that's something that's just blowing me away. I'm not generally a lyric guy.
A lot of times I listen to a song and I'm hearing the music and I'm hearing the rhythms and the melodies and I'm not hearing the lyrics. And generally a lot of singers can't enunciate the lyrics enough for me to understand.
Man, I can understand everything Jeff's saying here. He really enunciates his words so well and just sings them so clear. I love that.
This [music] is so beautiful.
>> [music] [music] >> Those harmonies are incredible.
>> [music] >> Oh wow.
>> [music] >> Oh my god.
>> [music] >> This is epic.
>> [music] [music] >> Love the accented notes.
>> [music] >> Jeez, what a note.
What a note.
And to just have that that be there after all that epicness with the bum bum bum.
I think that's incredible. I love that part where they were putting those accents in there with all the instruments. And this you could just feel this building up. You know, we were going from softer sounds to louder sounds, forte.
And you know, to have that rhythm just recurring over and over again along with the singing just really built us up nice and then to hit that note.
I mean, that's that's some great arranging. I love Jeff's arranging. He's just so thoughtful in doing those things.
With the drums and the buh buh buh. I mean, that just creates such an epic just huge big sound. Happy sound.
It's more of a happy sound, more of a party feeling good.
And then that's probably why we came back to that one single low note because now we're coming back to that reality of you know, even though we've had all these good times we are saying goodbye.
Oh, we got to go back and hear those harmonies that he did at the end here.
>> [music] >> Inside of each of those chords, there's a note that sounds a little augmented, which means instead of it being right on the note, it's a little sharp within that chord.
And that's giving us that floaty lifty kind of feel here with these chords.
Just putting that one note in the chord all the time.
Well, I just want you all to know, I did watch the end credits. So I did get to see him in the mall hanging up the curtain, uh putting all the costumes on, stuff like that. And I cannot say it enough.
That's the stuff that separates Jeff from a lot of people.
The fact that he gives 150% 150% dressing up, acting the parts. When you're watching him sing, he's not just standing there singing as four people.
You get the feeling that there's brothers standing there singing together and they're together. Just those little glances, those little looks the little turns of the heads, just all of that stuff that he thinks of to put in there makes makes so much more believable and just sells the whole thing.
I can't imagine how much he spends on the production.
I can't imagine that at all.
But, it has to be a good chunk of money.
And And they always come out amazing.
And the center of everything is his voice.
Jeff has an amazing voice. For him to sing all four parts like that, to get that low stuff and then the high stuff and all the parts in between and then to go back and make sure that that all blends and fits well together, the guy is a great great arranger, for sure. Do you know, to take these songs and arrange them into four-part harmony like he's doing and then sing all of those parts, I mean, I've got some videos on the channel where I used to do stuff like that.
And it is incredible how much time goes into doing that. And I don't even think my My music that I did is anywhere close to what he's doing.
So, I know how long it took me to do those things.
It has to take him 10 times that. Just because of the care and everything that he goes through.
But, what an amazing song and the amount of emotion that Jeff was just carrying through, especially with the first guy, the first elf, where he was just singing extremely low. And there was a little bit of breathy airiness to it.
I thought it was such a great choice to convey even more emotion to what was going on with the lyrics.
You know, the fact that these these people spent, you know, three movies, all of that time together on those adventures and then now saying goodbye.
I mean, that's emotional for anybody.
When you say goodbye to anybody and you spent that amount of time, it's going to be emotional.
So, you know, if Jeff came out and sang this very flat and just sang the song and and did the four-part harmony, we would all be amazed. That's for sure because of the talent that he has.
But, to take on those parts and those roles and really feel what they were feeling and then put that emotion into the music just changes what we hear.
I'm always blown away by what Jeff does.
Incredible incredible music and job. He is one of the best arrangers for this, for sure.
