When building high-performance engines, proper tuning is essential to safely increase power output; this involves adjusting fuel delivery systems, boost pressure, and ignition timing to achieve optimal power while preventing engine damage, as demonstrated by a Triumph TR6 that was retuned after adding a second fuel pump to safely reach 602 horsepower at 451 ft-lbs of torque.

Honda Powered Triumph TR6 | Let’s See What This Thing Can Do With More Boost!Añadido:
Hey, look at me.
Remember when they hat just to look at me? Remember when they called you?
Look at me.
And what up? What up? What up? What's good with y'all? All right, so what are we getting into today? All right, if you watched the last video, you know that this is a continuation of that video.
just went picked up the Triumph TR6 and it is all done and wrapped. So, now that that's all finished, the next stage is to take this thing over to get it retuned. And the reason why it needs a new tune is because we added a second fuel pump to it and we have a lot more fuel. So, we can actually make more power. I would have left the original tune on there, but it is running different now because the fuel pressure and all that [ __ ] has changed the AFR and the car just needs a retune. I don't know why I put the same base pressure, but something changed and I want to make sure that it's not going to hurt the motor. So, we're just going to throw it over there. Um, so we're going to be taking it over to Guy, get a fresh tune on there. And, uh, yeah. I don't know. I said I was going to tune it to make 600, but I don't know. I might just set a boost number in my mind. Might just do whatever it makes at 18 lbs and see where see where we're at. Um, I don't really care to have hella power in this car. This car is so light, it's already going to be sketchy as hell. Uh, we made 455 horsepower last time, but we seen 500 and something, but we decided to, uh, pull it out because we ran out of fuel. So, I don't know. I might just set it at 18 lbs and see what it does. Um, I kind of don't want to go over 600 horsepower just because I still haven't even drove this thing. I don't know how it's going to handle. I don't know what it's going to feel like. I don't know how twitchy the car is going to be. It's a completely new build for me that I'm just jumping straight into and just throwing power at, which is it's not too bad because you guys know I have a lot of high horsepower cars, but I don't think I've ever had anything this light that makes this much power, especially with a super short wheelbase. Um, so yeah, one thing that kind of alert like alarms me about short wheelbased cars that are hella light is you don't have a lot of room for error once the car starts, you know, getting squirly and sideways. So, I do want to play it safe. I think that's just the smart thing to do is play it safe, get used to the car, get familiar with it, and kind of go from there. So, I think whatever makes it 18 lbs today is where I'm going to call it and be like, "All right, that's that's enough." So yeah, we're just going to see whatever it makes there. Leave it there. It's a literally a [ __ ] 2,300lb car, if that. And it's going to make 500 something horsepower today at minimum. But anyh who, I'm going to go ahead and snack real quick and then we're off to G and throw this thing on the dyno to see what it makes. And then we can finally be done with this thing.
It's almost there. I'm literally at the end stages of this build.
All right. What's good? Just getting the ges. Thank god I decided to throw a sweater in the car cuz it is cold as hell over here. Stupid windy. So yeah, we just got here with the TR6. About to get this thing unloaded and then on the dyno, bro. This looks like a completely new car.
Jeez, the wrap really came out good. It's PPF, so it should last a long time.
Go ahead. You're good.
Yep.
Yep. Straight back.
Oh, this hill is going to save us.
Yep. We're good. Slow.
Keep going.
We're going to be fine, though. It might drag a little bit, but nothing crazy.
You're good.
You good?
Boom. Boom.
Bro, this [ __ ] looks so dope moving.
I said that [ __ ] looks so dope moving.
This is so [ __ ] dope.
I can't even lie. I I really love this little car.
Heat. Heat.
Now you got to go hella far Yep, we're good on this side.
Yep, we're good.
All right. So, the only changes that we made last time since this car was on the dyno is we did the fuel rails now.
Different fuel pressure regulator with a bigger orfice in there. I made a cold air intake. That way it can suck air from um the wheel well right here.
Before the intake was going right there in front of the fan, felt like it was sucking hot air. So, decided to move that [ __ ] out the way and kind of get it over here. It's the best you can really do. Um, doesn't hit the tire or anything. Checked that beforehand.
But other than that, everything is pretty much the same. New compressor housing on it. And then, uh, fuel system. Before we had a single pump inside the tank was all wonky and weird, but now it has two external pumps.
-8 feed -6 return.
Other than that, everything else is pretty much the same. So, yeah, we'll see what this thing does today, but this is this should be the last time it has to hit the dyno. Unless I'm like, all right, I want more power. But I feel like whatever we make today is pretty much going to be it.
What's the most you've made out of S2K motor?
750 reliably. H >> if we were to push this set up, what do you think we could make? 750.
>> Uh the term might not make it.
>> You don't think so?
>> No, it's 30 R.
>> 36. Uh 35 >> 35.
>> It's a 35 something.
>> 3582.
>> Yeah, 3582. Or is it 84?
>> One of the two.
>> But it is a 35R.
I cross referenced the uh serial number on that. It's a 35.
>> I think it's a 3582 Gen 2.
>> Just a little small.
>> If you cross reference number 3582.
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah. 3582 will do 7750.
>> I don't want that much.
>> What's a good norm? What's a good neutral neutral ground for boost we should run today?
>> 550.
>> Huh?
>> 550 600.
>> I say how much boost? Oh, loose weight probably 22 lb 25 lb.
>> I guess we'll go and see where it starts making.
I want to keep it safe. I don't want to blow it up. I don't want to build a Honda.
See what this thing makes, man. I'll let I'll let Guy pick it.
20 25 whatever he wants to do.
wants to make 650. If he wants to make 700, we'll leave it up to Guy.
>> All right, I'm going to stop at 550.
Keep going.
>> 550, BRO. WE ALMOST TO 600. Just round it up.
>> I think between 550. If we hit 600, 600 is cool.
We'll see where we're at with boost and then just go from there.
You know, when you start seeing [ __ ] doing good on the dyno, you always like a little more. Two more pounds. Couple more degrees. That's how that [ __ ] always goes.
>> No more degrees. We're doing anything more pounds.
>> Yeah. We'll just We'll just I think we're what 20 20°.
>> Yeah, I think we're at 20°.
>> Yeah.
>> So, we'll stop at wherever it makes power at like 16 16°.
Man, do your thing, man. You got this, big dog.
You said 750. Give us 749, man.
All right. Guy got this thing fired up.
Look like he's probably working on the startup map right now.
This thing just fired up hella easy. So, I'm pretty sure that's what he's working on right now. So, pretty soon we should have the wheels uh turning. Once the wheels are turning, I'll be back with y'all. Just want to give you all a quick little update on what's going on at the moment.
Look at the focus and determination right there on that man's face.
Looking like he ready to make some power.
Bro, this turbo is going to get loud today.
I'm definitely looking forward to hear how this thing sounds under a load.
We should get some nice spoolie noises today.
I thought almost scrubbed over the strap.
Bro, that little thing sounds so good.
Bro, I don't know if they'll pick it up cuz we ain't really got it boost yet, but it's sounding good.
Let me know what I think. Should I get the exhaust like this or should I make it quieter? I make it quieter. You hear like insane amount of turbos.
Do I make it quieter or do I make it louder? Y'all let me know. Well, happy to hear. Let me know. Make things louder or quieter. Right now I think it's mid like in the middle. Not too loud. Not too quiet.
Rollers unlocked. It looks like it's about to get to spinning. Will is about to get to spinning. Yep. All right.
Oh, that turbo sound good.
That turbo sound good.
Oh, y'all got to hear this. Y got to hear this a little closer.
That sounds good.
God, this shit's going to be nasty, bro.
It's going to be nasty.
They got wheel tuned to 700 today. It's a no motor, right? Why not?
F20 stroke to 2.2 L for pistons and rods. The stock motor. Why can't I build one, right?
I thought they stole it. I don't want that much power in this car.
700 horsepower in this car would literally be like a death sentence.
All right. So guys, been [ __ ] with this thing. We got a couple pulls in and now we're starting to get into the power stuff. Last one we did off camera, 450 horsepower, 309 footlbs of torque. Then you can see everything else. This is 330, 237. I think you had a boost cut or something right here. Uh 335, 348, 356, and then 450. So yeah, I'm starting to get into the to the power now. So get that one carried out.
Bro, this color looks beautiful under this lighting.
I'm definitely going to paint the car this color.
God, this looks good.
450. 57 horsepower, 313 footlbs of torque. I think we're still on um we're still on 11 lbs. We haven't even touch the boost yet. So, everything's on waste here right now.
All right, just have to do a quick little fix. So, we're running around if we could get no extra boost. And then ended up looking around here and seeing that the [ __ ] boost wasn't even hooked up. So, just got that hooked up now. Um pretty much zip tie the wires and [ __ ] out the way. And now the selenoid is working. So we should be good.
We should be good. Now we're about to start turning up the boost. But hexa strikes again.
Oh, so sick.
Heat. Heat.
All right, just did a pull. Making sure boost control and everything is good.
Last pull we just did 493 horsepower. So, it's looking like we are approaching that 500 horsepower mark.
Oh, no. I might ditch out and do like, all right, stop 550. I really might ditch out and do it.
I think I think I'm going stop.
[ __ ] We almost at 500. It's almost time to stop.
Heat. Heat.
Damn.
Oh [ __ ] Yeah.
Question.
Are you doing torque management?
Are you keeping torque car flat?
I guess I was like, "All right, we just made like another 60 horsepower damn near and torque ain't changed much." I was like, "O wonder if he's keeping torque flat."
>> Oh, okay. Okay.
Okay.
All right. That pull right there. 545 horsepower.
How much boost is that?
>> 20. All right. Where are we going to?
We're going to leave that pressure and do one more run.
All right. So, looks like thought we're at 20 and we're only at 15.
>> Yeah, 20 lb 15° off, but I just wanted to make sure that >> So, we can damn near stay at this boost level and then just throw a little timing in.
>> Timing and be done.
>> Yeah, that works for me. That should get us right between 550 and 600.
>> We're right between 550 and 600.
>> Yeah, I guess we'll just throw the timing out and see where it's at.
You know, if we want to touch 600, you know, another 2 lb, >> it'll do it.
>> Stop at 600.
Stop at 600.
>> Up to me.
>> If the car is taking it, >> [ __ ] it. We stop at 600.
>> 600.
>> We make 610, that's fine, too. We just stop right there. The moment it touch 600, we stop.
It doesn't matter where it touches at the 600. That's going to be the thing.
All right.
>> I mean, it's on the motor. It's going to make it up top.
>> I'm just saying if we if we throw two more degree or two more pounds of boost and add some timing and it makes 620 and that's the first time we touch 600, we leave it there. All right.
>> All right.
>> All right. Whatever the number is at 600, if it makes 601, we stop at 601. If it makes 620, we stop at 620.
>> What about 599?
>> That ain't 600. Man, you might have to let it cool off into another pull then if that's the case.
Now, realistically, we could whatever whatever it makes. We'll see what it's looking like with the timing and then if we if we want to, we can throw another two lbs at it. I feel like 2 lbs ain't like 22 lbs ain't pushing it too hard.
Hey, got pistols and rods.
And is that uh that's 8K.
>> Uh 8200.
>> 8200. All right, that's perfect.
So technically, since the power isn't rolling off, it still wants to make power more up top, huh?
>> It still It's still only downside it's a stroker.
>> Yeah.
>> Yeah. Well, we'll just leave it at there. 82 is fine.
>> That head work there, >> bro. He said that this head has like six grand uh into it. I'm not sure what they did, but he said it has hella money into his head.
>> What's crazy cuz it's on stock cam, right?
>> Yeah, it feels like stock cam.
>> So what? So Honda can make power with stock cam up top. What's up with y'all?
>> [ __ ] Nothing much stock actually, >> huh?
Interesting. Watch out for my paint, bro.
ACTUALLY looks gangster.
This one look better when I get my other valve cover.
>> Hey, so if I'm switching this to the the single uh sensor deal, I don't got to retune it for that, right?
These ones that came out shit's hot.
Oh, yeah. You can definitely see the mark.
>> Mhm. Looks good.
>> Yeah.
>> So, it's like that one looks conservative. That one it's hard to read, but then >> this one's like right there back there.
>> Yeah.
>> They're in the middle. I got to look and see if the CCU does independent cylinder.
>> Which one's that out of? Three or two?
>> Two. Two. Looks like it's two looks like right where I want it to be.
>> And then like cylinder four is conservative and cylinder one's conservative.
>> Yeah. See where the mark is right there for y'all?
>> Mark. Mark. Then this one's closer to the tip. And then mark. That's how you check your timing marks to see if the timing is, you know, close.
zoom in for y'all on each tip. There you go.
All right, new set of plugs in. Add in a couple degrees of timing.
see what the change is looking like.
Realistically, we should be able to break 600 without adding no more boost.
Should be able to just add some timing and call it a day.
We just did one pull, same power, 548 with the first set of plugs.
Go check the plugs. See where the timing mark is.
That ECU doesn't have individual cylinder.
>> It does. Okay.
Adjustment on it.
All right, we got one last cylinder to check.
Everything is spot on now. Already made the adjustments. Cylinder three.
See, this one two Honda.
Pull two degrees out of cylinder 3. And now it's even with other one. Guess that cylinder 3 is the cylinder that runs the hottest.
Y any more timing if anything that's good less timing more boost is how you want to do 561 horsepower.
I probably only added like a maybe a pound right there.
Heat.
Heat.
Holy [ __ ] All right, so we just did another pull off cam cuz we were making 565 and guy was like, "All right, are we going to call it quits right there?" I was like, "Bro, we said 600." So, we just did one more pull right there. 590 horsepower.
That's at 22 uh PSI. So, we're going to leave the boost there. We're at like 88% injector duty. So, we're already uh pretty much almost maxed out on an injector. So, we're going to do is just add one more degree of timing to it since the timing is soft anyway. And we'll just see what we get at 16° of timing and 22 lbs of boost. And if we make 600, cool. If not, then [ __ ] We'll just keep it right there. But we're getting close to pretty much the final numbers. Damn there. We'd make Go ahead, bro. Rev it up to rev this [ __ ] to 9 grand, bro. We'll make the We'll make 609 grand, bro.
This is that This is that area where you be like, "One more pound. This is one more degree." A half a degree. Maybe one and a half.
>> One and a half. All right, that should do it. That should do it. That should set us over six. And don't try to take that degree out when we done either.
I'm like, let me see the uh let me let me make sure I'm looking at this [ __ ] right.
>> Why that [ __ ] say 134, [ __ ] >> Yeah, >> that don't say no. 16 and a half.
>> Well, this is this is the uh pump gas timing and then the fuel the adder.
>> Oh, the flex wheel modifier.
So, my pump my pump gas tune will still be decent with this uh this uh fuel system. All right, just making sure.
We should be hitting 600 on this next pull. A degree and a half should do it.
We right there at 590 at this point.
We're just chasing the 600 for the dino sheet. Honestly, I still even drove this [ __ ] yet. I'm not even going to drive it today. It's going to come off this [ __ ] and go straight back on the trailer.
This discipline right here. I want to drive it so bad. I'm just like, "Nope, not yet. Not yet. Not yet."
All right, this should be the last pull right here.
There it is.
Cool. 600. We done.
That's it. That's all she wrote.
All right, guys. Want to just check the plug. Make sure the timing is all good.
But here y'all go.
Final number on this thing. 602 horsepower, 451 footpounds of torque.
Done.
600.
It wasn't leaving here without a 600 print.
That curve looks good.
All right, guys. Over here tracking the straps.
Life tradition. Always got to do this every car. So, we're going to be doing around here, too. So, yeah, it's going to be the first through uh first through fifth gear pulls.
Heat.
Heat.
Heat up here.
I've been going too crazy. These [ __ ] too shy. Speed limit 65. I'm about to do 80. [ __ ] [ __ ] hating on. You can go to speed up your
