[00:00:00]Guys, I got another one for you today. I am on the forgotten coast of Florida, Wakulla County. I'm going to spend the next three days with a couple of my buddies staying at a cool fish camp, doing a little offshore fishing, little inshore fishing, and we're going to have a good time. You guys are riding along.

[00:00:26]Well, we are here. We are at an old Florida fish camp.

[00:00:31]Uh what is it? What is it? Shell >> Shell Island.

[00:00:33]>> Shell Island fish camp. Never been here before in my life. I have been in the area about 20 years ago, but this particular fish camp I've never been.

[00:00:42]We're just kind of checking it out.

[00:00:43]Looks like I got some old cabins and In-N-Out service and bait. Right. A little bit early here. We go see if we can check into our rooms.

[00:01:17]Oh, we just got our keys and are checked in here, but I wanted to walk out on the dock here because I I saw something that's kind of Cool. I don't know if these are rental boats or not, but they're old Prolines. You don't see a whole lot of them anymore.

[00:01:38]I'll have to ask if you can rent those or not. I'm not sure.

[00:01:42]But yeah, there's a spot the old school Florida fish camp if I've ever seen one.

[00:01:50]Oh, look at those tarpon. Dude, you'd have thought we were in the Keys.

[00:01:55]I don't know if you guys can see that, but there are two, >> three, four, >> four just absolute monster tarpon. We're not talking about little 60 lb. Them are 150 lbers.

[00:02:55]Not bad. Me and Will just hopped back in the truck, left the fish camp, and we're headed to Wakulla Springs. Now, I haven't been to Wakulla Springs in 20some years. Uh many years ago, I lived in Tallahassee for a couple years, and uh we would go down there and swim, but they have a lodge there and I believe we're having dinner. Um, so it'll be interesting to see after all these years what it's like.

[00:03:33]This is Wakulla Springs. It is directly behind the lodge here. Oh, there goes an alligator. See him?

[00:03:51]We used to come out here, like I said, 20some years ago and uh swim and have a good time.

[00:04:02]You see all that currents from I believe this is a first magnitude spring. Very cool place to come and swim.

[00:05:57]Good morning, guys. Just waking up here, Shell Island Fish Camp. Um, we got a quick little run over to Panacea, I think to Rock Island Boat Ramp, um, and meet up with Real Integrity Charters.

[00:06:22]I decided to play Russian roulette with my stomach, get a gas station burrito, little Coke.

[00:06:46]He's already got bean bags ready. We got a little bit of a run.

[00:06:51]>> We got about 10 miles. We'll stop and get our live bait and then we'll go about another 30 and we'll get fishing.

[00:07:38]We pulled about six, seven of those traps loaded up on pin fish. We got about a 20 25 mile run. A little breezy this morning, but the wind's laying down all the time.

Over here we have a lot of lime rock bottom where it it's it's flat and hard like concrete and there's holes in it and the ledge like the undercut will be like this and the fish are back up underneath but it's it's hard flat bottom like Swiss cheese bottom like Swiss cheese bottom that's a good way to put it >> going up through both lips >> right out the Guys, we just rolled up to the first spot. Kind of getting positioned right now. Little bit of jigging, a little bit of live bait and dead bait.

[00:29:58]It had been like another 10 miles of miserableness and it's supposed to just build throughout the day. What we're going to do is they made a call. They called a commercial crab and said, "Can we grab some crabs out of one of your traps?" We're going to do that. We're going to rebait it and uh we're going to go hopefully try to catch some big black drum or just anything on the inshore side.

Captain Joel's going to clean some up for us, but he's going to do a little twist on it. He's going to harvest the collars if he can and the backs and just some some cuts that that sometimes get thrown away. One thing that's super cool about Wakulla County is commercial fishing is a huge industry here and everybody is all connected. The commercial guys, the charter guys, the restaurants, they all work together and um they all know each other. It's very small time feel very much old Florida and just a great place to visit. These guys working on all our grouper from yesterday.

[00:38:44]So they they just we just sat down here at Posies. They got us in the back cuz we're a big uh group. Got us all drinks and stuff and they brought out some of the local oysters. Will's already into them. That's why I had to move the plate away from him so I could get some. But >> hold on one second.

[00:57:00]We're going to go fishing. We're going to catch some fish. Then we're going to catch clean cook the fish sometime soon this summer.

[00:57:10]On the boat. They have some really good fish dip. They said they got it at this place, Mineral Springs Seafood.

[00:57:33]>> Y'all need a little bit of ice or >> I got ice.

[00:57:40]>> That's where they'd be smoking all the fish, guys. You tell they probably run some pounds through that thing. It was pouring smoke earlier, but uh I wanted to get that on camera, but it's in the afternoon now. I picked up some of the hot mess. So, it's like a a spicy smoked fish dip that had I think wahoo, tuna, bunch of stuff in it. I was torn between that and mullet dip, but honestly, I like it a little spicy. I figured while I was down here just checking out the tarpon they got at the cleaning table here at Shell Island Fish Camp, do a little bit of story time. So, how this whole trip came to be is um Wakulla County Tourism reached out to me and said, "Hey, we'd love to have you come down and do some filming and maybe showcase the area." And a little thing about me is about 20some years ago, I did live in Tallahassee for a couple years, and I used to come down to this area and fish all the time. And I always really loved it, and I haven't been back. It was actually on my radar regardless to come down here and maybe get an Airbnb and do some filming. So, when they reached out, I jumped on it.

[00:58:49]They were looking for a couple other channels. So, I called Will and Craig said, "You guys want to go down there, have a little uh guys week, do some fishing and stuff." So, they said, "Yeah." But, uh, Visit Wakulla has a really great website. It's visitwakulla.com.

[00:59:07]And if you wanted to come here, get an Airbnb or stay at the fish camp or book a really good charter. Uh they got a bunch of good charters, not just Real Integrity. Get on that website, you can plan yourself a trip and uh come do what we did. That was an amazing meal we had there at Posies and it's been amazing trip here in Wakulla County. Um fishing with real integrity was awesome. Hanging out with uh Will, Craig, and Sean.
