[00:00:23]But along came this Epiphone Explorer to surprise the heck out of my dad. At least, that's the goal. So, let's unbox her, make sure she works, little test drive never hurt anyone, and then surprise my dad.

[00:01:48]Wow. I mean, right out of the box. If I didn't see the logo, didn't see the Epiphone case, I would have said '58 Explorer by Gibson. It just had that appeal, that that glow coming right out.

[00:02:06]Epiphone, you guys nailed it. Epiphone mother of pearl looking logo, white pick guard, Burstbucker two and three pickups, and even the fretboard has a nice dark look.

[00:02:36]She weighs around 6 and 1/2 lb. This is extremely light. To give you an idea of why I thought I'd explore with my dad one, we both are in a southern rock band together.

[00:02:47]We just started it up, and I thought this would be a great way to kick it off.

[00:02:50]He always talked about how he wasn't able to get up high on Free Bird and play with me in that part cuz it was really difficult on like Les Paul. So, I was like, let's get all access, go all the way up here. Complete freedom to move across the fretboard.

[00:03:05]And I was so impressed by Gibson Custom Shops version of this, that when Epiphone came out with this, if they could even replicate some of the playability, it plays like butter. You feel like it plays you.

[00:03:20]You just think what you want and it comes out.

[00:03:27]Our first thing we do when opening up a new guitar, we test her out. So, we're going to do some acoustic sounds here and just general feel of fretboard.

[00:03:35]So, first then I'll do a run, basic run G major.

[00:03:44]Oh, yeah. They got All right, right off the bat, I can hear that body. Mm, listen to that.

[00:03:57]You can feel the guitar vibrating all the way through. Very resonant. I'm impressed by that.

[00:04:04]So, let's fire her up and play some tunes. Play some riffs.
