Monsoonal Moisture Lingers in Las Vegas Monday Morning

For this morning though, that cloud coverage is locked firmly in place. Dew point and humidity are up in comparison to what we normally are used to here in the desert Southwest with temperatures holding strong in the low 90s. Look at that through your late morning forecast between 9:00 and 10:00 a.m. will be that transition point from the low towards mid 90s, upper 90s right behind it to take you into your 12:00 p.m. hour. Forecast high today in Las Vegas 103, 104° over as you push on to the east side. Summerlin camera taking a live look outside. We've got the twinkling lights of the Las Vegas strip off into the distance there. That cloud coverage in the Las Vegas Valley again locked firmly in place as I pull you on out. Monsoonal moisture still spilling on in. You could see that northwesterly track there of that cloud coverage.

[00:01:02]High pressure holding strong as we start to see the end of work week forecast.

[00:01:06]Humidity levels are up as you can see with your Monday to Tuesday forecast.

[00:01:11]We'll see a steady downgrade day by day as we are looking at your hour by hour forecast as well. We'll start to dry things out by your later evening hours today. We'll start out a little bit more moisture. So future track showing that high pressure again is parked off to the east of us right over these four corners which going to start to see a shift of that high pressure system further east though. Reason being is going to be a trough digging in from the Pacific Northwest. That's actually going to move that area of high pressure bringing on dwindling rain and shower chances as we are looking ahead at your extended forecast. Now the movement of that high is also going to have an impact on our temperatures. You'll notice a steady increase of your forecast high numbers every single day towards the end of your work week in comparison to where average high should be this time of year. 105° and we'll notice we'll go from below normal to above average as we do look ahead towards your Thursday forecast.

[00:02:09]So, let me show you exactly why. Now, as that high pressure system is nudged off to the east, it's actually going to be the back end that's going to bring on a final surge of moisture. Best chance is going to be on Friday. Then we're going to dry things out headed into the good portion of the work week next week. My Fox 5 First Alert calendar has had 2 weeks straight of at least slight shower chances that started a couple of weeks ago. We'll start to see that dwindle day by day beyond this weekend's forecast.

[00:02:38]The focus is then going to turn towards heat. As soon as your Thursday forecast will push from above average range to right around 111 for the hottest day this work week by Sunday, the next 7 I should say, headed into the second half of your weekend forecast. So, 103 your forecast high for today and tomorrow.

[00:02:57]106 by Wednesday, the heat is building up to 110s again from your Thursday to Friday forecast. The best chance of showers and storms is going to come this week Friday to Saturday. That high pressure system gets moved out of our neck of the woods and then big heat is going to be the main focus as soon as Sunday with a forecast high of 111°.
