Llangollen Canal Breach, Whitchurch. Evening Update! Discussion, Pumps, ViewsAñadido:
Hello again. So, Thursday morning at the Klang Goth and Canal Bridge. Uh, just come down. It was really, really sunny earlier. It's gone a bit cloudy now. I think there is rain due later. So, I will try and do a bit of a video this morning just in case I can't uh fly this evening. Hopefully, I will be able to, but uh obviously we have to go with what the weather says. So, we'll take off now.
Um, obviously as I alluded to yesterday, I did go on site yesterday of which you saw some of the photos. Um, I do plan, sorry, in the comments there was lots of questions about what I found out and um asking for some answers on different things. Uh, Josh from Taylor's Aboard and uh, Steve Court from Court Above the Cut were also there.
I believe they've put some of their answers out already.
Um, I plan to make a bit of a video over the weekend and try to discuss it a little bit on a video over the weekend.
So, if I haven't answered the questions in your comments, don't be don't be offended in any way. Uh, that's that's kind of my plan. And I am going to uh, of course, then you can ask any questions you want to after that. Um, and I will try and answer them again, you know. So, so we're just looking down on the flood field here.
Where we were stood yesterday was further towards the cover over here.
Taking photos in hand. And you could see quite a lot of water that may making its way down and in various locations. Obviously draining this wet field above.
I think a lot of this is coming that water is coming from the uh from the dam.
And there is quite a lot of water there um coming down. That's I presume that's from that trench.
Uh there isn't a lot of water now, I don't think, coming down this kind of area.
So I I presume this corner is actually drying up quite nicely. It does look that way. And then of course there is some water that comes down from the stream above.
There's a little bit of water there. Not quite sure what that is. Um, that's been uh a little trench has been dug there too.
A bit of an overview of that area just after seeing it last night. I thought it'd be nice to fly my drone. Couldn't do yesterday because of the rain and the wind. So, hence having a look this morning.
Um, quite quiet on site this morning.
Track dumpers have moved from last night. They're not part where they were um where we did that walk around where I did that walk around.
Um if you are new to the channel, please do subscribe if you haven't already. And I would like to thank all the people that have subscribed recently been a huge amount. We are getting towards 12,000 subscribers.
So, uh, that's really awesome. Thank you very much for everyone doing that.
Um, thank you very very much to CRT for letting me on site yesterday and for KIA. They were both very very uh amanable and very helpful.
Um, so my thanks do go out to them.
And there is a area in my description of the video where you can um donate to CRT and support them. Uh there's a link in the description of every video if you want to uh support them in what is going to be a monumental job as we all know. Um already is you know there's the other track dumper whether they've been dumping already.
The digger is up there on the spoil heap.
The man is in the digger actually.
So, uh, in the description there is also a link to my Facebook as there always is as you know. Um, it looks like they're just doing a little bit of tidying up, putting things into that compound, those noise reduction mats, keeping a tidy sight. Um so yeah please do follow me on Facebook if you haven't already and you can of course always message me on Facebook which is uh handy very easy to do always try and respond to those messages and then uh if you wish to support me and and the channel in that in this way uh there is a link to buy me a coffee Um but don't feel like you need to and don't expect that but there is others that have asked to uh to find a way to do that.
Um similar membership on the channel.
People have said that uh they don't like the membership. Other people have said they want a regular way to donate. So I have uh set membership up and uh I would just like to point out everyone gets to see every video. There is no members only videos. Occasionally the members get uh get slightly earlier access by a few hours um to videos but most of the time it's it's exactly the same as non-members.
And it's just uh just a way that you can that people have asked to donate on a regular basis.
Um so thank you very very much for all the people that have have uh bought me a coffee and subscribed.
Massive massive help to me.
do work as hard as I can to try and make nice videos and uh interesting videos for you all when there's not a lot happening on site like this morning. It is a good time just to discuss things like we have and if there is anything you would like to discuss or would like me to to mention uh or fly over or have a look at then please do comment.
Always try and help in that fashion.
So, we'll just fly over the other side of the C where we were last night. And I guess this will be filled in at some point over the top of those two 8 in clay drains um which are now flowing well into this area. As you can see, it's uh it's flowing out of this area now.
I guess with there being a bit of a sump there that may fell fill up with sediment whether they'll have to dig that out periodically.
Uh ultimately, I guess it would work better if the ditch was deeper. It's whether the ditch will be dug out, whether that's a an issue for the land owner more so than uh more than the Canal and River Trust quite possibly.
Um I know I dig all my ditches on my fields myself.
Do that every 3 years. People have asked if I can zoom over and see if the sandy water is making its way downstream. And it does look like it is to there. Um, this then goes under a culvert over the actual um under the actual bypass which is bypass which is uh the cover's down here somewhere.
Can just see my drone still in the distance. That's all right. Don't know if I'll see the culvert. It's under the trees and the leaves now.
You can just see the drain head fence there. The fence on top of the drain head.
That's the the culver here going under the under the bypass which is now to our left. As you can see that then disappears into all these trees on the other side of the bypass.
um whether we'll pick up the stream here. Oh yeah, that's coming out of the culvert and it looks fairly clear by that point. So whether the sand is settling out possibly. Maybe there isn't actually that much in it.
Um that was one of the questions people were asking me. Of course, these are the pipes going from the water pumps that are over at the marina.
They of course were set up over the Christmas period.
This field obviously has been cut for silage at some point.
Fly back now. A view of the site that we don't normally see from this direction.
No mechanical work going on. They are just still moving those mats, tidying things up.
Um, looks like the drill rig has been moved as has the uh the pump and silt trap. I think that was a few days ago.
Stack of pallets by the bin.
I did notice while I was in the compound yesterday that they were there is sign saying reverse park only or please reverse park. So that is something that's uh on the site as well.
generators behind.
I do believe they have Wi-Fi on site as well now. Um, so that's a bit of good news for them.
Does look like this uh man's just jumping on this excavator.
Excuse me for something in me throat.
Was nice to look at the machinery up close. Gives a completely different view uh of it to drone footage. I mean drone footage is really really interesting in itself. Um but it is a a stark contrast to uh to the other kind of footage down in hand.
Excuse me.
Is that pipe that the jet was going through? Has that been removed? I think it has now. Those were the boards that were over the top of it.
Feel like I'm going to lose me voice at some point.
If I do and I go quiet, then you know what is going on.
All this week, Kieran's been on holiday and me and Colin have been trying to keep him well informed and up to date with footage to post. So, uh, hopefully you've enjoyed his videos.
Um, just keep him in the loop.
I know he do the same for us. So, uh, we do try and help each other out as much as we can.
There's quite a social thing between us all.
So that will that's always good. Nice tidy stacks. Whether these are staying on site or going be interesting to see.
Um one other thing I will just comment on.
In yesterday's video I said about Septton being for sale.
Uh it was up for an asking price £15,000.
I did seriously consider it myself. I have got that much going on. I don't think it's a a wise move at the moment.
Um, and I wouldn't be surprised if it's uh sold already. If someone else has uh >> has said that, oh, >> today, >> not today. No, no play, mate. Sorry, mate.
Um, yeah, he's not with me today.
Someone's just walking past asking about Ernie.
So yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if STF and sells very very quickly.
Structurally, apparently it's meant to be in very good order. It only really needs stripping out and fitting out, which is something I would have liked to do and I would have really enjoyed doing it. Um, but ultimately I'm building me shed.
I've got my own business which I'm trying to run doing these videos on the breach.
Uh and a few other things going on that you don't know about. Um I don't want to spread myself too thin and end up doing nothing well. So even if I had have purchased the boat at this point, I think I would have ended up um kind of not doing anything with it for probably 12 or 18 months. That of course then incurs storage costs and different things.
So I think it's probably fairer to let someone else do do that work.
And I'm sure someone else will get there with it reasonably easily and quite quickly to be honest.
You never know, we might even uh know the person that's that ends up with Septton. It would be nice to follow it.
I am off to work shortly so this will go up as an evening video.
Uh but this is uh on Thursday morning I'm filming this and there is the potential on the weather it says about uh rain that's uh due in kind of uh lunchtime onwards.
So, I will try and come and do an evening update, but whether that does does occur or not, we'll have to wait and see.
There was a lot of water running down into the culvert. And you can see here there's quite a lot. again.
Whether they'll pipe this in time, stop it eroding like it is doing, it's another question.
We will, while we're up, we will just have a little fly over this end of site and have a look at the dams and the pumps. We haven't been over here for a little bit.
I am up really high. I'm 45 50 m high.
Quite a lot of water there actually. Uh between the two between the two dams.
I did see cellwood on site last night when we were walking around the compounds where the the pumps hadn't been working that well.
And in fact, it does look like the pumps have been taken away or the uh the power packs have been taken away at least. So that could could uh be the reason for the amount of water going down there.
That does look like oil on the top of the water, but that can also be uh decomposing bacteria. So don't be alarmed by that yet.
But yeah, that's uh that's the reason there's so much water going down through the culvert at the moment.
The power packs, so the actual pumps aren't even aren't even there. The the work boats with the power packs and fuels cells, whether they've just gone down to Grinley Brook to be refueled or wherever they go. I presume they go down to Grinley Brook. Maybe they go further or whether they've gone up down for work.
I'm not entirely sure.
The canal goes round over that direction somewhere. I may have just followed the road. I think that was the road, wasn't it? The canal's further on.
If I can go up and see anything.
>> Yeah, I think that's the cutting for the >> maxitude.
Is that the canal there?
Yeah, that's the canal. So, sorry, I had followed the road.
If we follow this down, we're looking over towards where Grimley Brook is, which is of course where the cranes were for lifting the boats out.
Wagon going down a drive in the background there.
And I would say they were probably the power packs, the fuel cells. So I guess they are in Grinley Brook at the moment.
Anyway, I do need to uh think about going to work, I think.
Quite a long video this morning, as it turns out.
Zoom in on the horizon and have a look around while I'm up high.
It's interesting trying to work out where we are looking at.
I guess we'll be looking over towards kind of in into the direction of the whirl and over that way eventually, but um please do correct me if I'm wrong on that.
It's hard to lose. It's very easy to lose sense of direction when you're zoomed in.
I could be wrong on that. Is that more Pepperton and that way? Those hills could well be.
I don't know. I I can't work that out.
Well, looking over Grinley Brook there. So, yeah, I would potentially say that was Pepperton.
And then you're looking over into maybe Rexom and and the Welsh Hills beyond.
Bit of rain there in the distance.
Yeah, I would say they were the Welsh Hills.
Yeah, cuz there's solar farm.
Then we'll be looking over this way, which will kind of go more into Uh, Osworth stream beyond in the very distance.
Got a prominent hill there. Someone may know what that is.
very big hills as well.
I'm running quite low on battery now, so I am going to come back shortly.
Not actually that far away. I'm just quite high up.
This is over Belton.
They make cheese there. Belton Farm Dairies.
So, yeah.
While I'm up high, I may do an overview of the site, which we all seem to like.
Max altitude reached.
There's your overview and see how much of the field has actually been tidied up. a huge amount and the cover there with the ditch draining in bucket area.
actual bridge with the old cut as it was track dumper and large excavator or the track dumper and the small excavator and the area they were tidying up leading back down into the compound over the lift bridge and down towards Joe's boat which is looking uh quite bonnie And I'm going to zoom out and I'm going to come into land because I am very low on battery now. Thank you very much for watching and uh I will try and do an evening update if the weather allows.
Um I'm sorry I've been talking so much.
Hopefully uh I haven't bored you all too much.
I thought it was an ideal opportunity to just discuss a few things while there wasn't a lot going on on site.
You can see me sat there on the bench.
Excuse me.
Just landing now and hopefully do your video later on.
Hello again. So, we're back down at the brereech Thursday evening. Weather looks very doubtful.
Windy, black clouds, really heavy showers again. We can see the clouds rolling in. So, I'm going to do a quick evening update hopefully uh before it rains. So, I won't uh waste any time. Let's take off.
Straight away, it doesn't look like a lot's happened on the flood field area today. Maybe they've been working elsewhere.
be interesting to see if the boats have come back.
Um to the brereech side, so we'll do a quick flight and this is going to be a very quick flight over the compound.
Please do point out anything that has happened. Track dumpers have been parked back in a very similar spot to the to that that they were last night.
Obviously, there's no one on site now other than the security.
That's quite a nice picture in as much as two excavators are next to each other.
So, I'm just going to try and get a bit of a picture of those.
Look beneath me away from that tree.
That's a nice picture.
trap dumpers of Bush spoil heap. I don't know if that's grown a little bit. May may have done.
It's hard to see.
Look like it's all been smoothed off, raided off vast amount here.
Maybe not. The sun has just come out on me.
Hopefully, we'll miss any rain that's coming.
It's all locked up for the night.
In this morning's video, I did mention and talk about Septton and I did say uh hopefully someone would purchase Sapton that would put her back to uh to good condition.
And I did uh say you never know. It might be someone who we already know. It has been announced now. I think um there's someone we do know has bought bought her or has at least put a deposit down.
So uh I think I was quite I was right on that.
There's the less water going down this trench. Now, let's just zoom in and have a quick look.
There's still a fair bit.
There is a bit.
Are the pumps back? Are the power packs for the pumps back? Keep saying the pumps back. The pumps are actually in the cut, the submersible pumps.
But are the uh power packs for the pumps back?
Uh let's go and have a little look. It looks like they are. And there's a lot less water in that area.
And the pumps are working.
So hopefully uh they will drain this area and reduce the amount of water that is going to be flowing down. It's only one working. One must be a backup.
It is pumping out considerable amount of water.
Those boats change from what they were.
I thought there was a hydraulic power pack and a fuel cell in each boat. Now there's two power packs and a fuel cell in one and fuel cell in the other.
Do comment and let me know if uh that is the case.
Let's have a quick look over the actual stream before we come back.
I think the water level in that has reduced somewhat.
It was nearly over the top of those uh those sacks.
There's not a lot. There's a little bit seeping through, but not a huge amount seeping through there. So I would say the water level in in that little bit of uh a sump there has potentially reduced.
Has the water level in the culvert itself risen?
I wouldn't say so. Not massively. So whether there's less water going in because the pumps are now switched on.
So it's making it look lower.
That's possibility.
It can't be that the pipes have jetted have uh blocked up again. Otherwise the water level there would be much higher.
So yeah, I think I'm going to come back now and come into land.
I'm going to go and get some tea and uh put this video up for you. Thank you very very much for watching and uh I shall try and come tomorrow for a Friday update. Got a bit of work on again tomorrow. Getting ready for the shed build.
So important work.
Looking into the sun again. So quite hard to see.
Flying nice and close to me so I don't have to walk too far. Lazy, I know.
landing now.
Thank you for watching and we shall see you tomorrow. Have a good evening.
