Every MCP Server On The Planet Just Got 90% Better!

[00:00:00]Up until yesterday, J Code Munch MCP was perhaps the most token efficient MCP server on the planet. But today, every MCP server has the potential to be the most token efficient MCP server on the planet. You're asking yourself, "How can that be, Uncle Jay?" Well, stick around.

[00:00:19]You're going to find out on today's episode of Uncle Jay's very excited to show you this, boys and girls. Uh I'm going to clone the J Munch MCP server for you here. This is all standard cloning from Git stuff. By now, uh you know how to do this. If you don't, it's in the quick start of the readme, as you can see here. But just do a clone uh pip install e. That says, you know, install everything I'm going to need. And then you switch into the directory and we fire this bad boy up. This is a MCP server that's able to call other MCP servers and make them as efficient as J Code Munch MCP, J Doc Munch MCP, J Data Munch MCP servers. It's uh it's MIT licensed. So, you don't got to worry about uh your MCP server wrapper here costing anything. Here you see the the uh it found when you install it, it finds the existing MCP servers on your machine. In this case, I got a few of them that the ones that are not checked have not yet been included in the uh in in the new MCP server, in the J Munch MCP server. So, we're going to go ahead and punch those numbers in. I'm going to put 11 in for fetch. And I'm going to put 12 in for brave search, cuz I'm feeling cocky. And by the way, that cockiness is going to bite Uncle Jay in the ass in just a just a little bit here. Because yeah, I shouldn't I shouldn't get cocky. Um so, here we answer yes and it'll rewrite all the client configs. All the stuff that you would ordinarily have to do manually to set up an MCP server gets done for you in the init. That's uh we've we've done all the hard all the hard work at this point. While Uncle Jay was yakking, let's grab the the command here. Copy that. That'll that'll open up our dashboard. You don't have to use the dashboard, but the dashboard's a nice way to take a look at uh what kind of tokens you're saving and how everything's running. Here you see our fetch hasn't been activated yet. Now, we've optimized it. Just you just click on install or optimize. And uh that automatically makes that MCP server get used by the new J Munch MCP server. Acts as kind of an intermediary. Uh that's a big word for uh for a guy with a GED, but that's what that is. We go into the MCPs. Here we see them listed and you'll see that uh the fetch is still connecting and brave search is still connecting. You remember Uncle Jay mentioned I was going to get bit in the ass. Yeah, Uncle Jay was was uh so full of himself here trying to show you how he could do two things at once that I neglected to put in the API key for brave search. So, it's going to crash on us here. And then during the recording of the the actual screen capture here, Uncle Jay might have said a bad word or two. So, we're not going to we're not going to be messing with the brave search. We're just going to stick with the with the fetch MCP server. And here we're just telling Claude, "Go ahead. Run a fetch. Use a bunch of tokens." And let's see what happens to it. And that's what it does.

[00:03:20]Claude being as smart as it is. Now, I don't know why everybody's ripping on 47. 47's pretty smart, if you ask me.

[00:03:28]Uh yeah, most desk calculators are smarter than me. Um but here it's it's going ahead and it's calling that. Let me pull up the the part of the Here you can see it already did. Saved 54,616 tokens, my friend. That's 54,000 fewer tokens in one call of the fetch MCP server. Imagine how many tokens you're going to save over an entire day's worth of using fetch or brave search if you're smart enough to, you know, put in the API key.

[00:04:01]So, yeah, it's it's uh it's actually it's running uh it's calling fetch like five different times. And here Uncle Jay's getting a little upset because I don't see five different entries in the log file. So, I actually stopped and took time to read what was I don't ordinarily don't read stuff. But sometimes you got to read stuff, so I looked it over here. It says, "Yeah, I'm saving all the saving you all these tokens." I said, "That's great, Claude, but how come how come I don't see them over here in the in the log file?"

[00:04:29]So, rather than re-record the whole thing and pretend I'm some big hotshot where stuff doesn't go wrong, I like to show you some of the stuff I tripped up on. And uh but what it what it means for you, boys and girls, is that I'm going to fix this. By the time you see this this video and you download this, this is going to work for you. Here I I complained to Claude. I said, "Hey, there's only one log entry. Well, what's up with that?" And Claude says, "Yeah, there is you're not logging all the all the activity, bonehead. You want me to log all the activity? I'll do it. Just tell me to log all the activity." So, that's what Uncle Jay is going to be doing while uh while you guys go and download this. And I bet you by the time you get this set up on your machine, uh that's going to be working completely.
