In limited overs cricket, successful teams adapt their strategies to pitch conditions, with effective batsmen adjusting their approach based on bounce, lateral movement, and moisture levels, while bowlers must target specific batsmen and maintain field placements suited to the ground's characteristics.

RCB vs KKR Innings break show | LIVE IPL 2026 Match 56 | Who holds the edge - Kolkata or Bengaluru?Added:
not Not bad at all. 192 for the Kolkata night riders after being put into bat after a delay. It started but looks like the worst of the weather is behind us.
Is it advantage KKR? Remember how hard it was for RCB to chase 167 in Rayur against the Mumbai Indians. Let's see who holds the advantage on this halftime show on coin DCX presents ESPN for timeout powered by California Armens.
Mitch McClanigan was closest because he came he said 178. They've gone well past that. Dryu and Matt Roller were in the 13060 range. Shocking. How can you be so off?
>> So negative, eh?
>> Yeah, forget my 110. Anyway, uh, is this advantage KKR, Mitch?
>> Yeah, I think so. I think that's a good total on this surface. It still looks like it was misbehaving a little bit.
There wasn't as much variable bounce as we saw the other night, but there was still some lateral movement early. So, I think the way they went about it uh was pretty impressive. Um I I think um yeah I think uh the adaptability to the conditions was probably the best thing.
Uh you know strong shots you saw Watson talking about during the week about how much he uh rates this young kid and uh >> sure >> he's been pretty impressive actually.
He's got all the shots, doesn't he? I mean it's just struggled with strike rate so far this season. Um, but there was perfect conditions for him to come out and bat and and show the range of shots that he's got.
>> Ryu has used this term very often. I'm delighted. I think he'll speak about it.
Batsmanship. Ru >> I I think it's just adapting to the conditions and respecting the conditions at hand and uh you know doing your best uh in it. Uh not not actually just overthinking just keeping it simple hitting through the line because the ball was coming on. There was a little bit of moisture in the wicket due to which uh there was good bounce and going forward I think in the second innings it might just skid on a little bit can keep a little low uh in the given conditions he's played beautifully has played some really good cut shots on this pitch which skids on uh has some you know skiddy skiddy pace uh suited his batting style because he climbs the ball beautifully so it's it's a fantastic innings. Yeah, really good innings and I wonder if Ankrish Shaguanchi's the pace of his innings also reflects the pace of the overall innings on when it suddenly started to surge match.
>> Yeah, well it it was a curious one in the sense that um so from the end of the ninth over till the end of the 20th over in 10 of the 11 overs they scored between 10 and 14 runs. So, I guess I don't know. It'd be interesting, Mitch, from your perspective as a bowling coach. Are you looking at that and thinking, well, we did well to minimize big overs cuz there's nothing that's more than a couple of boundaries in it.
Or are you thinking we've not chipped away enough and we've not taken enough wickets and we've not closed out overs when we started them? Well, >> yeah, I think that was too many boundaries balls if I'm going to be honest. It looked difficult when you were like Josh Hazelwood was exceptional and as over two and three where he came in and hit the top of the stumps and it looked really hard to time. The ball was coming on at different paces and every time they got width uh they got punished and I think that's a key lesson that Kar will if they going to win this fixture will take into that second innings.
Don't give width. Make sure you're keeping the top of stumps in play >> and also keep your fielders quite square on this ground because it's kitty. Yeah.
>> And lot of boundaries were hit square.
If you look at that also the outfield is very very fast. So yeah they need to look after that. I think KKR if they are smart it'll be it'll be a good game for them. Uh because this wicket is not going to get any easier. I I I definitely feel it's going to just keep a little low. Uh and also the bouncer can be quite effective on a surface like that.
>> Just on Ragavanchi specifically I thought he picked his targets really nicely. So off Baneshwar, Hazlewood and Krenell he was 33 off 26 balls striking in the 120s against Rasik and Duffy 38 off 20 striking at 190. So suggested he lined up the guys that he thought he was more likely to get after and probably prove that.
>> Is this the value of Ankrish Raguanchi that you might on certain days be questioning whether he's going at a tempo which is high enough for whether him with Rahane works but in the long run he will be a batter of value will only improve.
>> Absolutely. I think if you have a game like that, if you have the batsmanship quality that he possesses, you can always get better on flat tracks, you can always improve your bat speeds like how Patidar did it eventually. Uh so Ragawani can go that route have this game all round game and then improve your wall striking. Uh that'll make him into a solid solid batsman.
>> Yeah, he's 21.
>> We've got to keep on remembering that.
you know, came into league when he was 19. And >> are you saying he's young or he's old?
Because >> I'm saying I'm I'm very confused as to what >> I'm saying he's young. And I'm saying he's young. And this is what his career strike r 135.
>> Um, and that will improve once he starts to figure it out. And I mean, look, Shane Watson doesn't he's no mug when it comes to picking talent, right? And you know, he spoke about how he reminds him of the Sunju Samson when he was 17. It's just going to take some time for him to kind of build into that mold and he can get >> 90% of the way there. He's going to be a phenomenal player.
>> Quick word on RCB tactically. Were you surprised that Duffy took the new ball and not Hazelwood? And that's a tough day for Jacob Duffy.
>> I see why Duffy took the new ball um because he swings the ball and Josh doesn't swing it as much as Duffy. And if you want to get the most out of Duffy, then that's the position to to put him in. But then you saw Josh Hazelwood bowl once he came on and you saw how difficult he was to hit on that surface. So I think hindsight we get the benefit. Um so I you would have probably run with Josh Hazelwood but I think Duffy I can see why he bowled with the new ball.
>> Yeah. Quick word on Ringu as well who continues his turnaround of form. That's a very that could prove to be a decisive innings.
>> Yeah I think he set his own innings up beautifully. M >> he just took a little bit of time at the start. He was run a ball for about 12 13 balls and in those last four overs we all know that he can play explosive and he plays the yorker really well. I mean anybody who misses a Yorker against him he'll definitely go for runs. Uh so yeah he played to his strengths and he has been in tremendous form and uh he's one of the very good finishers. I mean Indian finishers we have in the IPL.
>> Okay let's look at to the chase unless you've got anything on RKU.
>> No happy to go to the chase.
>> Do do the chase now. I wonder what RCB might take from the last game to make life a little easier for them.
>> What have you got so far just on RCB and what to look out for in the chase?
>> I think one of the interesting dynamics actually is right at the start. Um obviously Kohley's coming off a couple of ducks but more generally he's been slightly more aggressive I think when he's open with Bethl than when he's with Salt. I think when Salt plays alongside him he just bats and Phil Salt slipstream. It's you know bread and butter stuff for him. He bats at his pace. I think because Bethl's probably slightly different type of player to salt, probably more all round player, more of a three format player. Kohley sort of almost feels like he has to take it upon himself. We saw that over against GT where he went after Rabada.
Um so I'll be interested to see what tempo he goes at particularly against a relatively inexperienced you'd say KKR attack. I don't know whether they'll get the debutant left arm with the new ball.
>> They are indeed. He's holding the ball right now as you speak.
>> Then you've got Vibav um Thiagi. is there this it's not quite as it's not an established international tactic.
>> The steam bowling is certainly inexperienced. Do you see merit in that that Kohi is perhaps playing a different tempo since his partners changed?
>> I think he's just easing Bethl into the IPL into RCB. uh he's just taking the onus on him to ease some pressure off Bethl and it's a good thing to do because as a senior partner uh you would want uh a talented guy like Bethl to succeed get into his own uh rhythm form and tempo where he would become a match winner uh in his own accord. So yeah I think it's a good thing to do and uh you know good that Kohli is taking that onus on him. Will it change tonight though given could could Kohli just sort of drop ankle almost like Raguanchi maybe play at a certain tempo but they wouldn't want to find themselves in the hole that they did in the MI chase. Do you see them playing this a little smarter?
>> Uh yeah look I I think Coley once he starts to not score runs. I think he's probably more inclined to touch on the conservative side and and he'll use the surface and the way it's been under the covers as a a mass to kind of come out and and just strike at that 135 strike rate which I think is all that's needed if I'm going to be honest.
>> Okay, quick word on wenki bats.
I think he should come ahead of Jitesh if he's uh I mean of course he's playing so yeah he should play in that middle order try and control uh the tempo against spin uh because he has played so much with Sunil Naran he understands Sunil Naran as well as Anul Roy he has seen them in close quarters in the net so he should be batting through the middle >> what everything I've heard from KKR is that Naran does not bowl much in the nets >> or bowls very little in the nets >> but at least you watch >> you have an idea yeah I'm Or you'd be surprised if you spend 10 years with Naran and he gives you nothing.
>> Yeah, I I'd probably be inclined to actually put Jatish in there because >> I mean every time Jatish has been up against he's struggled. So I think given the opportunity against Nar what's the worst that can happen >> interesting if someone is going to take down Naran Kohley strikes about 102 against him. I don't know how many batters boast of a high strike rate against Sunil Naran. Will he be a major threat on this surface? Naran.
>> Yes I think so.
>> Sticky. sticky variable bounce. Uh >> and I think I think uh it's not >> I don't think it's a 190 batting first wicket. RCB didn't bowl that well.
>> Oh, okay. And on that note, let's get predictions. It looks like Raidu will be going for KK to defend this. And Sabu has started extremely well by the way.
He's beaten Jacob Bethl's bat a few times. So keep an eye out for the left arm from Vidarba. Mitch prediction. Uh, I think RCB will lose by 14.
>> Why would you not say KKR would win by 14?
>> Okay.
>> Sorry.
>> Fine. Very good. I do. Please don't make that mistake.
>> Yeah. No, no. I I just think uh RCB didn't bowl well. Uh I think it's 20 above par.
So I I see them I see KKR winning this game.
>> Ah, you just swapped it at the end. KK to win it. Uh, and you're not giving me a margin, but you think K.
>> Yeah, K.
>> Matt, >> I think we're going to be here for a while yet. I think uh RCB off the last ball >> again in Raipur. Two last ballers in Raipur.
>> As long as we're not here any longer than that, I'd be okay. So RCB to chase the last.
>> I will say super over tonight.
>> Yeah, let's see where that goes. All right, let's see where we are. Thank you very much to Mitch McClan, and Nambati Raidu, Matt Roller as well. This is a game that has huge ramifications in the race to the playoffs for both teams. So, let's see where it stands after it's done. Ripur has a reputation to live up to and let's see if we go down to the wire again like we did in the MI game.
