[00:00:01]>> Out of all the exoplanets that we discovered so far, this planet has the shortest amount of time before getting destroyed by the star. The name of this new planet is TOI-2431b, and it is the next addition to a short list of planets with a special orbit.

[00:00:15]I'm Guy Hanash. I have published a paper about planet discovery. This is a ultra short period planets, which are planets that have a period less than a day. This planet only has a year of like 5 hours.

[00:00:27]You can have a birthday like four birthdays within a day. This puts the planet dangerously close to the Roche limit, the point where the star's gravity becomes larger than a planet's.

[00:00:37]And TOI-2431b is spiraling closer and closer to that limit. And then we expect it to be destroyed by the star by the whole star because of how close they are together.

[00:00:47]Until that happens in about 31 million years, many astronomers will have the chance to study the planet.
