Viola Liuzzo, a mother of five from Detroit, Michigan, drove 700 miles to Selma, Alabama on March 25, 1965, to help civil rights marchers. She was attacked and killed by KKK members while saving 19-year-old Leroy Moton, and her courageous sacrifice helped inspire the Voting Rights Act of 1965.
