🚨 Nuclear Warning issued for California - Radiological Monitoring Equipment deploys near Los AngelesHinzugefügt:
This is big breaking news. A nuclear warning has been issued for the west coast of the United States and radiological monitoring equipment has been deployed right outside of Los Angeles, California. So, let's get into all the details here. You guys can see this is the situation right now happening in California. All right.
Currently, the Sandy Fire is 2,115 acres. This is happening in Ventura County and it's approximately 22% contained. The reason why this is significant is because evacuations have been ordered and radiological monitoring air equipment has been deployed as well.
Here you can see here, this is an update from May 20th at 7:08 p.m. local time.
It says, "Due to the Sandy Fire's proximity to the Santa Susanna Field Laboratory area, air quality monitoring is being conducted around the fire perimeter. Monitoring equipment has been proactively deployed to establish background air quality readings and to help assess conditions should the fire further advance into the area. At this time, the fire is not crossed into the field laboratory property." All right.
So, this Santa Susanna field laboratory area is actually a former nuclear testing site.
You guys can see here, this is from the California government government website for Department of Toxic Substances Control. And it says here that SS FL is roughly 2,850 acres in the semi valley where rocket engine testing and nuclear research took place. DTSC is a lead regulatory agency overseeing the cleanup along multiple federal and local government agencies.
All right. So you guys can see here the fire, all right, is encroaching right up on the rocket dine Santa Susanna field lab. This is a previous nuclear reactor test site and has lots of radioactive materials that are in the soil and in the plants and the grass surrounding the region. So if this fire spreads to this field test site, then it could potentially release radioactive isotopes into the environment and into the air and people would be breathing this in. This is why they have deployed uh air monitoring equipment and they are establishing background reading tests.
All right, that's specifically to see background levels of radiation and then compare it if the fire does reach this field test site to what the radiation levels are afterwards. All right, so this fire is serious. It's been going on for days at this point and we have multiple fires going on. There's also another fire in Riverside, California, the Bane Fire that has been burning out of control as well. All right, so there's lots of radioactive material and isotopes in the soil here and surrounding region where things could potentially spread into the air and people are breathing it. You guys can see here um these air monitoring equipments that have been put up in place to establish these background levels.
And this actually happened a couple years ago. You guys can see here this was in 2018. It says radioactive waste fell on some LA area neighborhoods during the 2018 Woosey fire. New study shows the majority of samples found just quote background or normally occurring levels of radioactivity, but 11 samples showed significantly elevated levels of radioactive materials. All right. And this was specifically in the region where this fire is happening right now.
It's right outside of the Thousand Oaks neighborhood um where this fire is happening. All right.
And that's where the highest you guys can see it says Thousand Oaks over here. Uh that's where the highest level of radiation was measured from this fire.
All right. So, there's lots of different stuff here. There's thorium.
um uranium, lots of different radioactive isotopes are in the soil here. Uh there's cesium, there's strontium as well.
And there's a long-term cleanup going on with NASA, the Department of Energy, with California, um even Boeing is involved as well, too.
All right. So, if you're in this region, you need to be cautious and be aware of this that these substances could be raining down on you, right? It's very close to the test site and most likely already is burning uh radioactive material, right? And it turns into ash, floats around, and it spreads, right? It can now land in your yard, contaminate your yard, or you can even breathe it in. All right, so this actually happened in 2018.
All right, so this could happen again.
This test site is a complete uh ecological disaster here. I mean, it's kind of crazy to think that there's so many homes that are built right here around this rocket test site. But um that's how things were. You can see it's right outside of Los Angeles here. All right. Right west of it. And then we have the Bane Fire over here on the east side of Los Angeles. All right. Near Riverside.
So multiple fires are putting pressure on the emergency services. Also, the Santa Rosa Island fire has now spread to over 17,000 acres and it was initially started by a guy that crashed his sailboat and fired a flare towards the island and it started a fire on the island.
Apparently, that's what's going on here.
Pretty wild story. Um, the Channel Islands are specifically known to have unique species of animals. Uh, unique species of a fox lives there. And also certain flowers and plants only live on this island or only native to this island. And, you know, experiencing a fire is definitely devastating.
So hopefully that ecosystem recovers. A lot of these ecosystems actually built themselves around having fire sometimes as well. So who knows? It might come back even stronger. It might be even there might be even more, you know, uh plants and things like that that are growing out of the soil here. All right, that was burned. Sometimes you'll have seeds brought up and things like that that were previously uh buried. So hopefully it can recover, but it's still devastating. It's spread very rapidly. It's started in a small little patch over here by the coast and it's spread to, you know, 17,000 acres now. It's taking, you know, around 30% of the island. It's now covered in fire.
and they had to aerial evacuate National Guard members here. Right. So, these multiple fires here are overwhelming the emergency services. We have another one here, Foothill Fire as well, 93 acres.
It's mostly uh farmland over here, but still causing issues. All right, because they are thinning resources especially.
So, let me know what you guys think down below of this potentially radioactive fire. It's We're most likely already getting fire interactions with this um field lab, right? It's a very large area. It's thousands of acres. And you know, they were doing lots of tests here. So these isotopes and these radio nucleotides are all around this region and the soil.
All right. So kind of crazy to think people are just living right there. It's a former site, but it's still it's kind of like a hazardous waste zone. And this is like prime uh real estate. You know, these are very expensive homes and there's lots of like big mansions and things like that here.
Uh, pretty wild to think that it's all built surrounding a nuclear waste test site.
All right, so let me know what you guys think down below. You guys can see here as well just to get some more information on this. Um, it's saying here, "Wildfire crews race to keep fierce California blaze from former nuclear reactor site." Says, "Shifting winds place a former nuclear reactor and rocket testing site in the path of the growing Sandy Fire. The region's first major blaze of the season raised alarm from families aware of the site's history and spotty cleanup."
All right, so you guys can see here some pictures. cuz I mean it's it's right there right on the edge of these neighborhoods. Um surprised that we haven't had more homes lost. There have been a few homes lost.
Um but not a lot of bulk neighborhood homes have been hit. It's mostly just been like a house here or there that's kind of, you know, down a road away from the other ones where they just couldn't establish a line there to push it back. All right.
It's saying here that her gray SUV and a fireproof bag ready Melissa Bumpstead didn't waste any time Monday as plumes of smoked engulf the sky near her suburb.
Most neighbors in West Hills, about 30 miles west of downtown Los Angeles, stayed put after only a voluntary evacuation warning was issued for the area, but not her. All right, so people are leaving. Um, at least 30,000 people are under ma mandatory evacuations right now.
And you guys can see here it says that Santa Susanna Field Laboratory is known locally as a problem site with a pockmarked history amid a spotty cleanup. A blaze hitting the former nuclear reactor and rocket testing site would be a cataclysm. quote, "This is what it looks like to evacuate when you're scared because if the smoke were to be radioactive or toxic, you don't want to breathe it, right?" So, kind of crazy.
I mean, we hear things in the news, you know, about nuclear war sometimes, but sometimes these threats actually come from, you know, unconventional means, from things you don't really expect it to come from. All right? And something that you're living near, too, right? A lot of people do know about this in the area that have lived there um for a while, but a lot of people have just moved there as well or they don't really know that they're living near this former uh test site, right? Nuclear test site.
It's saying here this is an ongoing situation and as it evolves, we will continue to monitoring the fire conditions. Radiation exposure has short-term as well as long-term impacts, including greater risk of developing cancer and possible harms to cardiovascular and immune systems. The Sandy Fire, which surpassed 1600 acres on Tuesday with only 15% containment based on earlier reports, burned near Semi Valley. We know it's higher than that. It's 2200 acres and uh 20% contained. More than 33,000 people in the valley and other communities were placed under evacuation orders and at least one home has been destroyed as of Tuesday afternoon.
The cause remains under investigation.
Um there's also been lots of power outages as well too, right?
Certain companies out west. I've seen it all over the place. I've seen Nevada.
I've seen Utah and California now and Colorado um all report how but I've seen Nevada, Utah, and California in the past week or two all say how they are going to cut the power due to these red flag warnings due to uh very dry conditions and uh high winds. They're saying they're going to turn off your power cuz the power lines could fall, could spark, and cause a fire, right? That's their rationing here. So, this kind of reasoning is spreading. It kind of started in Colorado, but now it's spreading to more uh western states. And it's a simple solution. All they have to do is bury the power lines so this doesn't happen. Uh but for now, they're cutting people's power.
All right. So, let me know what you guys think down below. Let me know what you're doing if you're in the area. Are you leaving? Are you staying? If you're in the voluntary evacuation areas, what are you doing? Hope you guys are staying safe, staying prepared, staying stocked up, staying ready. Hope you have big blessings for your life and your family, and I hope you have a big old blessed day.
