Carney Lashes Out at Alberta + Special Guest | Stand on Guard

[00:00:01]Welcome back to another episode of Stand On Guard. Thanks for joining me on this Thursday morning. Great to be with you.

Going to have one of our supporters on the show today in a few minutes, but we've got a couple of things to go through first in the news and so very happy to have Susie Sanderson with us and we're just going to talk about some current events and what's on our mind today.

[00:00:24]But wanted to go through a couple of things that have been interesting and we'll be right back with that.

[00:01:08]>> We're doing it live as we do seven days a week. Want to go through a couple stories in the news with you here.

[00:01:14]Canadians are filing for insolveny uh at a higher rate not seen at a rate not seen since the great depression. This is an economic indicator of how bad the economy is in Canada, how bad the Mark carney government is. And of course these are these are things you really can't ignore. Polly has been talking about this given its massive debt and never ending deficits. Ottawa should not I have to use my glasses for this should should not waste tens of billions of dollars in tax credits and cash on a project that has no chance of achieving its public policy objective even if it does give the prime minister political cover. This is Joe Oliver talking about the pipeline and of course we talked about this yesterday. We can't afford a 20 billion dollar pathway to nowhere.

[00:02:01]And this is something fair has been talking about about private property rights are disappearing. Guideline number 14 deals with limitations and equitable defenses in litigation involving indigenous right. It instructs federal government lawyers too. And this is why the Mark Carney government is playing both sides of the street with property rights claiming the liberal party believes in property rights. Carne government believes in property rights is not true. Guideline number 14 deals with limitations and equitable defenses in litigation involving indigenous right and instructs federal government lawyers to plead defenses like limitation periods uh delay or equitable defenses only when there is a strong principled basis and supporting evidence. Generally avoid or limit long-standing defenses such as extinguishment, surrender or abandonment of Aboriginal title rights.

[00:02:54]slits. Unless there is a clear evidence and high level approval, these should not be used routinely or just in the hope that discovery might turn something up. So clearly the Mark Carney government is playing both sides of the street of this. But here's the video I wanted to show you. And this is this is incredible stuff here.

[00:04:40]>> So what was going on there? Well, clearly this was Mark Carney saying Daniel Smith did a stupid thing. Or maybe Daniel Smith is stupid for for calling for a referendum on a referendum. Bad mouthing Daniel Smith again. He threw her under the bus. Of course, the day after we had the interview with Jeff Wrath talking about there was somebody close to Smith's office who leaked the information that she was doing this referendum on a referendum stopping the formal independence referendum just to keep Mark Carney happy. Mark Carney of course didn't deny that was the case, just that she didn't go far enough. So, let's listen to his response to this. clarify some remarks that you made after the scrum on Monday. When you were leaving the press conference, you spoke with Minister Robertson and I want to read what you set out. What are you doing?

[00:05:30]This is stupid. You've got an offramp.

[00:05:32]Take it. That to me sounds like you're talking about Daniel Smith and the Alberta referendum question.

[00:05:36]>> You're talking to Minister Roberts.

[00:05:38]>> But can you can you clarify what you you were discussing in that point in time because the the scrum was about what the Smith had done.

[00:05:43]>> No, it was about Minister Robertson. I have um uh I think uh if if I'm going to I'm going to take your question uh about uh the relationship with Canada and Alberta, Canada and the federal government and uh and the provinces and we're we practice cooperative federalism. Uh we work together. What we're f focused on is making the federation work. Uh we're doing that with Alberta uh with respect to a variety of aspects of energy. It's much more than a pipeline. It's nuclear. Uh it's interconnects with British Columbia. It's a new industry of carbon capture. It's restarting the renewable market. Uh it's getting a carbon market that actually works that other provinces can be able to join so we can broaden out a national carbon market. That's what we're doing there. We're here uh talking about defense industrial strategy, the benefits of the announcement we just made uh around the negotiations uh led by Secretary State and uh President Guzman on uh the global eye uh and the fact that that will bring a third of the production of those uh uh those aircraft uh to Canada of the global production a minimum of a third uh to Canada benefits for uh supply chains in uh in Quebec. back uh and also across the country. That's what we're focused on and that that's >> that was not about the >> uh that's my answer is my answer. Thank you.

[00:07:08]>> Not much of an answer. So that was another bit of non-denial denial. So want to bring Susie Sanderson onto the show now. Susie, welcome.

[00:07:20]Well, thank you David for having me and thank you everyone for uh being part of my journey in uh common sense as we tread water in unchartered waters.

[00:07:33]>> Well, that's it's interesting you should say that. So, I know you've been a fan of the show for quite some time. You watch a lot of broadcasts. You stay informed. So, what what attracts you specifically to to my show?

[00:07:45]Well, David, I honestly asked my father in heaven for wisdom and understanding.

[00:07:52]And one thing I know that God has always done, he's always placed people before me. And I understand we've all had people come into our lives, sometimes for a whole lifetime and some for just a season. But it's because of your show. I mean, I undertood who Sam Cooper was, but it it's really blossomed who Sam Cooper is or Jason James and who they are in how I make my decisions. And I guess what I love so much about the people in the chat here is they challenge me. They give me directions. I love their wit. I love their banter. I love their sarcasm.

[00:08:41]But we're allowing each other to grow and and come up with common sense. And I'm a true westerner at heart. And when I was a little girl, you know, every October we have elections in our communities and somebody was campaigning because back in the day people would come to your door and hand you a pamphlet and and uh they would express to you uh you know, I hope I can count on your support. And I said to my parents, um well, what is the mayor and who are these counselors? They explained to me in a very simple way that they're like the mother or father of the community or the aunts and uncles that make the decisions. And that's exactly what the premier's role is. And that's exactly what the prime minister of whoever they are of the nation. They are the mothers and fathers of our nations.

[00:09:38]And so far we've had to kind of take on our own authority in our own community.

[00:09:45]Um because it just seems that our mothers and fathers are making decisions that a lot of us don't agree with.

[00:09:53]>> Well, I think the government of BC is making some decisions that a lot of people in BC are disagree with. I had Dallas Brody on the show this week, the leader of the 1BC party, MLA from the Vancouver, Greater Vancouver area. She expressed and has expressed a lot of concern of both the government of BC act not even being a government anymore.

[00:10:14]It's a coalition between the NDP party and the first nations chiefs some of whom are calling all the shots. She and and Dallas didn't even think it was an equal partnership at all. And and of course with the when Premier David Eveie embraced the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous People Act UN DRIPA a lot of people said that was a line was crossed that no and private properties no longer sacrian no longer protected in British Columbia. Do you do you feel that private property rights are being threatened now because because of the BC provincial governments?

[00:10:54]>> Oh absolutely. Uh the economy is absolutely tanked with house sales. I mean they're they're below 20%.

[00:11:02]Um and and really can you can you really um uh can can you really uh under have not thoughts? I mean would I go and buy over a million dollar home had I not um if if I'm not even going to own the property? I don't think so. Um, and Dallas is amazing. Um, I had said to you in a conversation on the phone one day, if I won the lottery, I said I would literally, um, move my residence to her writing and purchase a home or a condo and live in that writing just so I could personally vote for her. I think she's an amazing individual with wisdom and understanding from above. and she is by far acting like the mother of the province and making sure that everyone's rights matter in the family of the residents.

[00:12:04]>> Yes. Well, it's certainly a lot of people are alarmed. Could you could you guess kind of move over the center a bit there? So, you're out of Yeah, you're out of the picture. So, okay. Thank you. And I wanted to touch briefly. I know you you spent some time in Moose Jaw. We won't talk much about this. I understand there, you know, it's it's a difficult question, but I've been doing a lot of research lately on these data collection centers and con at the same time I've been trying to figure out what's going on with Canada's national arobatic team, the Snowbirds 431 air demonstration squadron based at 15 wing moose gel. And they have been of course throughout their entire career. That's really been the mainstay of that of that base CFB moose jaw 15-wing moose jaw.

[00:12:53]Government is now saying, well, the tutor is going to be retired. And of course, they could they could replace the tutor tomorrow if they really wanted to, but they're talking about keeping the the team in mothballs for at least five years. That to me smacks a we're not bringing the team back.

[00:13:09]>> So, I think that's probably what's what's going on here. But what what concerns me is that with a data collection center going up in Moose John, I know you you lived in Mooj for a while, do you do you think the design of this government because we've seen liberal governments in the past close a lot of bases? I think of the Cretchen government. Uh as soon as the reform party came on the scene, Chilowette closed, Calgary closed the bases that were in what they considered politically uh enemy territory, if you will. So >> Mooj I fear is on the chopping block. I think the snowbirds aren't coming back.

[00:13:49]And I think the reason is this data collection center which is going to be occupying a huge amount of space taking up huge amounts of energy a lot of water and if I recall there's not a whole lot of water in Saskatchewan you know and it's not like there's there's lakes everywhere or they're near the ocean but do you think there's a connection here between this data collection center which is going out and which I'm I'm very critical of these centers because all they exist to do not just to suck up energy and to take up a lot of rural land and dispossess farmers is to collect data on us all. So do you think there's possibly a connection here between >> diminishing resources at Moose Jaw at the base and and this collection center?

[00:14:40]Well, um I I I don't have 100% facts for sure, David, but um it it does pause to wonder when you mentioned Krenshin and the uh Snowbirds and the blocking of that. I was at a mess dinner as an associate rep the night that Colonel Hunter announced way back when Kretchen did uh take away $2 billion. That was in the late 90s. And I thought, am I hearing this right? Well, if if we're supposed to be worried about nuclear arms, then then why would we not be increasing? Why isn't there a $2 billion increase to our military? And as far as the center in Valley, uh, since this was brought to my attention, I I did use AI to find out about it. and Capri or I'm saying it incorrectly probably the P people that purchased that property uh Valley View closed it says on AI in 2019 and the next year in 2020 they purchased it for this but Capri means harvest and that's exactly what they're doing they're harvesting information now on one side of the coin you could say oh well they're going to bring technology they're going to introduce uh uh medical beds for health and wellness. They're going to uh restructure uh an ecosystem for growing plants and things. And oh, how could this be harmful in in any way, shape, or form? We're we're aiding to society. Um well, uh I guess that's partially true, but but what are are are the side effects on the other side of that coin? And why do they have to harvest everything about us? Um I spoke with a friend who was convolesing from having knee surgery and I said did did the citizens in Moo have an opportunity to vote if they even wanted this in the community? She said I have no idea what you're talking about. And I said well it's about data. And she said well how much do they need to know? She said I've got a smartphone on my wrist. I've got a phone in my hand talking to you and my laptop is on my bedside table. How much do they need to know about us?

[00:17:05]>> Exactly.

[00:17:06]>> And to that point, um, the other day on X after your program, I I I was thumbming through some things and they were talking about smart meters on our homes for hydro and electricity. And this gentleman was saying that the smart meters are so sensitive that they can tell when people have turned on their electric toothbrush. They can tell from the sensitivity of those smart meters how long you're brushing your teeth.

[00:17:40]Now, when I was a kid, my mom and dad said, "You have to sing happy birthday twice before you can stop brushing your teeth."

[00:17:46]>> Yeah. But why is it so important that they need to know every detail? I suffered from sleep apnea. I was diagnosed with that years ago. And we all have those of us that that suffer with that have these expensive two and $2500 machines. And uh when I relocated here, I hadn't used my machine for about a month. And um I thought, "Oh, well, I I better turn it on and use it and get a good night's sleep." I thought, well, I used it for two days in a row and later that afternoon, I got a phone call from the people that I purchased this from, and they said, "Oh, we noticed that you were using your sleep apnnea machine the last two days, and can we offer you an appointment to come in and have it recalibrated?"

[00:18:34]>> And I thought, I'm thousands of kilometers away from your office, but they already know every detail about us.

[00:18:44]Interesting.

[00:18:45]>> Yeah.

[00:18:46]>> Very very interesting.

[00:18:47]>> How much do they really need on the technology of the people of Moojaw and the citizens and and everyone that is there?

[00:18:54]>> Yeah. And these are going up across the country, too. And >> yes, >> we're going to be close to what China has. And of course, that's a lot of people are saying, well, we have to keep up the China. United States has almost over double the amount of data collection centers that China has.

[00:19:09]Canada is almost on par with China. So I don't really think that's >> an issue anymore. I think these are clearly about surveillance and >> gobbling up energy that we don't really have. So thanks for your your your thoughts on that as as a as a westerer, somebody who's uh a community you used to live in is going to be very very much affected by this. So I'll leave it at that in terms of that issue. I wanted to touch briefly with you on what do you think is the major issue confronting Canada right now. What is I hate to use the word challenge because that's what Justin Trudeau like to talk I I would even say what what do you think is the greatest threat to our freedom in Canada today?

[00:19:55]Well, I think we've been very blasze and and we just took our freedom for granted uh all of our our lives, no matter what our age is. And and I think all all of your followers here believe that. And and you know, God is in us. And I think, you know, when I was a kid and I would meet somebody and they kind of creeped me out, I I would say, "Oh, he gives me the heebie-jebies."

[00:20:23]Well, as a true westerner in Canadian, Ottawa has given me the heebie-jebies for decades, and I'm afraid that um um our our the new world order is really taking effect. I was at an 80th birthday party last week and four there was eight people there and four were considered with conservative living ideas and four just thought Carney and Eie were just the best things in sliced bread. And I drove one of the uh um guests to the ferry to so she could go back home. And um in conversation she had said, "Well, well, I think Carney's doing a great job and I'm like trying to keep the car on the road and not, you know, go in the ditch." And she said, "And I'm for, pardon me, um, uh, one world order." And I think you know that's the deception that whatever standard of living you are and this individual is a very bright kind-hearted woman. She's had the ability and the gift of being paid and lived in other nations and different continents throughout her career. And yet she doesn't understand like many that these these kids that are becoming socialists that if if if they think the whole world is the government's going to bring everyone's standard up to the standard that you're living at right now. I mean, they tell us you will own nothing.

[00:22:08]Yeah. And we're going to make sure that's going to be your happiness. And it's like what?

[00:22:15]And it is control. Control. Control.

[00:22:19]You're absolutely right, Derek. And and that's my fear is we are still being chastised for using our voice. the Freedom Con boy, Chris and Tamara. Later today, I'll join and watch them on House Arrest. And I'm sure all of your followers follow House Arrest with with Chris and Tamara every Thursday night.

[00:22:42]And the conversations, I mean, we have had our rights strippen. I'm I'm preaching to the choir here. We all know people that have had their bank accounts stifled because they donated 10 or $25 to the convoy.

[00:22:59]And the, you know, to round it back to to the the the harvesting of our information, what are they so afraid of? What is so important in us that they have to control us? And I mean re really um we're so played that we don't even go anywhere without our phones um you know to to walk along the esplanade to go and see if there's some orca whales out there or or or sea lines. Everybody's down there with their phone got it, you know on the the water's edge.

[00:23:43]>> Yeah. and they're missing the whole point of just having that blessed memory.

[00:23:49]Wow, these orcas appeared and they splashed down. You know, we're trying to prove to everybody what we know and who's got the fastest information and who's right and who's wrong.

[00:24:02]Whereas, I guess what I'm saying, what I love about the people that come and follow um stand on guard, they've got common sense.

[00:24:12]there's something stirring in them and and I hear and see God in them and that draws me to better wisdom and understanding.

[00:24:22]Am I afraid? Uh I'm going to trust in God. I I I belong.

[00:24:42]Well, I think we've bought your back.

[00:24:48]>> Yeah. Sorry. Sorry about that. But and and we pray for um you know, all the >> Okay.

[00:25:01]>> I'm I'm not touching anything or doing that. So, >> I I don't know. Well, >> anyways, I guess people don't want me to talk about that.

[00:25:58]Even faith itself is not our own merit.

[00:26:03]It is a gift that awakens our response.

[00:26:08]This truth humbles and frees.

[00:26:12]There is no reason to boast and no reason to fear.

[00:26:17]Salvation is not maintained by performance but by divine faithfulness.

[00:26:26]And the one who lives from this grace walks in joy, not in anxiety, for he knows he has been reached and not that he has earned a place. And the thought of the day for resist the devil.

[00:26:43]Grace does not improve the strong. It saves the helpless who believe. And I'm just grateful to the convoy who molded Canada so that we could believe together to fight for our freedoms and fight for our country. And as a great grandmother, you know, my kids might say, "Baba, why are you doing this?"

[00:27:08]I just hope that someday my great grandchildren will know that um I stayed in the fight, even in a quiet way. Um we we pray for for um our governments to really do look after the people.

[00:28:20]>> How big of a faction of the UCP support base is occupied for by separatists? And I ask against the backdrop of these accusations leveled against the premier and it's coming from a lot of different corners, but that she's essentially doing this to appease that faction.

[00:28:36]>> Yeah. So, I think the best data that I can work from would suggest that about half the UCP base in Alberta is on some spectrum between hard separatist and I'm really dissatisfied with the status quo and can maybe send a message to Ottawa by voting to leave. Right? So, this is a a very significant faction of her of her base. Um, and I think Janet is quite right to note that, you know, hard support for leaving Canada is pretty stable at 27%. But if we're going to be moving into a space where we're going to have a non-binding referendum ahead of a of a binding referendum, then the ballot question is not going to be are we staying or going, the ballot question is going going to be are people happy with Ottawa? Are people happy with the status quo in Canada? And because it will be a non-binding question, that is going to give people a lot of permission to just treat this as a way of sending Ottawa a message. And that's how we get from a 27% support to a 50 or 60 60% support really quickly. And that's when we get a perpetual potential crisis around succession that will infect Alberta politics for many years to come.

[00:29:41]>> You're nodding, Graham.

[00:29:42]>> All right. So, leave that what she's saying there. And Daniel Smith did survive a challenge to her leadership yesterday. Not writ large and not with the uh with the party rank and with the party membership, but wanted to have a look at a couple things that are brewing on X this morning. And uh this is this is fascinating by the way from uh Gabrielle Cuchia.

[00:30:15]She is talking about how and I found this incredible. This report is absolutely beyond belief that there's a blacklist now being held by the Trump administration's anti-terrorism expert and that people are on this list like Candace Owens, like Tucker Carlson, Mario is on this list apparently as well. This is a guy fairly innocent guy. He does a lot of interviews with people, gets a lot of divergent opinion, but I would not think he is posing any threat. I neither do I think Candace Owens or Dr. Carlson do, but and so I encourage you to have a look at this. I'm not going to go into too much depth about this uh right now, but because there's just so much happening.

[00:31:07]If you have have a chance, watch this debate between Jason Kenny and Keith Wilson on Alberta independence. I think most people generally are are saying if you support independence, you think Wilson won. If you don't, you think Kenny won. I think uh Wilson won this debate. And like I said, I'm trying to be objective about this whole issue. I think that's where that's where I need to be as a as a reporter. I'm sympathetic, but I'm I'm also I'm understanding of both sides and but I'm always going to give people who want to talk about this room to talk about it. And I want to thank Gray McKenzie for honest reporting because this clearly this was a reference to Alberta Premier Daniel Smith in this which showed you this earlier. And uh here I'll I'll show it to you again here.

[00:33:17]And is Aaron Gunn, great member of Parliament from British Columbia. Wow.

[00:33:22]Liberal Minister of Housing Gregor Robertson says a quiet part out loud, arguing his belief that Aboriginal title and feast sinful title should coexist on the private property of Canadian homeowners. When asked why his government is appealing the coward decision, he attempts to duck the question, change the subject, and finally accuse every Canadian of a legitimate concerns of fear-mongering and misinformation. And also special thanks to Liberal floor crosser MP Marilyn Gladu for her incredibly useful contribution near the end of this exchange.

[00:33:54]But you cannot have it both ways.

[00:33:58]And this is the problem with this issue is the people in in the BC government which is now a coalition of the of the unwilling between the new democratic party government and the and the first nations chiefs who are really calling all the shots in that province now.

[00:34:21]So I have to say good thank you Elizabeth May for a a a brief moment here of sanity for saying you will not be supporting bill C-22. She calls the bill appalling warning it could force tech companies to insert spyware for police and said it needs major amendments. No very very much so.

[00:34:43]Now this to me is incredible. This is Avi Lewis, the new leader of the New Democratic Party, federal New Democratic Party. And just listen to listen to Avi Lewis here.

[00:34:56]It's different for Alberta.

[00:34:57]>> The separation movement in Alberta has no point of comparison with the historic sovereignty movement in Quebec. This is a megaal aligned, potentially funded, disruptive movement um that has been uh uh uh really thrown into national prominence by Danielle Smith addressing this question that a a portion of her base, a small minority of Albertans, the vast majority of whom want to stay in Canada, don't want to have a a referendum that will rip the country apart. So that it's not it's not the same thing. The separation movement in Alberta has >> so it's not the same thing because it's Alberta and no they're special in Quebec.

[00:35:39]They're allowed to have sovereignty thoughts. They're allowed to think about Quebec independence but not in Alberta because it's mega aligned.

[00:35:50]I've been waiting for this to happen because the left has always dismissed western separation or Alberta independence with this sort of jab that well because it's coming from conservatives it's somehow not valid and because it's the left has been driving the independence movement at least you know in the PQ party and the block kebewa the left has been been driving the Quebec independence movement for decades. That's okay in Quebec. But don't think they can do that sort of thing in Alberta.

[00:36:30]So, you know, this this is absolute nonsense to me. So, here here is Stephen Gilbo and we've reported the other day, of course, he was leaving the Liberal Caucus. Well, he's leaving Parliament.

[00:36:43]He's he's had enough. Let's listen to what he has to say about it.

[00:36:52]>> Did the prime minister, I should be more specific. Um there was some conversation with with with with his office um where they you know they said they they were interested in in in in keeping me on on board but at the same time I don't think they were particularly pleased with the fact that I I was being publicly vocal in in in my disagreement with with with the government on on some of those issues.

[00:37:21]So I I think it's um I respect the prime minister. I respect the the the team and and and cabinet and my my my colleagues.

[00:37:30]I it's just time for me. I came into pol and people come into politics for different reasons. That's why I came into politics. And if I can't work on that and help move those issues uh in inside politics, I'm just going to go and do it somewhere else.

[00:37:45]>> Do you think the possibility exists for others to follow suit? What does your gut tell you? Uh, I think it's a good question. Um, I mean, as you know, in our parliamentary system, it's very rare to see a cabinet minister leave cabinet um of their own. Usually, you're asked to leave or there's an election, there's a cabinet shuffle. Um, I I can tell you that I'm not the only one who's uncomfortable with what's happening.

[00:38:13]I other than that, I'm I'm not sure what people will do.

[00:38:24]>> So, is Mark Carney going to exploit this for his own advantage or is this clearly bad news? It's I think Mark Carney is continuing continuing to do whatever he can to attract conservatives and BQ members over. But I don't think losing Steven Gilbo is that much of a problem for him. And uh interesting too. We noted this yesterday. I don't think I I put this online.
