My Dad Wrote a Riff... So I Finished it with AI!Added:
I got my pops in town visiting and we are going to take a look at some of his licks. You know, he's been writing on guitar and he's never really recorded or like been in a proper band or done anything like that. I don't want his ideas to just all disappear when he passes on to the next realm. He's been recording them on his phone, making some videos and stuff and I said, all right, well, let's take some of those ideas and then put it into AI and see if we can turn his idea into a song today. My pops, everybody. All right. We're going to make a song out of one of your licks and let's go ahead and listen to it.
>> [music] [music] >> So, this is a video that he sent me cuz I told him he needs to start recording his ideas.
He was saying, wow, I like this lick.
>> Yeah, it's nice. He was saying, oh, I have all these ideas that I've been playing on guitar and if you don't record them, they just disappear. You'll never hear them again.
>> remember.
>> [music] >> You can never remember a good lick.
And we can drag it right into Ableton.
First thing we're going to do is we are going to get rid of some of that noise.
We got Waves X9 here. We're going to do high resolution. We're going to learn, okay?
>> [music] >> Look at that. Hear Hear how much noise we're able to reduce there? So, now we're going to put this on the grid, pops. We're going to want to find maybe the best part. So, we'll wait until you really hit the riff right. Yeah, it's good how it is.
Uh, just trust me here, Mike.
>> [music] >> Do I have to? Yeah, I'm I'm the music producer here who knows how to make music and you've never done it ever.
>> [laughter] >> So, let's hear what we got so far. Bass comes in here.
Okay. Little bit of drums.
>> [music] >> Okay.
Cymbals.
>> [music] >> Now, let's see what the AI comes up with. We'll throw it into Suno. Suno.
All right.
All right.
I got to stop doing that. Every time I want to talk, I'm like Don't need to hurt people's ears. Let's do our first Suno cover of this. Okay.
Here we go. Just let it do what it wants. Just whatever it wants. Okay, I just threw it in there and I'm just going to hit create. I didn't touch anything. All right, we're going to listen. Here we go. Okay.
>> [music] >> I approve.
Wow. Some harmonics. Yeah.
>> [music] >> Wow. I like what it did. [music] That's so cool.
>> [music] >> I guess we could do this.
>> [music] [music] >> Suno, that's my friend.
So, we just brought his idea to life.
This is a great little riff he wrote you know, in the morning at his house that would have been lost for eternity, >> [music] >> but instead we did a live stream today, brought it into Suno. Now, this is different. This is [music] This is beyond what he did.
>> This goes with it. It goes with it, but it's beyond what he did. But, his riff, that initial idea, is now captured [music] forever and will live on in the internet into eternity.
Ooh, man. They brought it to the next level with this.
>> [music] >> It's cuz it's got a good beginning.
That's right. It's all about the beginning, folks. Why don't you just tell us about what this experience was like hearing your melody that you created and I'm sure you had visions in your mind of where the song could go and what it could be.
What does it feel like to get that guitar into like a finished sounding song in Suno? How does that make you feel?
>> Elated. I am absolutely elated. Because I had always thought, boy, if I just had, you know, some really top-notch musicians around me, they could bring this song to life cuz the core of it, that core melody is just, you know, it's it's good. Yeah.
>> Brought all the musicians through, uh, you know, techno physics or whatever, surrounded my bass song and made it like I'm playing with Tom Petty and George Harrison and, uh, who knows, Dolly Parton. They're all in my band now.
Yeah. Yeah, you got the best players that ever existed. This is elating.
Very. Isn't it satisfying? Oh my word, I can't even believe it.
