Animals in BlueyAdded:
Blue is a very detailed show, whether it comes to the insane details that you could see in the background settings of the show or the physical characteristics of the characters. But there's another example that Bluey shows in regard to immense detail, and that's the animals themselves, which Bluey has quite a few of. So, in this video, we'll be going through the animals in Bluey. And before we start, please like and subscribe as it'll help me out a ton. Thanks.
First, and you may not believe me, but Blueie has a lot of dogs. And I mean a lot, with a ton of different breeds that I'm not going into, but I feel like considering this is an animals video, I have to mention the vast amount of different breeds of dogs that you can find in Bluey. But what you can't seem to find in Bluey are cats, at least so far. Cats must exist in the Bluey universe, as we have the TV show Cat Squad that the kids like, and a cat appears on the sign for the vet in the episode Copycat. And the kids have toys of cats, too. In fact, the kids have a ton of toys of different animals, but that's for a different video. Let's move on to living animals that aren't dogs.
We'll start out with insects, as there are quite a few in the show. The episode slide has a ton of these insects. First, there's an unidentified species of grasshopper that we can see in this episode on the slip and slide. It may be a yellow winged locust or a frog at buzzer, but both of these species are very loud, unlike this grasshopper.
>> Yeah, grasshopper, your lucky winger can fly, too. Nevertheless, the episode Slide has a grasshopper. Slide also has a beetle called a Christmas beetle, which are native to Australia and are known to appear in abundance during Australian summers, usually around Christmas, hence the name. Also, let's just appreciate the colors of this beetle in the show. Absolutely gorgeous.
This episode also has a five-spot ladybug, but not the specific ladybug that is called the five spot ladybug, as the spots are oriented differently. This means that this ladybug is also unidentified, but then again, it's just a ladybug. Again, this episode has another pretty unique-l lookinging bug called the hibiscus harlequin bug, which are very metallic and colorful creatures that resemble a harlequin or a clown.
And they like to feed on the sap of cotton. Again, a very beautiful bug in the show. Probably the most prominent bug in this episode is the ulysus butterfly. A very blue butterfly that we initially see as a caterpillar or its larvae in the episode the slide. And we see it grow into the beautiful blue butterfly it becomes. And the same exact butterfly comes back in the episode the sign. Finally, the last notable bug in the episode is the plant hopper, a jumping bug that really resembles a walking leaf and appears more notably in the episode The Weekend, as Bingo has a conversation with one.
>> You should be in a tree, Leaf.
>> But moving away from slide, there are of course more insects that appear in the series, such as a honeybee, which is spotted in the episode Ticklecrafts, which looks absolutely adorable in the show. By the way, there are more ladybugs in the show than just the five- spot ladybug, as there's actually a seven spot ladybug that is spotted in the episodes Butterflies and Daddy Put Down. But what's weird about this bug's inclusion is that it's not generally found in Australia, and it's way more common in Europe and Asia. There's also a three-spot ladybug in the episode Yoga Ball. And like the five-spotted ladybug, isn't identified as a specific species, though it may be the variable ladybug, who are native to Australia. If we go back to the episode tickle crabs, we can find another butterfly. This time it's a monarch butterfly who were introduced in Australia in the 19th century and they just look really beautiful. But did you know there's a third butterfly in the show? Believe it or not, there's a very tiny butterfly in the episode Muffin Cone called the grass yellow butterfly.
And you could see a few of them flying around as Muffin becomes a flower in the backyard. They almost look like yellow moths, but they're just really tiny butterflies. What's also really tiny are house flies, which you could find in the episodes of Claw and Christmas Swim, but is more prominently seen in the episode Tina as they fly around the kids. These bugs are very common around the world, much like ants. And we could see a specific ant called the black household ant in the episodes work, cubby, and slide, but is arguably most prevalent in the episode Bingo, as she acknowledges the ant carrying a blueberry. This specific type of ant is actually native to Australia, but is an invasive species in several nations around the world.
Let's go back to caterpillars and butterflies for a second, as there are even more throughout the show, such as itchy grubs, also known as the Australian processionary caterpillar, which you could find in the episode Piggyback as they walk across a sidewalk in a straight line. They're very big, hairy, and known to walk in long straight lines, and their hairs actually can cause pretty bad rashes and reactions to humans and other animals.
Finally, the last caterpillar that you can find in the show is the orchard swallowtail caterpillar in the episode Shadowlands. And it's a big green caterpillar that eats leaves and is known for its camouflage. And can you believe that there is another unidentified bug? It's the screaming bug in the episode barbecue that Bingo flings towards Bandit. It has eight legs, which means it isn't an insect and has antennas, meaning it's not an arachnid. So, it honestly might just be a madeup bug. What isn't made up are dragonflies, however, and there are two of them that you can find in the show.
One of them is the blue skimmer dragonfly that can be found in the depths of the creek and are quite common in the Brisbane area. The other dragonfly is the scarlet percher dragonfly which is also found in the creek as well as hideand seek and piggyback. Again, they're quite common in the Brisbane area and we get a nice close-up of it in the creek which is pretty cool. And those are all the insects in Bluey, but we're just getting started as there are more arthropods in the show who aren't insects. One of which is an unidentified species of crayfish, which is likely the common yabby, but there are tons of crayfish on Australia. And this crayfish is found in the episode The Creek. There's another yabby that you can find in the episode Fairy Tale that Grandpa Bob is sucking up from the ground. And these are Australian ghost shrimp, who are found in deep burrows and estuaries. If you go to the episode Stickford and the Beach, you can find light blue soldier crabs who often spend time buried in the sand, and they honestly look pretty cute in the show. There's another crab that you can see in Show and Tell, though it's just a claw, and it's a blue coral crab who feed on coral mucus and protect coral from predators. And finally, the last arthropod in Bluey is a prawn, which is being eaten in the episodes Pizza Girls and Daddy Put Down. Now, let's move on to birds, which Bluey has a ton of. First up is the Australian brush turkey, which you can find in the episode Army in the grass at the school, and it makes Jack and Rusty run away. In the episode Zadumpa and Explorers, you can find a coollooking bird called the sulfur crested cockatu who are found widely across eastern Australia. In the episode baby race, there is a picture of a bird called the southern casawaryi, the second largest bird in Australia and are quite aggressive and dangerous to both humans and other animals. In the epsid bedroom, there is a bird outside the kids bedroom that they named Malcolm and Malcolm is a white-headed pigeon.
The silver goal is a bird found in the episodes the beach, piggyback, fairy tale, and cubby and is a very common species all around Australia and are known to pester humans. In the episodes takeaway, trampoline, cafe, and bidnight, you could find the bird called the tisian crow who are native to Australia and is more notably found in the episode Bidnight digging in the trash, which Bluey scares away. In the episode's Magic Xylophone, Copycat, and Curry Quest, you could find gray butcher birds often seen in Australian suburbs and are known to impale their prey, hence their name. There's a pretty cool bird found in the episodes backpackers and show and tell called the laughing cuckabura and are very tamed to humans and have a distinctive laughing call. In the episode's tickle crabs and helicopter, you can find wandering albatrosses who have the longest wingspan of any bird in the world and spend the majority of their life flying.
There's a bird in the episode Copycat that you can spot called bluefaced honey eater, also known as the banana bird.
And they don't eat honey or bananas, rather invertebrates, and they have a pretty cool blue color face. In the episode Bob Bilby, you can find the gala, one of Australia's most widespread bird species and is the most common variety of cockatos. Speaking of cockatos, you can find a pink cockatu in the episode Postman. And honestly, this bird just looks so beautiful in Blue's art style, and they look quite unique in real life, too. You can find a chicken in a variety of Blueie episodes such as the adventure, early baby, Ms and Dads, Daddy Dropoff, Army, Explorers, Stories, Space, and Cricket. In the chicken could be found outside of Blue School. In the episode Keepy Upy and Curry Quest, you could find the Australian magpie who are very accomplished singers who can mimic different animals and some magpies will swoop at humans, which you can see in the episode Curry Quest for Wininton. In the episodes onesies and the sign, you can find a colorful bird called the welcome swallow, a small bird native to Australia who are viewed as a sign of spring approaching and specialize in catching insects. In the episode shops, you can find the splendid fairy ren, a blue Australian ren who is very bright blue in real life and is reflective off of UV light. Sadly, in the episode Copycat, you can find a dead budger, also known as a budgy, a small parrot who are popular pets that can mimic human speech. In the beach, a big bird flying in the air is an osprey, who are found on all continents except for Antarctica, and they eat fish. Also in the beach, you can find the Australian pelican, which Bluey interacts with, and are found across the Australian coast.
eat pretty much any animal that could fit in its mouth and has the largest beak of any bird in the world. In the epso's bike and copycat, you could find the Eurasian tree sparrow who are not native to Australia and are considered an invasive species. In the creek, there is an elegantl looking bird called the Australian pad comrade, a diving bird that often dries its feathers as seen in its pose in the episode as their feathers are not waterproof like other water birds. In the episode helicopter, you can find lightmantled albatrosses flying in the sky. They aren't typically found in Queensland and they're known for their unique gray coloring. Again, in the Epso copycat, you can find the pale-headed Rossella, a parrot found across Queensland, who are usually native to the forest rather than suburbs, and they're often sold as pets.
In the Epso's Wagon Ride, Cafe, Born Yesterday, Curry request, and Wild Girls, you could find a Willy Wagtail, a small bird with noticeably white eyebrows. And of course, they wag their tails as seen in Wagon Ride. In the episode Shawn, dance mode, piggyback, ice cream, and the sign, you could find the Australian white ibis. also known as bin chickens as they often eat trash from garbage bins. In the weekend and camping, you can find colorful birds called rainbow laurites. Commonly found in eastern Australia and are very brightly colored and is the most commonly observed bird in Australia. And finally, in the mini letter, you can find a drawing of a superb parrot who is native to southeastern Australia and is noticeably green in color. Those are all the birds in bluey. So now let's move on to fish, which there are quite a few of in the show. First up, at the end of the episode Stickbird, you can find an icer striped surgeon fish who have sharp scales on their tail and feed on algae.
In the episode's Copycat and Bucky Boats, you could find a cute goldfish, one of the most popular aquarium fish in the world and just looks absolutely beautiful in the show. In the episode Octopus, you can see many fish in Khloe's house. First, you can barely see a part of a flying fish who leap out of the water and glide with wing like fins to escape underwater predators. Next, you can see an electric eel in the episode who delivers electric shocks to stun prey and are actually more related to catfish than eels, surprisingly.
Next, you can see cardinal tetras, a small aquarium fish who have neon blue and red coloring and are popular but rare aquarium fish. I actually have some in my tank. Here's a picture of them.
Pretty cool. Next, you could see a guppy in the episode, which is one of the most popular aquarium fish in the world and comes in all sorts of colors and sizes.
I don't have guppies, but I do have endlers who are closely related. Here's a picture of them. And finally, the last fish in the episode is the yellow fin tuna, a predatorial fish who is extremely fast and they're one of the few fish who are warm-blooded. And finally, the last fish that you can find in the show are yellow tangs in the episode Whale Watching, found in the documentary that the parents showed to the kids and are quite common in saltwater aquariums.
Now, we're getting into the mammals and Bluey, and surprisingly, there aren't that many besides dogs. In the episode Road Trip, you can see some cows, obviously a widespread domesticated animal. In stories, you can find a horse who is none other than Major Tom, voiced by Lin Manuel Miranda. You can't escape him. You can find a pony in the Epson markets, Curry Quest, and past the parcel, specifically this one that was dyed to look like a unicorn. In the creek, you can find possibly the most confusing mammal in Blueie, and it's this unidentified macropod. The book about the episode refers to it as a polaroo. The lyrics to the Bluey song titled I Know A Place refers to it as a padmelon, and Joe Braum described it as a walabee. In my opinion, it looks the most like a padmelon, but nevertheless, it's unidentified and it's also pretty cute. In Explorers, you can find the eastern gay kangaroo, the second largest marsupial in Australia after the red kangaroo. Despite them being a famous Australian animal, this is the only time they're featured in the show. Of course, in the episode Whale Watching, you can find the humpback whale, which is the main topic of the documentary in the same episode. And finally, you can find the gay-headed flying fox, also known as a fruit bat, in the episode fruit bat.
And they of course feed off fruit and are the largest bat in Australia. Those are all the mammals in Bluey. Now let's move on to amphibians. And Bluey actually only has one amphibian. And it's these unidentified tadpoles in the eps of the creek who are feeding on Bluey's toes. They're frog tadpoles as frogs are the only amphibians in Australia. But all the tadpoles look very similar which makes it difficult to identify. And Queensland is home to 75% of Australia's frog species. There are reptiles and bluey too but only two. And those two are quite cool looking animals. The first of which is in the episode Copycat and it's the eastern blue tongue lizard who are found in northern and eastern Australia and of course they have blue tongues that they display when they feel threatened and funny enough are sometimes referred to as blueies by reptile enthusiasts. The other reptile and blueey is found in the depths of the creek and this is the eastern water dragon who are native to eastern Australia and are strong climbers and fast runners and can swim totally submerged. Those are all the reptiles and amphibians and blueey. And we're almost done, but there are a few animals in Bluey that fall outside of these categories. There's an octopus in the episode octopus called the coconut octopus who collect coconut halves as shells for themselves for shelter. In the episode of the beach, you can find a moon jelly which Bluey pokes with a stick and they feed off a plankton and has a pretty cool color in the show and are absolutely beautiful in real life pictures. You can also find a tiger cowie in that same episode which is a large sea snail that Bluey wants to show Chile in the episode and they eat coral and invertebrates and are quite common.
Also in the beach you can find a pippy a mollusk who expels water that it filters to eat and spends most of its time buried in the sand. In the creek you can find the Australian land leech, a blood sucking worm who is unique from other leeches as they have two jaws instead of three and don't live in water rather in wet forest. And finally, the last animal in Bluey is the earthworm, which you can see in the episode Curry Quest, while the magpie feeds it to its young. There are over 1,000 different species of earthworm in Australia, which is pretty cool in my opinion. And those are all the animals in Bluey.
Thanks for watching. Please like and subscribe, and I'll see you all later.
