[00:00:00]What about women and how Sephardic Judaism deals with the issues that are so volatile in the American Jewish community? What is the appropriate way for women to participate in synagogue life? So, it's interesting to note that the consensus among Sephardic women, those members of the congregation, is that they're not really [music] desirous to take part in such a way and services and prayers. They feel getting an aliyah or being chazzan would be [music] imitating the men. They believe that there is a certain way for women to worship God and to participate in [music] prayers that does not have to be by imitating men's role. They understand how they want to connect to to God. They themselves [music] do not ask to participate. In fact, if you ask them to participate, they'll say, "No, I I have my way of >> [music] >> connecting with with God than having to be a chazzanit or having to be a ba'al [music] koreh or to read the Torah or to lead the services." So, the consensus among Sephardic women is that that's not our way of connecting God. We have our own way. We pray either from the [music] siddur or we have our own prayer. And so, we have not yet faced that challenge. Although we might be facing it in the near future, in which we probably our sages will have to address it.
