[00:00:02]>> Thanks, Charlie. I'm just going to drop the kit bag in my bedroom. Desperate for a toilet. Of course. Go ahead. Where is my bedroom? Well, you're in it. You what? Only the officers get a separate dugout. The rest of us sleep on the floor, in the mud. Disgusting. Where are the toilets? Uh it's over there, behind the trenches. No, rule one, NEVER EVER >> [cough] >> AS I WAS SAYING, NEVER USE THE TOILETS first thing in the morning. The Germans know that we tend to go then, so they always fire a few shells at the toilet sheds to try and catch us with our trousers down. Right, so So, we tend to use the bucket. Yeah, I think I'll just hold it in.

[00:00:34]So, then, rule two, never poke your head up above the trench. It gives us a sip of that brew, calming nerves. Rule three, watch out for the water.

[00:00:42]Yeah, we put chloride of lime in it to kill the germs. Good. Yeah, not if you're not used to it, though. Tends to give you very BAD DIARRHEA.
