Stars emit a broad spectrum of light across all colors, but our eyes perceive them as blue, red, yellow, or white because the human visual system combines all wavelengths simultaneously; at moderate temperatures where green light is most intense, the balanced mix of all colors appears white to us, which is why our Sun, despite peaking in green light, looks white rather than green.

Stars Can Be Blue, Red, or Yellow... But NEVER Green #space #astronomy #science #physics #spacefactsAdded:
Why are there no green stars? [music] Stars shine because they're hot, and their color is a direct read-out of their [music] temperature.
The hottest stars blaze blue.
Cooler ones glow red.
In between, you get white and yellow.
But green?
Nowhere to be found.
>> [music] >> Here's the trick.
Stars don't emit a single color.
They radiate [music] a broad rainbow of light.
Our eyes add up all those colors at once.
Imagine a seesaw with blue on one end and red on the other.
As a star heats up, the seesaw [music] tilts.
When the blue end is way up, we see blue.
When the red end is up, [music] we see red.
But at moderate temperatures, right in the middle, the seesaw stays level.
Every color is balanced, and our eyes perceive the mix as white.
[music] Our own sun actually peaks in green light, yet [music] it looks white to us.
The universe doesn't skip green on purpose.
Our eyes just can't see a star that way.
The cosmos is full of green light.
>> [music] >> We just never get to enjoy a green star.
