How to FIX a Slipped Crank Gear on the 6.7 Ford Power Stroke

The 6.7 Ford Power Stroke engine uses an interference fit crank gear that can slip under increased power or towing loads, causing the P0016 code due to misalignment between camshaft and crankshaft sensors; this can be repaired by either removing the gear with hydraulic pullers and re-timing it, or by using a precision timing pointer tool to re-time the camshaft to the correct tooth position on the crank gear without removing it, though the latter method may not work if the gear slipped more than half a tooth.
