Albino blue tegus are on the way!本站添加:
Welcome back to another Rose City Reptiles video. I'm Joey. This is Rose City Reptiles and today's video I'm going to give you guys a huge update >> [music] >> on a group of tegus that we have breeding this year and it's time to do some separating. [music] So, this is Azurite, Triana and Shakira.
And Shakira is looking huge and [music] I'm going to be separating this whole group out.
Check out these Black-Eyed Susans popping up everywhere.
So gorgeous, but I need to get a little bit of my supplies.
My tote >> [sighs] >> and possibly the grabbers. Probably won't [music] need it with this group, but yeah, we are going to be getting [music] them separated. I got some enclosures picked out for Azurite and Triana cuz I'm actually going to be leaving Shakira in the enclosure. [music] Whoever starts nesting first, that is who gets to stay [music] in the enclosure.
You know, that just makes sense. So, and I've been seeing Shakira pushing some pushing some straw >> [music] >> and so we are going to just move the other two out.
Give everyone their own space. I think that means Azurite is done breeding for the season.
I don't believe I have anything else for him, so but all right, let's get over there. I'm thinking these [music] two enclosures here. Okay.
We need a lot of material.
All right, we need some material in there. We have a lot of material on the ground in here for nesting. [music] I need to add some inside the hide just right now.
All right, got some leaves and pine needles.
You want that hide be full of material. You want it to be when they get in there, their whole body is being touched and completely covered. That's how they feel really secure. This enclosure is ready. It's that easy. All right.
Let's go ahead and get one more ready.
All right, we got Azurite's enclosure all done.
And Triana's, let me get her door back in.
Get her tub. We may need it, [music] we may not. These tegus are usually very easy to handle.
I can just pick them up and walk over here, but sometimes tegus freak out a little bit for unknown reasons.
Triana and Shakira are out.
Shakira is the albino, Triana is the blue right next to her. They're both blue tegus.
Shakira is obviously she's a visual albino, and Triana is het for albino.
That means she carries the gene and as well as Azurite, he's also het for albino. So, when I breed Azurite with Triana, one in four babies will be a visual albino. When I breed Azurite [music] to Shakira, half the babies will be a visual albino.
So, hoping for some good clutches from [music] these girls.
Like I said, she's very tame.
Super easy to handle, typically.
All right.
I'm just going to walk with her.
And I'm excited to put her in here.
She's in the beautyberry enclosure.
So, we've got this right here.
She's a little plump. She's not gigantic, but I do believe you know, I could put him in here with [music] her just to make sure they get it done.
I may do that cuz she's not that big.
>> [music] >> It's an option.
I'm thinking about it. I'm not sure.
I'm not sure. Like I said, the main one I'm wanting to separate is Shakira, which I could just pull her out and leave these two in there.
But, when I see a female start nesting it doesn't mean I have to keep them in there, but I prefer to.
You know, because they started working on it. Look at her.
So, no dimpling. So, I can't say like that I'm confident or anything.
But, she is big and I did put food in here and that's all eaten yesterday, but I didn't see her eat it. So, that's another reason why you want to get them separated is so you can better monitor your females.
Because, like I said, I don't know who ate the food.
There's a good chance she ate some, but who knows. Okay, so now getting Azurite, you guys can see I have mulch all on top of the lid here. Let's go see how heavy that door is.
Not too heavy.
But, he's also not in sight, so I'm going to have to get something to hold that open.
Okay.
Okay.
We've got Azurite here.
So, beautiful, classic blue male. He's He's just stunning.
In every way possible. [music] He's awesome. He's also het for albino, like I've said. So, that makes him a really special part of our breeding program.
Having those het albino males that are good breeders, >> [music] >> good temperaments, it's just really important to have. So, let's give Shakira some space.
All right, we're just going to do the same thing with him.
Walk him over here.
Do I want to put him in with Triana?
I think I think I am going to put him in here with Triana just for maybe a few more days.
You know, maybe I'll see a lock. Maybe If I don't see any breeding, then that tells me that he's done. Otherwise, he would be breeding. Males like this, he uh he'll stop. He doesn't over breed them, which I really appreciate that.
Make sure I get some cool footage of him. He's just beautiful boy.
We'll get him in here.
There should be no problems introducing [music] them cuz they've been together.
I'm going to go ahead and just keep this one empty. This will be perfect [music] for moving Azurite just over once that time comes.
All right, didn't disturb the nest too much.
That actually was not too heavy. That mulch is completely dried out.
Let's see if I can pick [music] Shakira up.
Show her to y'all.
I love albinos.
They're just gorgeous.
Typically have really nice demeanors.
A really nice demeanor about them.
And I love her little freckles she gets all over her back.
It's cool freckles.
So, yeah. That's Shakira.
She's super chill. We're going to leave her be.
Put a pile of straw right here and you know, you see it trailing off into the hide.
That's Shakira's work right next to the tegus as you guys have been hearing all video.
We've got our chickens.
I'm going to come over here and just snatch a few of these.
This time of year having the chickens works out so good cuz any of the stuff I feed the tegus that they don't eat the next day I come out and I just throw it to the chickens.
And then I go over there, I grab some eggs, and I throw them to the tegus.
But, I'm going to take these three eggs.
We're going to give these to Shakira.
That way, I'll come back later and see if she got those if she ate those or not. So, that'll kind of give me an idea of how close are we looking to her laying those eggs.
Speaking of chickens, I just had some chicks inside of this peach tree.
Look at this mama.
>> [sighs] >> Look at that. She's actually raised them up.
We started with eight and now there's five, but these five are pretty big.
I see them going all the way. The orchard and native plant garden is actually doing incredible right now. I need to do an update on this and show everything that we have growing here.
Look at these blanket flowers.
Beautiful. If you guys want to see an update, maybe even a full tour of the garden now that I've got everything planted, let me know down in the comments. Native garden and fruit trees, fruit shrubs, all types of edible plants.
East Texas, zone 8B. Yeah, let me know if you guys want to see this. Look at this. This is six plants that I planted last year.
And this year I planted about 30 more.
So, this is six and I've planted 30 more this year. So, >> [laughter] >> it's it's going to be insane. I can't wait to come out here and just pick buckets of berries, feed them to the animals, eat them myself, make pies.
It's going to be awesome. Look at all these.
And then underneath the blackberries are strawberries.
Kind of as like a living mulch.
Working so well together. Thank [music] you guys so much for watching another Rusty Reptiles video, an update on Azariah, Triana, and Shakira, our het albino and visual albino breeding group.
So, I'm hoping for some good eggs soon.
We'll know here in the next couple weeks. I will definitely keep you guys updated and keep >> [music] >> more updates of all of our breeding groups coming to YouTube very soon. So, subscribe to the channel, like the video, leave a comment on any questions or things that you'd like to see. I'll see you guys in the next one. Peace out.
