An angle is formed when two rays (lines) are joined at a common point called the vertex, with the rays extending from this point being called the arms of the angle. The size of an angle depends on how much it opens, not on the length of its arms. Angles can be compared by superimposition (placing one angle on top of another) or by using transparent paper to mark and compare the angles. The vertex must always be written in the middle when naming an angle (e.g., ∠ABC where B is the vertex).
