The video captures the rare harmony between Niemeyer’s bold concrete and the softness of the tropical landscape. It is a sophisticated reminder that great architecture is not just about building, but about creating a dialogue with art and nature.

FIQUEI HOSPEDADA NO CONCRETO TROPICAL: O hotel mais icônico de NiemeyerAdded:
Have you ever wondered if concrete could [music] actually feel peaceful? This is the Brasilia Palace Hotel where Oscar Niemeyer turned heavy materials into [music] something that feels like it's floating. I've been living in Brazil for a few months now, >> [music] >> but I've never seen anything quite like this.
Hi guys, I'm Julia. After living in Germany for 3 years, [music] I moved to Brazil and today my Brazilian husband Filipe and I will share with you what it's like [music] to stay inside this architectural dream.
The hotel [music] was built in 1958, a modernist miracle in the middle of the vast empty landscape.
It's made of the raw [music] concrete, but there is a softness to it.
Niemeyer wanted it to [music] feel like it was hugging the earth, not conquering it.
He wanted to make sure the view of the lake and the sky was never interrupted.
Imagine [music] this hotel was actually one of the very first major permanent buildings >> [music] >> finished in the entire city.
It's amazing to think that before the whole capital fully existed, [music] people were staying right here dreaming of the future.
Since moving to Brazil, I've started to notice [music] that brutalist architecture, which I was not a big fan of before, actually looks beautiful when it is surrounded by tropical nature. And Brasilia is full of these concrete structures.
Guys, and now [music] it's finally time to see how the hotel looks inside.
I felt very curious [music] and excited.
Let's check it together.
The reception area felt like stepping onto a spaceship, [music] so unique and futuristic. I really loved how open and airy it felt. The perfect mix [music] of spaciousness and minimalism.
Guys, it was so [music] peaceful at the reception that we even asked how many guests were staying.
And to our surprise, [music] the hotel was actually full.
You'd never guess by looking at this quiet lobby.
Guys, now I can't wait to see how the room will look like. Do you think it will be [music] similar to the unique style of the reception or more classic?
Let's find out together. [music] At first glance, [music] the room looked quite classic and simple.
But I believed that there was a reason for that.
By keeping the design minimal, there was [music] nothing to distract from the main event, the view.
I felt [music] like the room had been built specifically to frame the nature outside.
Just look at this.
The next day, we were ready to explore the riverside >> [music] >> and the weather was much sunnier than yesterday.
The blue skies gave the hotel and the nature around it a completely [music] different look.
The sky here is so vast. It really made the architecture stand [music] out against the green.
Guys, we walked on this grass >> [music] >> and it felt really nice. It helped to release the stress a bit because moving to a new country was never easy.
Staying close [music] to nature like this really helped.
It was exactly what I needed >> [music] >> to feel a bit more grounded.
Guys, but peaceful walk took a very unexpected turn. [music] I looked over towards the water and I saw something I definitely didn't expect to see in the middle of the city.
>> [music] >> Just look who's here, capybaras.
I honestly couldn't believe it. I had only ever seen those little creatures on TikTok before and now here they were, right in front of me. Guys, it felt so surreal to finally see them in real life and look how chill they are.
>> [music] >> Just hanging out by the water, completely unbothered by us.
It's so crazy for me how the city and nature [music] are so close to each other.
I'm really happy that I moved to Brazil.
And it's [music] still very difficult for me to realize that this is my home now.
Inspired by the [music] capybaras and the very beautiful sunny weather outside, we decided it was time for us to [music] swim as well.
We headed out to the pool right next to the hotel, which was also completely surrounded by nature.
Guys, it was still hard to imagine that I could just go [music] for a swim. At the same moment, it was the middle of winter in Germany, but here [music] I was in the sun.
It felt so good to know I didn't have to be bothered [music] by the cold anymore.
I mean, by the European cold. And this definitely [music] makes me happier.
And now tell me guys, who do you think looks chiller [music] now? Me by the pool or the capybaras by the lake?
Please let me know in the comments.
>> [music] >> And if you're enjoying following my new life here in Brazil, I'd love for you to subscribe [music] and give this video a thumbs up.
I, of course, got burned, guys, but it's okay. I [music] survived.
Besides the nice swimming pool and the nature, the hotel still had something magical to show. Yes, you heard right.
It made my stay even more interesting and exciting [music] because it gave me even more knowledge about Brazilian art and artists. [music] And you can find this magic spread around the whole hotel in and out. And I'm talking about the blue tile panels [music] created by the Brazilian painter and sculptor Athos Bulcão. It was created [music] specifically for the hotel as part of its original design.
Oscar Niemeyer invited [music] Bulcão to collaborate to many Brasilia buildings integrating art directly into the architecture [music] instead of adding it later as decoration. And I think it looks really beautiful.
>> [music] >> Just look at it.
The mosaic [music] wall continues from the outside of the hotel into the interior spaces making the artwork feel like a natural part of the [music] building.
Guys, [music] the hotel actually gave me the feeling that I stayed in the art gallery. Every time I [music] turn a corner, there was a new pattern to discover. It really changes the energy of a [music] place when art is a part of the architecture like this.
The peacocks were also a very nice addition. Just look at them. [music] So pretty.
>> I was also [music] very amazed by the avocado tree growing right next to the hotel. I've never seen how avocado grows in its natural [music] environment. It looked very exotic for me, guys. The experience [music] was 10 out of 10.
By the end of my video, I would really like [music] to say again how happy I am to be here in Brazil. Frankly speaking, it was not even a day when I was missing Germany. I definitely feel more at home here, and that was [music] the main reason why I moved.
Guys, I decided to record [music] this video in English to see your opinion.
Please let me know what you think.
[music] Shall I speak Portuguese or English? Or should I mix both of them in my videos?
And now, let's get back to the hotel.
I have to say I was truly amazed by [music] the beauty of this place. It's definitely one of those places that stays [music] with you long after you leave.
I came here looking for a weekend of [music] rest, but I'm leaving with so much more knowledge and a deeper appreciation for the artists who shaped the city.
If you guys know another hidden [music] gem or place with this kind of magic here in Brazil, please let me know in the comments.
And now, I'm going to leave this place [music] with a sense of peace and a deeper love for my new home. I hope [music] that this video reminded you to look for the magic in your own city because beauty really is everywhere if we just take [music] a moment to look for it.
Guys, thank you so much for being of my story today. I'll see you in my next adventure. Ciao, ciao.
