Thomas Tuchel's England World Cup squad selection has sparked controversy due to notable exclusions including Cole Palmer, Phil Foden, and Harry Maguire, with critics questioning the balance between experience and potential in the selection process. The squad features a mix of established players like Declan Rice and Jordan Henderson alongside emerging talents like Jude Bellingham and Evan Ferguson, while tactical flexibility is emphasized through the inclusion of versatile defenders who could potentially form a back three formation. The selection prioritizes players who can contribute to different tactical strategies throughout the tournament, with the goal of providing variance and depth for England's campaign in the United States.

ENGLAND SQUAD REVEALED π± IS THE OUTRAGE JUSTIFIED?Added:
Yes, guys. Thomas Tukul has selected his England squad. We know the 26 men who will be flying to the US for this summer's World Cup. And there's been outrage. There's been uproar about this one. And throughout the course of this video, we're going to go through the main exclusions that didn't make Tul's team and of course react to what we actually have because it's all well and good saying, "Ah, I give up now. England ain't going to win the World Cup because my favorite player is not going." If you love Cole Palmer, you might hate this football squad. If you love Phil Foden, you might hate this squad. If you think Morgan Gibbs White has been the best goalcoring midfielder, I think he has.
He definitely has. And he ain't going.
Make it make sense. There are a few things to dissect here. And there are some massive massive exclusions and in classic England fashion, before a ball is even kicked, we're already tearing each other's hair out. It's It's just what we do. It's what English people do.
And we're going to go through now some of the main exclusions. I will put the actual list up here for those of you that are watching this video and haven't checked the news today about who's made it and who hasn't. I want to start with the Chelsea boys. Obviously, I've kept these scarves up behind me. I don't have anything else decorative. And people have said that this room looks a bit like a toilet. It's um it's soundproof foam, but I wanted to just keep this up so that there's something behind me.
Okay. So, Levi Cowwell and Cole Palmer didn't make the squad. Neither did Trevor Chaliba. and Rhys James did make the squad. Cole Palmer in particular, I want to bracket him a little bit here with Phil Fodden because what I say about Cole Palmer rings true for my thoughts on Phil Fodden. England at times over the past recent tournaments, we have lacked someone with a cutting edge. We have lacked someone with a little bit of raw ability to create a moment. Now, the last big England moment was Cole Palmer with his equalizer against Spain in the Euros final. It was a fantastic goal, a big moment, and again, England failed to capitalize on momentum. One of my big problems when I look at this squad isn't that we don't have players that can provide big moments. And I I've seen a lot of people saying that that is lacking within this squad. And I don't agree, but we'll go through that a little bit more when I actually break down what this squad is, who's in, and who I think the winners truly are. But Cole Palmer and Phil Fodden to not take either of them is a big gamble for Thomas Tukul. And if look, we get the second star above the badge. No one's going to care apart from Phil Foden and Cole Palmer who won't get a medal for it. But I do think the fact he's not taken either is a little bit suspect. Levi Cole will as well, he's played two games all season. Why would he go? To be quite honest, you can argue Jon Stones. He's played one game, but Jon Stones has probably been England's most consistent center back for a very long time. Harry Maguire is another one who I would have taken. I think when I look at the defense here for England, there is a lot of inexperience in there.
And I don't think the experience that we have should have been preferential over someone like Harry Maguire. For example, Dan Burn. Dan Burns certainly is being bought in to be bought off the bench at some point. If England are playing for some set pieces and we're struggling to create anything, which would be very England, wouldn't it, in a major tournament, bring on big Dan Burn and stick a corner on his head. Decent.
Cheers, Tommy T. But I do think Harry Maguire should feel very agrieved for this. He's had a good season for Manchester United and I'm very surprised that he's not been included in this squad. The other one is Lewis Hall. And first of all, I think it puts a lot of onus on the fact that Nikico O'Reilly has had an incredible season. I think both of these things can coexist, right?
Lewis Hall has been good for Newcastle this season, but I can't help but stress that I think the poor season that Newcastle have had and how Eddie House just suffocated a lot of the players within that squad's abilities this season by being way too cautious. Lewis Hall should be on the plane. A lot of these guys, in my opinion, on the list of exclusions, I think they should be on the plane. And I'm not saying that I think this is the best squad. I certainly think that a lot of players maybe should be different. Gibbs White, how can he be the the top scoring midfielder coming out of this country this season? He's had a brilliant season. He's been in fabulous form for at least the last six months or so, and he doesn't make the squad. Adam Warton.
Some people were saying that Adam Wharton is England's answer to Sergio Busett and he doesn't make the squad, but again, Kobe Minu has been on the rise. Elliot Anderson was always going to make it. Bellingham was going to make it. I'm just very surprised by this.
Trent Alexander Arnold too. Tino Livermento and Reese James as right back options, but both of them have got an injury just uh you could get injured in training if your name's Tino Livermen or Ree James. Brilliant footballers.
absolutely brilliant. But again, a fitness gamble for Tukul and of course as a result for England. So those are the ones that missed out and I think it's important we move straight into the ones that got picked because I don't know about you but now the squad has been announced whether you love it or you hate it. I've got the World Cup fever now. I'm going to be flying to America in the first 10 days of June.
We're going to be there for the entire tournament. And I've pitched myself up on the East Coast because as I'm making videos and everything, I wanted the latest kickoff to be 9:00 PM so that I'm not up all night, which I think is a smart move for all of you lot because it means content, content, content. I'm going to be camped up in front of this camera. The goalkeepers I think were self-explanatory. We got all of those right in the prediction video.
Henderson, Pikford, and James Trafford.
Defenders Dan Burn, Mark Gury, Reese James, Coner, Livermento, Niko O'Reilly, Gerald Quanser, Jed Spence, and John Stones. Nikico O'Reilly will be the starting left back. Jed Spence will probably be the backup. Reese James I think will be starting right back with Tino Livermento as a backup and Mark Gury, John Stones, Quansa, Konza, and Dan Burn. That's Kansa Konza. That's a that's a mouthful. That is I think Thomas Duke's gambling on Jon Stones being fit here. And if that's the case, I've got nothing against that starting back four if that's what Tulle is going to go for. Knowing Thomas Tukul the way that we do, the way that I do, I can also see here the selections have probably also been with the idea and notion in mind that we could see a back three for England at some point during this tournament. And I think the likes of Dan Burn make that very possible. Uh it means that Reese James could also be a right center back with Livermento bombing forward if he can stay fit again. This could work. Let's move into the midfielders. Elliot Anderson, Bellingham, Ez Henderson, Kobe Muer, Declan Rice, Morgan Rogers. The two obvious ones for me for starters were Declan Rice and Elliot Anderson.
Bellingham was always going to go and just off the back of winning the Premier League, he's a player who I think could be a match winner for England. I think he's got that ability in him. He can shoot from anywhere and he's playing with confidence even if he's not had the best season. Jordan Henderson is the anchor of this midfield. People can complain that he's gone to the World Cup and Cole Palmer hasn't gone to the World Cup. But now that Henderson is there, there's no point looking back on, oh, what could have been. Jordan Henderson is the most experienced outfield England player in this squad for his country and he's still a fantastic footballer. We've seen it this season for Brenford at times too. He's been absolutely magnificent. And to be honest, the Jordan Henderson thing, I think it's more about as a result of him being there, someone who misses out. So, I'm not fully against it. I think he's gone for a balance here between players that can and will play in the number 10. And as a result of that, you've got EZ, Bellingham, and Rogers that very much could do that role. Bellingham I've always thought for England could do very well a bit deeper but I think this is still not a bad midfield but once again Morgan Rogers you guys know I love him I absolutely love him and he scored in that final I don't know how close it was between a Rogers and a Gibbs white but I'd have definitely bracketed the Morgans together as for the forwards Anthony Gordon Harry Kane Madke Rashford Sacka Tony Ollie Watkins I do find it crazy that Noni Madweeke Okay, who scored two Premier League goals this season has gone over Cole Palmer. But again, I'm not here to in this video. I'm here to be excited.
I'm here to get excited as an England fan and think, how do we bloody win this tournament? Noni Madke is very direct and I think that's why Thomas Tuc's gone for him. I think we do have creative players in that 10, the likes of EZ, the likes of Rogers who Tukul can lean upon.
And I think he's gone with this sort of Arsenal link in the front line. I think Rice will play. I think we will see Ez get a lot of minutes and Saka will obviously be the starting right winger.
I think that was always going to be the case. I could have argued other players in the past, but Saka now very much will be that guy. Ivan Tony is another name here that surprised a lot of people. How much of Ivan Tony has Thomas Tukall looked at? But you've always got the idea of an England penalty shootout in the back of your mind, haven't you? And we saw it last against Colombia, was it?
and Ivan Tony good penalty taker. He's also a bit of a bully and I think it gives England something else. Harry Kane is obviously leagues and levels above everybody. Ollie Watkins has been a great England servant off the bench as a substitute for Harry Kane in the past.
Scored big goals for England and I think that experience gets him there and he's had a good end to the season. Rashford I think has been good. Gordon, I actually think on the whole this is quite a balanced squad from Tukul and I think a lot of people maybe are looking at the players who missed out without looking too much at who he's taken as a massive love. I love Thomas Tukul. He's one of my favorite people who's ever existed.
Never met the bloke. Would love to shake his hand one day and thank him. But I don't think this is as bad as a lot of people have made it out to be. Keepers were very easy. the defense. There's questionable ones, but if this comes off, it will make a lot of sense to a lot of people. But again, when it comes to England, I've got to stress this.
We'll do more videos leading up to the World Cup. Obviously, I'm English. This will be an England predominant channel when it comes to content, but I'm going to do reviews for loads of games. I'm going to try to go to games vlogs.
There's going to be loads of stuff here on more GBFC. We're about to hit 10K, so please do subscribe. But I do think there's a lot of balance in this team. I think he's gone with something which enables us maybe for the first time in a long time to have variance to tactically be able to implement different players into different strategies at different times. It's difficult on the international stage. Quite often countries will go in with a game plan with the best 11 and then the squad players will be helpful, useful, particularly the likes of Spain, they've got so many technical players they can bring on. France, they've just, you know, they could have three squads and probably make three semi-final places up. They're that good. But I don't think it's all that bad. And I'm I'm actually just so excited now for things to get cracking. And like I said at the start, in classic English fashion, we've we're very tribal. We've all got our clubs.
But for now, even the noni Madues are getting my support. Even the sackers, everybody. There isn't a single man on here that I don't think is a bad footballer. People say Quanson how the bloody hell he got in there. Ain't a bad footballer though, is he? Let's be honest. Definitely think it should have been Maguire instead of him. But who am I to say? Anyway, let me know your thoughts in the comments down below. And I guess one of the next videos we can make here on more GBFC is what is the two kill 11? What are the variations? If I've sat here and I said I can see back three potential in this. Don't think it will be a back three, but it could be.
Very much could be at times. We'll go through those. Make sure you're subscribed. Hit the like video. Hit the like button if you enjoyed the video. I will see you very
