Large-scale political projects often involve significant budget overruns and scope changes, as demonstrated by Donald Trump's White House ballroom plan, which was scaled down in size but remained at $400 million, with projections suggesting costs could reach $800-900 million, illustrating how political projects frequently exceed initial estimates and require ongoing budget re-evaluation.

Trump's Ballroom Scheme UNRAVELS As Final Plans UnveiledAjouté :
We have drone proof ceilings.
>> What does that mean? What does What does That means if a drone hits the ceiling, it bounces off. It doesn't blow up a building.
>> fortress, it's >> It's protection. It's going to be a fortress.
>> Well, So, Donald Trump clearly doesn't know what he's talking about. He saw on a PowerPoint presentation drone proof building and he's like, "Yeah, it just it bounces [clears throat] off." And then it's just like looking at the building like, "Mhm, I wish I could get in there." Um so, he doesn't need to know anything about it to know that he wants it and that he wants it to be as big and as expensive as possible. But, it turns out that it is not quite as possible to be as big as he wanted. So, he has filed the final plans or whatever of this thing and it isn't going to be quite as gargantuan as he had previously planned. It's going to be a little bit smaller. So, you can see in this photo, the previous plan had this uh the pediment above the portico. We all know these archaeological terms. I don't need to define them for you. Uh but, they're not going to have that. So, it's going to be a little bit lower to the ground than previously thought so that it won't be uh as big or uh taller than the White House. I don't know if that lowers its resistance to drones or whatever. And what's interesting is that despite it being slightly smaller, it is still going to cost the $400 as of right now that they say it's going to cost. Obviously, I believe that's going to get up to 800, 900 million.
We'll see and it will still be 90,000 square feet for this big stupid ballroom. Donald Trump shared uh this little update of two views of it being built. Again, it's just like I don't know what these I said the Are these AI images? There's no ballroom as of this point. What's interesting though is he says it's on budget and ahead of schedule.
What do either of those statements mean?
Every time you talk about it, you say it's more expensive than it was the last time. What's the budget? AND WHAT DO YOU MEAN IT'S on schedule? It's just a big hole in the ground as of right now. Why are you bragging about something that literally doesn't exist? And just when he makes these statements, I'm not going to fact-check all the stuff about the cost of it. I'll do that again the next time we talk about this. But I just want to remind everyone that you cannot trust a goddamn thing that he says about this big stupid ballroom because he at one point said it wouldn't interfere with the current building, which is now a smoking gaping ruin. Jez, what do you think?
I mean, how often is the White House attacked by drones? You know, are we anticipating more direct attacks to our White House? And also like it's so funny. He's like it's on budget and on schedule. First of all, let's be real.
No designer architectural project is ever on budget or on schedule. You just keep re-evaluating the budget and the schedule, which is exactly what he has been doing, right? The budget keeps ballooning and he keeps saying, you know, the American people aren't paying for it. So who is paying for it? All of his weird tech donors who have a stake in this thing if for whatever reason, we can just speculate.
But you know, the whole thing is unnecessary, right?
Nobody asked for this. Trump obviously has plans for for this building project.
He loves to build things, you know, that's what he says. He loves to build things. He also apparently loves to demolish historical buildings or reface historical buildings in his likeness, which is disgusting because we've all seen what he did to the White House and it is uh I would have done it differently is what I'll say about that, John.
>> [laughter] >> I think you probably would have been done a beautiful uh job. I think that if they could a ballroom some texture, some patterns, I think that it would look great. But um unfortunately, he's making the choices.
So literally everything will be made of marble.
