Because the deeper you go, the more extreme the pressure becomes. At the deepest point, the pressure is over 1,000 times stronger than at sea level. There's also no sunlight down there, and sending missions to the deep ocean is incredibly expensive. Yet, every expedition discovers strange new creatures and hidden landscapes. In fact, there could still be thousands of species we've never seen before.
