Showers and storms to start the week, with heavy downpours at times
Added:forecast is potentially what's causing some of those power outages, right, Stephen?
>> Ooh, absolutely. Good morning, Michelle.
You know, we're seeing those storms already starting to roll through the area, potentially responsible for knocking out some of those power outages, and going through the rest of the day with more heavy downpours expected, more thunderstorms expected.
Wouldn't be surprised to see those numbers increase at some points today.
So, hopefully we're all just staying safe as we're heading out there. We already received some of that rain over the weekend. Looking at our almanac data from yesterday, picked up about 43 hundredths of an inch over at the international airport. That brought back our rainfall surplus closer to 2 in, but not quite there. We'll likely see it surpass that after we go through today and into tomorrow for the next couple of days. Daytime high yesterday, 89 compared to our average of 92 and well shy of the record 106° we set back there in 1998. Don't think there was any complaints on that front, but hopefully we start to see more of that rain heading through the next couple of days, which we're expecting. Looking at some of those rainfall totals with our Chris 6 Neighborhood Weather Network on the south side, not too bad. Almost an inch coming down there on Bent Trail Drive.
Windmill Drive closer to 67 hundredths of an inch and just about a half an inch down there on Garden Court. A little bit less into Flower Bluff, about a tenth of an inch over at the Shell Weather Station, two tenths of an inch closer to Laguna Shores Road. As we work our way in then closer to Lake Corpus Christi, also a little bit less, but still picking up some rain, a tenth of an inch there on County Road 370. County Road 803 picking up 42 hundredths of an inch so far from yesterday, at least. Going into today, we're expecting more of those rainfall totals. Already saw one of those small storms working through Nueces County and Corpus Christi. Now, it's pushing up towards San Patricio County and into Aransas County. Looks like it's knocking on Rockport's doorstep. Sinton starting to get in on some of the heavier downpours. Portland finding itself just in a little bit of a break there in the storm, but might still get a little bit more of that heavy rain that's working across the bay right now. All throughout San Patricio County, really, where we're seeing the most active storm right now across the coastal bend. But, viewing from our studio sky cam, here's a look from Corpus Christi. 78° here in town. Winds out of the south at 9 mph. And so far, we've picked up about 700th of an inch at the International Airport. Likely to receive that rise also as we go through our Monday. Temperature-wise out there into the 70s and 80s. San Diego 78° and that's the same for Mathis and Robstown.
83 out there in Port Aransas with 82 for Rockport and Ingleside so far this morning.
Looking at our line of Yuda Animal Services dog walking forecast. Today we've got Bailey Duncan on the board there for Aransas County and likely hearing some of that heavier rain now as we're heading out there. Just keep in mind you're going to see some more of these scattered showers to numerous showers and storms as we start to head into the afternoon. Temperatures in the 80s for that walk this morning and winds out of the south about 5 to 10 miles an hour, but if you find yourself next to one of those storms likely to see some gusts higher than that. On the future tracker expecting more of this development as we head through the morning commute hours out there. Not going to be all of us at all times, but very likely you could find yourself quickly in a heavy downpour out there.
Want to be mindful of that. Heading into the afternoon still more of the same with the scattered activity, but at times going to get a little bit more widespread. We get a little bit of a break this model wants to call for as we head into the evening, but either way we're going to see some quick redevelopment as we head into tonight with more of those heavy storms at times and this pushes through our Tuesday, which is why we have that flood watch in effect now through tomorrow evening.
Finally after we head into Wednesday, we're still seeing a little bit of activity in the morning. It looks like by Wednesday morning, but that's where the rain chances start to dry up. Back to 90° into the afternoon holding on to plenty of that heat. 92 by Saturday
