When a drawing inside a sealed plastic bag is submerged in water, the image appears to disappear due to total internal reflection, where light cannot pass through the air-water interface and is instead reflected back, preventing the image from reaching our eyes; however, drawings drawn directly on the outside of the bag remain visible because light can travel directly from the surface to our eyes.
