Natural Law ethics differs fundamentally from consequentialism by focusing on preserving the inherent ends and purposes of human nature, rather than merely calculating outcomes; for example, avoiding actions that undermine biological functions like eating food engineered to bypass nutritional value, which separates the pleasure of eating from its primary purpose of nutrition.

Natural Law Ethics vs. ConsequentialismAdded:
Natural ethics sometimes is treated like it's consequentialism, like don't have sex, kids, cuz you can get STDs. Like, that is not natural law ethics at all, actually. Um >> [laughter] >> natural law ethics have to do with things like don't scrape your eyeballs, kids, cuz that'll hinder their ability to see. Uh that [laughter] would be natural law ethics. Or even interesting things like don't eat that weird um food that has been engineered in such a way that it has no caloric impact because essentially what you're doing is you're trying to harness the pleasure of eating, which is a byproduct, while undercutting nutrition, right, which is the primary end for which you have a digestive system.
