Teva Blocked Generic Inhalers for 10 Years — Now They Owe You $35M

[00:00:00]Teva Pharmaceuticals just agreed to pay $35 million to settle an antitrust lawsuit over Qvar inhalers, a branded asthma medication that has had no generic alternative for over a decade.

[00:00:14]The lawsuit alleged that Teva listed patents in the FDA's Orange Book that did not qualify for listing and discontinued older inhaler versions so newer ones kept patent protection.

[00:00:31]The result, generic competitors were blocked from the market for years and patients paid more than they needed to.

[00:00:39]If you purchased a Qvar or Qvar Redihaler inhaler between January 2015 and July 2025 in one of 42 covered states or DC, you can file a claim. The settlement website is qvarantitrustsettlement.com.

[00:01:01]As part of the settlement, Teva also agreed to delist six patents from the Orange Book, which removes one of the barriers that kept generic competitors out.
