[00:00:00]France dragged us into this. France owned Vietnam. It was a colony. Japan took it when they got a little wild. The United States liberated it. That was the thing, Ho Chi Minh, the guy who ended up being the leader of the Viet Cong, was like, "I love America." He was writing letters to Truman. They were like, "Americans are the only free people on Earth. You guys are incredible people."

[00:00:18]Half of them Truman never got because Secret Service was like, "He doesn't need to see these." This is the craziest part. So, France goes back in after the war and is like, "We're taking it back."

[00:00:27]And America was like, "Hey, don't do that. We were kind of siding with Ho Chi Minh and and the Vietnamese." And then France was like, "This is the beginning of the Cold War." So, France is like, "Hey, if you guys don't support [music] us, maybe we'll start listening to Russia." And then America was like, "All right, we'll help you out."
