Mattress performance depends on the interaction between foam layers, with zoned support systems providing targeted pressure relief for different body positions, while edge support relies on base foam density and temperature control is influenced by foam density and airflow technology.

The Casper Mattress Review (Canada): Is It Worth It?Added:
If you know anything about the bed in a box industry, you know the name Casper.
They were the pioneers that turned the mattress world upside down over a decade ago. But if you're a shopper in Canada, the Casper uses today is a little different than the one from 5 years ago.
The lineup has been streamlined and in many cases redesigned specifically for the Canadian market. Today we are reviewing the heart of their lineup, the Casper. It is their flagship three layer all foam mattress designed to be the Goldilocks bed. Not too soft, not too firm. But how does it hold up against the increasingly competitive Canadian market? We've pulled up the official construction specs and our test results to find out if this classic still holds the crown. Let's get into it.
Construction. The Casper is a 10in all foam mattress made in Canada. It uses a three layer foam construction designed to balance pressure relief and support.
It starts with Casper's eco knit cover made with recycled fibers. It's soft, breathable, and stretchy to allow the foam layers to contour properly.
However, the cover is not removable or machine washable, so using a mattress protector is recommended. Layer one, Casper signature foam with Airscape technology. The top layer is Casper's proprietary breathable foam. Thousands of perforations create airflow channels that help move heat away from your body.
Layer two, premium memory foam. The middle layer is a pressure- relieving memory foam designed to contour around shoulders and hips while maintaining spinal alignment. Layer three, pro support foam base. The bottom layer is a thick block of highdensity pro support foam. This foundation provides the mattress with structure, durability, and long-term stability. Performance scores.
We tested the Casper and here are the scores for the all foam model on our 10point scale. The Casper has a firmness rating of six out of 10, which places it in the true medium firm range. The Casper really stands out for pressure relief with strong performance in our testing. The zoned foam design allows side sleepers to get the shoulder dip they need while keeping the waist supported, helping maintain proper spinal alignment. For back sleepers, the firmer middle section prevents the hips from sinking too deeply, reducing lower back strain. Motion isolation, 7.9 out of 10. As an all foam mattress with a low bounce score, 2.5 out of 10, the Casper has a very low bounce. That's a compliment. Our testing showed that the 1 and 1/2 in memory foam layer does an excellent job of absorbing energy. While it didn't hit the perfect 10 of some of its competitors, it's more than sufficient for couples. If your partner gets up for a glass of water, you likely won't feel much more than a subtle vibration. Edge support 8.5 out of 10.
This was the biggest surprise. Most all foam mattresses fail the edge test, meaning they collapse when you sit on the side to put on your socks. However, the Casper scored an 8.5. This is due to the density of the Pro Support base foam. It feels stable all the way to the perimeter, making the mattress feel larger because you can actually sleep right up to the edge without feeling like you're gonna roll off. Temperature control, 2.8 out of 10. This is the area where Casper struggled the most in our research. Despite the Airscape perforations, we gave it a 2.8 for cooling features. While the foam is open cell, the sheer density of the memory foam and polyoam base tends to retain heat. So, if you're a hot sleeper who frequently wakes up sweaty, the all foam Casper might be a challenge. You may want to look at the Casper Snow or Wave Hybrid versions for more active cooling.
Who is the Casper for? Back and side sleepers. The 6.0 firmness and the zoned transition layer makes this a fantastic choice for those who flip between their back and side. It offers enough hug to be comfortable, but enough push back to be supportive. people who like an in the bed feel because of the low bounce in the memory foam layer. The Casper has a traditional foam feel. You sink in a little and the mattress contours to your shape. If you hate the springy feel of a traditional coil bed, this will be right up your alley. those who want an instore accessibility. Unlike many Canadian bed in a box brands that are online only, the Sleep Country partnership means you can actually go into a physical store and lie on a Casper before you buy it.
For many Canadians, that test drive is worth the price of admission.
Considerations: The price tag. At $1,499 Canadian for a queen, the Casper carries a brand premium. You're paying for the name and the retail availability.
Compared to Canadian-made competitors like the Douglas original, which offers similar specs for hundreds of dollars less, the value proposition is something to consider. Heavy sleepers for above 250 lbs. The 10-in all foam construction might not offer enough deep core support for heavier individuals. If you're a larger sleeper, you'll likely find better support and longevity in the Casper hybrid models. Hot sleepers, as mentioned, the 2.8 cooling score is low.
If heat is your number one enemy, an all foam Casper might be too warm. Price and value. Casper's Queen is priced at $1,499 Canadian, and shipping is free.
You get a 100 night sleep trial, giving you 3 months to decide, and it is backed by a 10year warranty. There aren't any free bundles included, but you can opt for in-home delivery and setup, including old mattress removal for an additional $99 plus tax in select cities. Pros and cons. Pros: The balance 6.0 0 out of 10. Medium firm feel of the Casper mattress works well for both back and side sleepers who want a Goldilocks comfort level. The zoned foam design delivers strong pressure relief around 9.0 out of 10, helping shoulders sink in while keeping the hips properly supported. Edge support scored 8.5 out of 10, which is impressive for an all foam mattress and allows you to comfortably use the entire surface. The low bounce and 7.9 out of 10 motion isolation helps absorb movements, making it a decent option for couples. Thanks to the partnership with Sleep Country Canada, shoppers can test the mattress in store before buying. Something rare for many bed in a box brands. Cons: Temperature control is weak, 2..8 out of 10, meaning hot sleepers may find the foam retains too much heat. At around $1,499 Canadian for a queen, it carries a noticeable brand premium compared to other Canadian competitors. The 10-in all foam build may not provide enough deep support for heavier sleepers who are 250 lbs plus. The cover is not removable or machine washable, so a mattress protector is recommended. Final verdict, the Casper mattress remains a solid, dependable choice. It hasn't tried to reinvent the wheel. Instead, it has refined the three layer foam design that made it a household name. The zone support is legit, and the edge support is among the best we've seen for an all phone bed. While it runs a bit warmer than its marketing might suggest and carries a higher price point than some local Canadian competitors, the convenience of trying it in store at Sleep Country and the predictable medium firm comfort make it a safe bet for the average sleeper.
