The Grey Partridge (Perdix perdix), also known as the Common Partridge, is a hardy, medium-sized game bird measuring 29-31 cm in length with a 45-48 cm wingspan, featuring a round head, bulky body, and short tail; adults display orange-brown faces, grey-brown upperparts with chestnut streaks, and barred flanks, making them masters of camouflage in farmlands, steppes, and meadows; these ground-dwelling birds feed on seeds, plants, and insects, are famous for their explosive short flights when disturbed, and nest in shallow depressions lined with grass, laying 8-23 eggs; they are a common but elusive resident of Iran's northwestern and northern regions.
