[00:00:10]Somewhere along the way, goth culture online stopped being a music-based subculture and started turning to algorithm-fed fetish content because apparently now, instead of Bauhaus and post-punk, we got blind dates, thirst traps, and whatever the hell this is. And before we start, I just want to say thank you all for the overwhelming support on my first video. It genuinely makes me happy knowing people are actually interested in what I got to say, and I couldn't be more grateful. So, seriously, happy 100 subs. Now, let's get into it.

[00:01:24]Even when stuff like this is satire, it still feeds into the internet version of goth culture, where everything gets exaggerated into the brain-rot content instead of what the culture actually is.

[00:01:34]And over time, that kind of stuff just drowns out the original meaning. Let's get up for OUR NEXT CONTESTANT.

[00:04:18]All right. Let's zoom out for a bit.

[00:04:21]Let's look at the bigger picture of what we just watched.

[00:04:24]The truth is people aren't really interacting with goth culture. They're interacting with their idea of goth culture shaped by the internet. And it's because of the algorithm. The algorithm doesn't care about goth culture at all.

[00:04:39]It doesn't care about the music, the history, or what it actually means. It just takes what it sees at face value.

[00:04:45]Black clothes, heavy makeup, graveyards, Monster energy, edgy behavior, and it turns into a template, a character, a trend, something that can be repeated, clipped, and pushed out again and again.

[00:05:00]And sadly, the algorithm rewards it. And the reason is simple. It doesn't care about the meaning or accuracy or culture. It cares about what's quick to understand, what gets attention fast, what people can recognize instantly without thinking too hard. Because the faster something grabs attention, the more it gets pushed out. And that's how everything starts getting turned into a stereotype instead of culture.

[00:05:24]And I don't want to be the goth police or anything. I'm not saying you can't be goth. Of course you can. That's not the point.

[00:05:32]But I think a lot of people who care about the culture can agree it hurts a little to see the heart of the getting pushed to the side. And when I say heart, I'm talking about the music, the bands, the sound, the history behind it. That's what goth actually came from, not just the aesthetic you see online. And the sad part is, a lot of those bands, a lot of that music, just gets completely ignored now, because it's easier for the internet to focus on the look than the sound.

[00:06:02]And that's the part I think gets lost.
