Ramesses II was a mighty pharaoh and a great builder. This discovery in the Nile Delta aligns perfectly with where the Bible says the Israelites worked. The statue was found at Tell el-Fara'in, believed to be the biblical city of Pithom, one of the store cities built by Israelite slaves in Exodus 1:11. Exodus says the Israelites were ruthlessly made to work as slaves, making their lives bitter with hard service in Pithom and Ramses.
