This analysis masterfully bridges the gap between academic musicology and pop culture, proving that technical complexity can coexist with mainstream appeal. It is a rare, high-caliber synthesis of theory and performance that elevates the entire Eurovision discourse.

Veronica Fusaro – Alice Reactionalysis 🇨🇭Music Teacher Reacts & Analyses Switzerland Eurovision 2026Added:
What are we doing?
Veronica.
Let's get this up. Veronica Fusaro.
She's got the Swiss flag flying behind her in Eurovision 2026.
The song is called Alice. Alice.
Who the is Alice?
Sorry, that was a very niche Aussie joke. If you understood what I just said, just post a link in the comments of what I was referring to. All right.
So, it it highlights how easily a person's voice can be taken taken away. The song is about a woman named Alice. It's even named after her, but she never actually gets to speak. Her story is told entirely by someone else. All right, that's really good to know. See, this is this is the kind of stuff we need, not just generic love songs, right? Pop and soul and rock elements. Reputation is one of the most one of the most distinguished vocals in the Swiss scene.
She's 28. What else? What else do we know? Yeah, look. Let's see what we've got.
>> [singing] >> Yeah.
>> [music] >> I'm loving this. We've got a compound time signature. We've got a 6/8. Just this laid-back bump bump bump bump bump bump. Really heavy on the snare, big backbeat. It's kind of like it's swung.
It's got these jazz elements, but very clearly rock elements as well.
And it's um we haven't had many major keys this year, so it's really really good to see. Let's just um quickly check out this chord progression. Oh, but it's beautiful. Her vocals, such a smooth vocal tone. Pleasant to listen to.
Yeah.
Yes. Okay.
>> [music] >> I spill my secrets. Rhythmic unison.
Let's go on, and then we'll talk about some of these musical elements. I think this is incredible.
Listen to that bass part really coming out.
>> [singing] >> Here we go.
Ah.
>> [music] [music] [singing] >> Yes.
What an amazing chorus.
This is going to be incredible on stage.
This is qualifying, no doubt about it.
Uh this is original. And when I say original, with with that there's no kind of style which hasn't not been done.
But, this is a sound that people are going to love. And through some nice harmonic shifts, some chordal shifts, the use of instrumentation that 1 2 3 4 5 6. There aren't many songs in compound time this year, so this is really standing out.
It's laid-back, and after reading what it's about on on the eurovision.com site, it's creepy. It seems creepy as hell. I've been studying your ways.
>> [singing and music] >> Beautiful chord progression. Let let's keep going, because this this is going to blow people away. Again, her vocals, she's a she's an alto, uh and the way that this harmony is moving again in that compound time signature is very appealing. We do have a very very strong 1 2 3 4 5 6.
>> [singing and music] [music] >> Honest?
Yeah.
>> [music] [music] [music] >> Yes.
Yes.
>> [music] >> This is brilliant. This this is nothing short of brilliant. Not just that, but nothing short of a fresh breath fresh fresh Nothing short of a breath of fresh air to hear this to hear this style to hear it delivered in the way that it is.
Vocally, your use of backing vocals here is working really really well. Creates an excellent bit of contrast.
Yeah.
Yeah. And then you hear that boom boom that knocking with with those sound effects. Just these little things which not only take you by surprise, but create contrast. The accent of those beats. The accent of those rhythms.
Knocking. Using the backing vocals, I guess, in a way which thickens the texture, but also seems like a bit of a call and response, but not. It's a leading into the knocking at the door.
Like like listen to how perfectly that it for me that took me by surprise. Just hearing those backing vocals come in.
Boom boom boom. Yeah.
Got like a guitar drumming. Got like a guitar.
>> [music] >> Okay. Let's get to the end of this chorus and see what's happening in the bridge. This is I think now formally at least in my top three to five just from hearing this much. I'm I'm going to be honest. I've only got a few more songs left to listen to as of recording this.
>> [music] [music] [music] >> I've got to get tossed all night. Yeah.
>> [music] >> vanished Lights in my life has vanished.
Please open your eyes.
Are you turning cold? From feather to stone.
Baby, don't leave me alone.
Yes.
That deserves top 10 and more. This This is what we need. Like I'm sorry. It's just This is a too much of of of the attempted pop and not enough of of this. Not enough of Veronica Fusaro.
Fusaro. I'm blown away. I'm I'm absolutely blown away by Switzerland this year. Um and I was blown away the other year as well when they won, but this is just something truly both simple and brilliant. And I'll look into it a little bit more, I think, the more I hear it. Let me know your thoughts down below. Thank you so much for watching. I see all the comments.
Until next time.
