[00:00:13]An apology may acknowledge the past, but acknowledgement alone does not repair damage. The effects of slavery did not end when slavery ended. The economic and educational and social consequences have echoed through generations. If institutions benefited from injustice, many believe those institutions should do more than say they are sorry.

[00:00:36]They should invest in solutions, opportunity, education, community development, and meaningful reparative efforts. Many advocates today, brothers and sisters, argued even back then that reparations could help support economic independence, community investment, business ownership, education, and greater self-determination. Their position is that repairing historic harm requires more than words. It requires tangible action that help communities build a stronger future. This is not about hatred, and this is not about revenge. This is about accountability.
