Welcome the Holy Spirit Into Your Day Before You Begin | Morning PrayerAdded:
Before you check your phone, there is a person waiting to meet with you. Before you answer a single message, he is already standing near. Before your feet carry you into one decision today, the Holy Spirit calls your name, my friends. He is not a feeling or a vague force. He is the third person of the Trinity, the spirit of the living God.
He has been sent to be your helper, your comforter, and your guide. Yet, here is a truth that many believers miss every morning. The Holy Spirit will not push into a day you have already crowded with noise. He waits to be invited. He waits to be welcomed. He waits to be honored as the one who leads your steps. The scripture says in John 14:26, "But the helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you, my friends. Did you hear what Jesus promised you? He did not leave you to figure your life out alone. He sent his spirit to teach you, remind you, and lead you faithfully. But none of that begins until you welcome him before the day begins. Many of us start our mornings with worry already churning in our minds. We rush into traffic without first running into his presence. We schedule meetings before we have stopped to receive his direction. And then we wonder why the day feels heavy and dry.
My dear friends, you were never created to carry your hours alone. You were made to walk with God hand in hand, hour by hour. When you welcome the Holy Spirit first, everything else takes its proper place.
Your mind becomes settled within you.
Your steps become ordered by wisdom.
This is why the morning matters so deeply for every believer. It is the doorway through which the rest of your day will walk. The person you greet first will sit with you through every meeting. The voice you tune in to first will rise above every other voice all day. Today I will show you why welcoming the Holy Spirit before you begin is the holiest, wisest, and most powerful choice you can make every single morning. I am also going to pray a powerful prayer with you in the mighty name of Jesus. So watch until the end and open your hearts to receive the blessings of this prayer. Now let us look at this powerful truth. The Holy Spirit waits to be welcomed before your day begins. My friends, this is not a small matter for any of us. The God who created the heavens and the earth has placed his spirit inside his people. But the question is, will you stop long enough to greet him? Will you give him the first breath, the first thought, the first prayer? The scripture says in Psalm 5:3, "My voice you shall hear in the morning, O Lord. In the morning I will direct it to you, and I will look up." David did not say sometimes. He did not say only when life is calm. He said, "In the morning, my voice you shall hear, and in the morning I will look up." David understood that the first moments of the day belong to God. He knew that whoever wins the morning sets the tone for the whole soul. The scripture also says in Psalm 143:8, "Cause me to hear your loving kindness in the morning, for in you do I trust. Cause me to know the way in which I should walk, for I lift up my soul to you. Hear that prayer with me, my friends. David asked God to make him hear loving kindness in the morning. He asked God to show him the way to walk that very day. He lifted up his soul before he lifted up his sword. The Holy Spirit is the one who carries that loving kindness to your heart. He is the one who reveals the path you should walk that day. But you must invite him before the noise of the world drowns out his voice. The scripture also says in Exodus 33:14, "And he said, "My presence will go with you and I will give you rest." Moses had asked the Lord one bold thing. He told God that if his presence did not go, he would not move from that place. That is the heart we must carry into every morning. Not Lord, bless my plans. But Lord, if you do not come with me, I will not move at all. When you welcome the Holy Spirit first, his presence becomes your covering. His presence becomes your wisdom, your peace, and your rest. The scripture also says in Mark 1:35, "Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, he went out and departed to a solitary place, and there he prayed. My friends, even Jesus did not begin his ministry day without retreating with the Father. The Son of God carved out the morning to seek the Father in secret. If Jesus needed to begin his day in prayer, how much more do you and I, we who are weak, who are tempted, who are pulled in a hundred directions, we must follow the pattern of our savior every single morning. Now consider the example of Bezel in the book of Exodus. When God prepared to build the tabernacle, he chose a man named Bezel for the work. The scripture says in Exodus 31:es 1:3, "Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, see, I have called by name Bezale, the son of Yuri, the son of her, of the tribe of Judah, and I have filled him with the spirit of God in wisdom, in understanding, in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship." Pause and listen carefully to that, my friends. Before bezel cut a single piece of gold, God filled him with the spirit. Before he carved a single piece of wood, God filled him with wisdom. Before he set a single jewel, God filled him with skill from above. The work of his hands was prepared by the work of God within him.
That is the order God has set for every faithful servant. The spirit comes first, then the assignment.
Then the harvest. If Bezel had begun the tabernacle in his own strength, the result would have been ordinary. But because he began full of the spirit, the tabernacle became a holy meeting place.
That is what the Holy Spirit does in your mourning. My dear ones, he fills you with wisdom for tasks you have never faced before. He gives you understanding for people you do not yet know how to love. He places favor on assignments you would have ruined in your own ability.
But all of that is poured out only when you welcome him first. So how do we welcome him in the morning? My friends, we do not need long speeches or perfect words. We simply still our hearts and say, "Holy Spirit, you are welcome here.
Come and lead me today. Come and teach me today. Come and fill what is empty in me right now. Then order the steps of this day for the glory of Jesus. That short sincere prayer opens the door of your heart wide. It tells heaven that you do not want to walk this day alone.
The spirit who hovered over the waters at creation will hover over your mourning. He will bring order where there was disorder. He will bring light where there was confusion. Direction will come where there was indecision. He will fill you with the wisdom of bezel for the work in front of you. So before you scroll, before you speak, before you step out the door, pause, greet the Holy Spirit. Welcome him into the room you are sitting in. Welcome him into the office you are about to walk into.
Welcome him into the schedule you are about to face. He has been waiting for you and he longs to fill your day with his presence. Once you make this your first habit, every other part of your faith grows stronger because you are not walking alone in your own strength. You are walking with the spirit of the living God right beside you. Let us now focus on what happens after you welcome the spirit at the start of your day. My dear friends, welcoming him is not a one-time prayer for the morning. It is the beginning of an entire day spent yielding to his leadership. The Holy Spirit does not lead you for 10 minutes and then disappear. He walks with you into every meeting, every conversation, and every choice. But your part is to keep listening, yielding, and obeying him. The scripture says in Romans 8:14, "For as many as are led by the spirit of God, these are sons of God, not those who simply pray to God, but those led by the spirit of God. Not those who only attend church, but those who follow his spirit." Sunship in the kingdom is marked by daily joyful surrender to his leading. You cannot welcome the spirit at 6:00 in the morning and ignore him by 9. You cannot pray a beautiful prayer and then run your day in your own ability. The same spirit who comforted you in your bedroom wants to direct you at your desk. The scripture also says in John 16:13, "However, when he, the Spirit of truth, has come, he will guide you into all truth. For he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears, he will speak, and he will tell you things to come, my friends.
Take a breath and let that promise settle deep into your heart. The Spirit of truth is sent to guide you into all truth. He will tell you things to come.
He will warn you about doors that look open but lead into trouble. He will whisper to you about words that should not be spoken. He will press into your spirit, the right person to call at the right hour. But all of his guidance requires one thing from you. You must keep your inner ear awake to his voice all day long. The scripture also says in Galatians 5:16, I say then, walk in the spirit and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. Walking is step after step after step. Walking in the spirit is the moment by moment surrender of your will to his. When the alarm goes off, you walk in the spirit.
When the email arrives that frustrates you, you walk in the spirit. When your child raises their voice, you walk in the spirit. And when your boss pushes a heavy task on you, you walk in the spirit. You do not flip back to the flesh just because the moment becomes hard. Now consider the story of Simeon, the old man in the temple. You will find his account in the book of Luke. The scripture says in Luke 2 25-27, "And behold, there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon. And this man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him. And it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit, that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord's Christ." So he came by the Spirit into the temple. He came by the spirit into the temple at the perfect hour. Simeon did not come by the urging of his own thoughts. He did not come because his calendar said to come.
He came because the Holy Spirit moved him there at that exact hour. And on that very morning, the parents of Jesus walked into the temple. Simeon took the Christ child into his arms and blessed God with prophecy. He saw the salvation of the world because he obeyed a quiet leading. What if Simeon had been too tired to listen that morning? What if he had told himself, "I will go to the temple later." He would have missed the moment he had been waiting for his entire life. My dear friends, that is what is at stake when we ignore the spirit's prompings. There are appointments God has prepared that only his spirit knows about. There is a coworker waiting for an encouraging word from your mouth. There is a stranger waiting for a kind smile that proves God still sees them. A phone call is waiting to be made by you today. A Bible verse is waiting to comfort someone you have not even met yet. The Holy Spirit knows them all and is willing to lead you to each one. But your part is to keep saying yes throughout the entire day.
Yes, Holy Spirit. I will pause to pray right now. Yes, Holy Spirit. I will speak gently to that person. Yes, Holy Spirit. I will not chase what you did not approve. With every chance, I will give where you have led me to give. And I will be silent when you ask me to hold my tongue. That string of small yeses becomes a powerful day in the hand of God. That string of obedience builds a life that resembles Jesus more each year. So as you welcome him at sunrise, also commit to follow him at noon and at sunset. Make him the Lord of your morning, your midday, and your evening alike. He will lead you so tenderly that you will hardly notice the work of his hand. But at the end of the day, you will look back and see his fingerprints everywhere. And let us now reflect on the empowering and comforting work the Holy Spirit does in you all day. My friends, the Holy Spirit is not only your guide, he is also your power and your comforter. He does not lead you into a hard day and then leave you to handle it alone. He fills you with strength from above and peace from within. The spirit of God supplies what your flesh and your mind could never produce alone. The scripture says in Acts 1:8, "But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you.
And you shall be witnesses to me in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria and to the end of the earth." Pause on that promise with me, my dear friends.
Power. You shall receive power, not human energy, not caffeine, not positive thinking alone. You shall receive supernatural power from the spirit of God himself. That power is for witnessing, for serving, for forgiving, for enduring, for loving. That is the power you carry into your home, your workplace, and your community. But that power flows only when you have welcomed him and stayed yielded to him. You cannot live a Christthonoring life on natural ability alone. You will burn out, grow bitter, or quietly compromise instead. When the spirit fills you, you walk through the day with quiet, holy boldness. The scripture also says in Romans 8:26, "Likewise, the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses.
For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered." My friends, what comfort is in those words? The spirit helps you in your weaknesses. He prays for you when your own words fail you. He carries your unspoken pain to the throne of grace beyond language.
When you cannot find the words to pray, he prays through you. When you cannot understand what you are feeling, he gives it to the father clearly. This is the comforter Jesus promised working inside you all day. The scripture also says in 2 Corinthians 3:17, "Now the Lord is the spirit. And where the spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty." Hear the freedom that flows from that verse, my dear ones. Where the spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. There is freedom from condemnation that is whispered against your soul. There is freedom from every fear and from the opinions of people. Old habits that once chained your soul are loosed in his presence. The heaviness that weighed your mourning gives way to his joy when you welcome the spirit and walk with him. You walk in the air of liberty. Now consider the example of Steven, a faithful servant of the early church.
You will find his account in the book of Acts. The scripture says in Acts 6:5, "And the saying pleased the whole multitude." And they chose Steven, a man full of faith and the Holy Spirit, and Philillip Proorus, Nyonor, Timman, Parmmenis, and Nicholas, a procelite from Antioch. Did you notice the description of Steven, my friends? He was a man full of faith and the Holy Spirit. That is the secret of his strength and his peace. He had welcomed the spirit and remained filled with the spirit every day. The scripture also says in Acts 7:es 55 to 56, but he being full of the Holy Spirit gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God. and Jesus standing at the right hand of God and said, "Look, I see the heavens opened and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God." Steven stood before angry men with stones in their hands. He stood before false witnesses and a hostile court. But because he was full of the spirit, he saw heaven open above him. He saw Jesus standing for him in the courtroom of heaven. The glory of God shone brighter than any threat from the earth. That is what the Holy Spirit does for the believer who welcomes him every morning. He gives you eyes to see what others cannot see in trouble. He gives you peace that no betrayal can steal from your heart. The spirit places a song in your mouth. Even when the world throws stones and he pours out grace to forgive when forgiveness seems impossible to give. That same spirit lives inside of you today. My friends, he is fully present, fully willing, and fully able to help you all day. When meetings turn tense, he will give you wisdom you did not know you had. When relationships strain, he will pour out love that came from heaven, not from you. When grief presses on your chest, he will breathe quiet hope into your soul. In moments of temptation, he will hand you the sword of the spirit. And in lonely hours he will whisper that you are never truly alone. This is why your morning prayer is not a religious habit. It is a holy invitation that opens every other moment of the day. You are not asking the spirit to do something new. You are agreeing with what he has already promised to do for those who welcome him. So today, welcome him to empower you, to comfort you, and to walk you home. My friends, the most sacred meeting in the calendar of every believer is the morning meeting with the living God. My friends, no person, no plan, and no problem deserves your first yes more than the Holy Spirit of the living God himself.
Now to all those within the sound of my voice, let us go to the Lord in prayer.
I want you to pray this prayer with me or listen to this prayer in faith so that you can have all the blessings of this prayer. Let us pray to our gracious and loving God. Heavenly Father, Almighty God, you are holy and holy and holy. You are the Lord of hosts, the King of every King. Before you every knee will one day bow in surrender and song. Ancient of days, you sit above all earthly thrones with perfect peace, clothed with light, crowned with glory.
You reign in unbroken majesty. Your name is high above every name in heaven. and on the earth. We bow our hearts in worship before you at this very hour.
Thank you, Lord, for opening our eyes to see this day you have made. Thank you for breathing fresh life into our lungs while we slept. We praise you for the gift of your spirit who waits to walk beside us. We honor you for Jesus, our savior, who died and was raised again.
Thank you for sealing us with your Holy Spirit. our promised inheritance from above. Forgive me, Lord, for the mornings I gave my phone before you.
Forgive me for trusting my own thoughts ahead of your word. Forgive me for stepping into the day without inviting your spirit first. Pardon every word I rushed and every worry I rehearsed in fear. Wash me clean in the precious blood of Jesus Christ, my Lord. As you have forgiven me, I also forgive others.
I release every person who has ever wounded my heart in any way. I let go of every offense, every grudge, and every silent grievance. Holy Spirit, I welcome you into the rest of this day. I yield my morning, my noon time, and my evening into your hands. You are my helper. You are my comforter. You are my guide. Lead me into every conversation you have planned for me. Hush my own voice. When your voice is trying to be heard, hold me back from doors that look right, but lead nowhere in the name of Jesus. I refuse to walk in my own ability. I rebuke every spirit of distraction that wants my focus today. I rebuke every spirit of confusion that wants my mind today. Every quiet heaviness that wants to settle on my chest must lift now.
Speak to me, Holy Spirit. Even in the smallest moments, comfort me when memories rise up to steal my joy.
Empower me to speak life and not death today. Empower me to forgive quickly and to bless others freely. Wisdom from heaven orders every step I take this day. Peace of Christ rules my mind without fail. In the mighty name of Jesus, I am led. I am kept and I am filled. Father, in Jesus' name, I receive every blessing you have prepared for this day. I receive your provision for every need on my list. I receive your favor in every meeting I attend today. Cover my body, my mind, and my home with your protection right now.
Your peace will keep my heart when reports are heavy on my shoulders in the mighty name of Jesus.
Doors of breakthrough are opening for me. Doors shut against me for years are opening this very morning. Long delayed answers are arriving from heaven into my hands. Resources I once chased are now being sent to find me. I declare every plan of the enemy against my finances is broken now. Abundance is replacing lack in the mighty name of Jesus. Promotion is coming to me without manipulation or any compromise. Lord, you are the God who gives power to get wealth. You are the God who opens the windows of heaven over your people. In the name of Jesus, I am restored where I have been depleted. In the name of Jesus, I am vindicated where I have been wronged. The favor of God surrounds me as a shield this day. No weapon formed against me shall prosper in any season.
The blood of Jesus speaks better things over my life today. I walk in covenant favor as a chosen child of the living God. I walk in the abundant life Jesus paid for on the cross. Lord Jesus, by the stripes you bore, I am healed in body and mind. I receive healing into every cell, every organ, every joint, and every nerve. I command sickness to leave my body in the mighty name of Jesus. I command pain to bow at the name above every name. Every fear, anxiety, and depression must release my mind right now. Holy Spirit, breathe deep peace into the broken places of my soul.
Bind up the wounds the years have left in me. Restore the parts of my heart that have grown numb to joy. Heal the hidden hurts no one else ever saw or named. Lord, you are the God who heals all our diseases. You are the God who turns mourning into dancing for your saints. I declare that I am whole, blessed, and walking in divine health.
In the precious name of Jesus, I receive complete healing today. Father, I lift up my loved ones into your strong and faithful hands. Cover my family with the precious blood of Jesus Christ today.
Cover my children with wisdom, with purity, and with the fear of the Lord.
Surround my marriage with grace that softens every harsh edge between us.
Wrap my friends in the peace that surpasses understanding in their lives.
Save the souls of my loved ones who do not yet know you. Send laborers to speak of Jesus to those I have prayed for in tears. Heal the loved one carrying a weight I am not allowed to share.
Provide for the loved one whose pockets feel painfully empty this morning.
Defend the loved one being attacked at school, at work, or at home. Lord, no one in our family will be lost to the enemy. Every loved one will fulfill the destiny you wrote before time began.
Lord, I surrender every burden I have not yet been able to put into words. You see the unspoken prayer in my heart at this moment. I lay down the secret hopes I am almost afraid to ask for. I lay down the questions that have followed me for years without answer. I trust you with the parts of my story that still do not make sense. In the name of Jesus, I rest in your perfect, loving, sovereign will. Lord, as I say this prayer together with everyone listening, I am grateful for every heart that is opening before you right now. We come in agreement, praying for each other. We claim victory in every battle that has come against your people. Healing flows in every body, every mind, and every home. Today, protection covers every family, every workplace, and every road.
This day, we claim restoration over every loss the enemy tried to make permanent. Breakthrough comes on jobs, marriages, ministries, and finances. Now in the mighty name of Jesus, every chain is breaking off our lives.
Every assignment of darkness is canceled this very morning. We thank you, Father, for hearing the cry of your people this morning. For yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory forever and ever.
