The Parker Solar Probe launched in 2018 [music] with one mission, get closer to the sun than any object in human history. It travels at 690,000 km per hour, the fastest human-made object ever built. The sun's outer atmosphere reaches [music] 2 million degrees. The probe survives using a carbon heat shield just 11 cm thick. On one side, 1400°. On the other side, room temperature. The engineering is almost incomprehensible. But the real reason Parker exists [music] is a mystery we've had for 70 years. The sun's corona is hotter than its surface.
