This analysis masterfully bridges the gap between complex fluid dynamics and public safety, grounding a routine alert in genuine scientific rigor. It is a rare example of local news that respects the viewer's intelligence instead of relying on mere sensationalism.

Storms starting to push through South-Central Texas region | Weather Impact AlertAdded:
All right, we want to check back in with Bill weather impact alert. Last we saw you Bill, there was a brand new thunderstorm warning happening. Yes, so they extended a little bit farther east in Frio County. This is not for San Antonio, but our weather is probably a few hours from now. A lot of this action is happening southwest and I wanted to start with the severe prediction outlook that has been moved a little farther east from the last time I saw you. In fact, I updated this this morning on social media and the two out of five risks stopped at Medina County and did not include San Antonio. Now the severe prediction center has extended it farther east to take in all of Comal County. So this is going to be Canyon Lake, New Braunfels and just about down to Seguin. Seguin's like right on the cusp of it, but it does include Pearsall down to about Kennedy and you can see right down a good portion of the I-37 corridor south towards Pearsall. I'm sorry, towards Corpus Christi, 35 towards Pearsall. That's where the action has been, so let's get to it.
This severe thunderstorm warning that Sarah just mentioned, this is the one extended now right up to the Atascosa County line that's in effect until 5:00 p.m. This supercell is the one that had us under a tornado warning in Frio County and it was a good good indication. I saw a few indications on that cell that that was a tornado for a brief moment touching the ground west of Pearsall, about 15, maybe 20 miles west of Pearsall in far west Frio County.
This cell was pretty dangerous, but it's starting to weaken. That's why that severe thunderstorm warning has expired.
It would It went under a warning northwest of Uvalde and was moving up towards Leakey. These cells are awfully dangerous, but starting to drift a little farther south than east and what most of the model predictions are showing is is that all of this storm area right here over Edwards County and Rocksprings should congeal into a nice line that starts to march towards us in San Antonio for later this evening. So far, we've only seen a few scattered downpours that just have not lasted.
Notice that the current situation, we've got some rain coming down at Calaveras Lake, but everything here has just been rain. And you'll see it across northwest Bear County drifting to the north and kind of raining itself out before really kind of building or really getting more intense. I mean, we're just not looking at intense thunderstorms here. But now we are. I mean, look at all these storms west. And again, this just happening.
Watch watch this storm bloom out of nowhere right there south of Kerrville.
So what's happening is it's that flow, that southwest flow from the eastern Pacific right across Mexico and into South Texas. And embedded in there are these little pockets of instability, right? And so you have these energy spots or I should say instability spots of these jet streaks, and they're just massive wind speeds aloft, and it creates a tremendous amount of lift cuz here's what's happening. What what let's pretend the clicker is the upper level wind, okay?
When it's racing over top, what happens at the surface is there's wind going up to replace what's moving out. It increases buoyancy. It increases lift at the surface because the atmosphere is always trying to balance itself. And so as these jet streaks come over, wherever they're coming over, there's going to be a little bit more lift right underneath that. And when you have a tremendous amount of good Gulf moisture in place at the surface, now you add in daytime heating and sunshine, and this is what you get. And those pockets of those little jet maxes are what we're dealing with in this flow. So this is the most dangerous spot. I would say between Camp Wood and Junction, but everything moving north. This will not impact San Antonio till that disturbance gets a good push to the east. And that's why we have a severe thunderstorm watch until 9:00 p.m. that does not include Bear County, Kendall County, or Comal County, even though I showed you we're in the two out of five risk, but I think this could be extended farther east and extended it time as well. And then you've got the flood watch through Wednesday morning.
That does include San Antonio, the I-35 corridor. In fact, if I take off the severe thunderstorm watch counties, you can see the flood watch goes all the way west to Del Rio. Outside right now in the city, I can show you that we've got a mix of mid-level and high-level clouds and a warm 82, but not too bad.
Southeast wind about 14 mph. 14-day forecast, I can show you that tomorrow is a weather impact alert with a 60% chance of afternoon storms developing.
83. Then we get into Thursday, Friday.
We should expect things to dry out a bit. I'm going to drop rain chances and bring them back over the weekend. 20% Saturday, but 40% Saturday evening right now before we go to a 30% chance on the final day of May. Then into June, we've got a 30% chance to kick off the 6th month of the year and we'll stick with an isolated shower or two on June 2nd as well.
