[music] >> Our next stop is with expressive e. How you doing? I'm doing great. First day still so plenty of energy. Yeah, I hope.
Glad to hear it. So the Osmos family has recently expanded again. So a little while ago you did a 61 key version of the Osmos, right? And we've now got two Osmos CEs. What's different about the CE?
The CE doesn't have the internal sound engine because it's a controller only.
But in fact, it's kind of a new generation of MIDI controllers all together because as you know, we've got this um super expressive key bed that was in the Osmos synthesizer that made it so beloved. And we still got the exact same key bed inside here.
But we took this to the realm of software sounds. Already in the last past months we worked together with different plug-in brands like Kilohearts, [snorts] like Synapse Audio, like Dorsum Music, and we've kind of built an ecosystem where you would have a different palette of great sounds all around the Osmos key bed.
>> Yeah. Which works really well together with the augmented keyboard action that does detect your pressure continuously from the very first millimeter of the key travel that does detect your aftertouch and where you can play even vibrato >> [music] [music] >> directly on the keys. So we had this realm of software sounds, but until now it was rather complicated to access them all because each plug-in had to be configured differently. Yeah.
>> And now with this with the controller edition of Osmos, we deliver an application with it control e with more than 900 expressive sounds that are built directly into this so you can see the interface here on my laptop. I've got June three, I've got contrast, legend 8, etc. Plenty of plugins that are in there. And even if you don't own those plugin licenses, you still get in total more than 900 sounds that you can play away with and use the directly on the instruments. The eight markers to dial in your sounds. So everything pre-mapped to the controller.
>> on our end by sound designers. And you're using this together so you don't have to reach over to your mouse that often. With a full DAW integration that's also new for the controller edition. So for Qbase, for Bitwig, for Ableton Live, and for Logic Pro, you can navigate through your DAW. So I could open and hide the plugins interface. I can go and scroll through my playhead, scrub here, I can activate loop, deactivate it. I can go upwards, downwards through my list of tracks. I can dial in the volume and so on and so forth. Have panning control, send control, undo, redo, tempo directly from the screen, tap tempo as well. Lots of integration and all of that came additional in this new for the controller edition but it will also be integrated for everybody who already owns an Osmose synthesizer.
>> That was my next question, yeah.
>> the only difference will be that this one is in beautiful white and the synthesizer is in beautiful black Yeah.
>> and has this internal sound engine on top of it.
So pretty proud to introduce that and perhaps I'm just going to show you a few sounds to make sure yeah, to show the offers so to say. Let's check that.
>> [music] [music] [music] [music] [music] >> So just to show you what's going on.
Here I was using one of our sounds based on noisy two, which is one of our own software synthesizers.
Because I'm owning the license of this plugin, I have the interface directly here, but even if I wasn't owning the plugin, I can still play with the macros and do some basic sound tweaks.
And what's also pretty nice is that if I'm moving down here to another instance of or up to this pad.
This is made with Vital and Vital Audio.
Vital is a free version, but a wonderfully good quality one that we really love. So we programmed for the release of the Osmose CE more than 250 sounds specifically for Vital Audio, and because this is accessible for free and comes with Control E.
Here even if you have no additional plugin license, you have access to the full >> full control over everything.
>> editing interface. I'm going to give you an example of this just how it sounds, pad sound.
>> [music] [music] >> And perhaps another one something in a close here. Look what else do we got?
Uh lead sound.
You can cut that out.
>> [laughter] >> Uh Where are we? Perhaps this >> [music] >> higher.
>> [snorts] >> Uh Yeah.
Uh so we got another sound from Vital as well.
Uh and I'd like to show you one expressive feature that uh is there on the Osmose but also here on the controller. And this is the pressure glide.
Um so for any sound that is a MPE I can dial up the pressure glide uh functionality here. And then I'm able to do a little glides between the uh the notes. Let's say for the four key bed.
So now with a kind of a seesaw motion I can have very slow glides and very fast glides.
>> [music] >> Which is pretty nice because you wouldn't think about it if you see the segmented surface but there's no way to directly glide across the keys.
So that's a cool thing.
And on the other hand last thing I'd like to show you is a that there is an arpeggiator as well.
Uh let me dial over to uh bringing that function.
Not sure which sound it will be.
>> [music] >> So, here the deeper you press, the more velocity is going to be sent. It's going to be working with any of your sounds.
>> [music] >> Still, I've got individual control over the keys. So, depending on how deep I press, >> [music] >> it's going to put a highlight on that specific note, [singing] but only on that note.
And I can still bend.
Can you hear that?
>> [music] >> And this makes the arpeggiator so much more organic than your usual static arpeggiator.
These are the two functions. And we should never forget that, well, one strong point that we have is you don't have to learn new Of course, yeah.
>> what you already know. You can keep your basic piano skills. You know, you feel at home right away. And this also applies generally to playing, which means that when I'm outside of this control expressive sounds world, um it will uh if I'm on a well, all these tracks you have control e for the sake of demonstration, but if I were to have just like my regular piano plug-in Yeah.
directly, it would bring me back to uh regular external MIDI mode.
And there I can still play classic MIDI mono channel piano parts, but I can go further and use poly aftertouch, but no pitch bend. I can use some multi-channel workarounds with my sample libraries, all fully fledged MPE if the plug-in supports it, but it's not part of our two ecosystems. So, it's really a controller that has everything you know already, >> Yeah. but builds up on that and adding all these expressive possibilities.
>> if someone's already got some MPE capable instruments, they can they can map the same sounds. by Arturia, for example, or Spectrasonics uh with the new version Omnisphere that got MPE support recently. All that's going to work fluently from the interface as well.
>> Fantastic. That's That's a That's a lot of lot of stuff packed in there.
Um are they available to buy now? Yes, they're already shipping everywhere.
>> Fantastic. And what's the pricing? Uh pricing is for the 49 keys model, which is one octave less than this, um 999 dollar euros approximately. And for the 61 key version here, it's 1199.
Always coming with the control e software with more than 900 sounds. And as mentioned, all the functionalities also going coming to the Osmose synth later this year.
