To become effective change agents, believers must first undergo internal transformation through a changed heart and renewed mind, which enables them to speak divine truth into present circumstances and bring about positive change in others; this process requires overcoming fear of man, developing a prayer life, and understanding that God's potential within us is revealed through the Holy Spirit.

We will review uh the message that was shared on this past Sunday or past Wednesday and give our thoughts on what we believe the Lord is saying to us in this day and in this hour. Amen.
Amen. So, greetings again family to those of you who are here. My name is Elder Philip Fain and I'll just kick us off um by way of discussion and then I'll ask the panelists to just kind of dive in there as well.
Amen.
Um so, Pastor shared a powerful message on this on this past Sunday and uh I captured many many nuggets from uh the word that he was sharing pertaining to becoming a prophetic church.
And one of the things that I kind of honed in on was this whole theme of changing our mindset.
Um I know that's a part of our vision that you know, we're called to bridge the gap, change mindsets, and transform culture to the standard of Christ, but it really reminded me of some things around why we need to have a changed mindset and why that's critical to to our mission here at Cross Culture Church.
So, the first thing I jotted down was he emphasized that God is doing something that is going to change the atmosphere.
His desire is to make us instruments of change.
It starts by him giving us a change of heart and leads to a change of mind.
And when we're born again, we are a new creation and we must embrace a new mindset.
And I thought about what we meditate on all day long becomes a belief in our mind.
And Pastor actually mentioned that your best thoughts about yourself your best thoughts about yourself are not adequate enough to see the potential that God has placed inside of you.
But when our heart is changed, we can have a different view of who we are.
And the other issue that we see in the church today is that most people hold too low of a view of God.
And what I mean by that when you think about the early church, they had a high concept of God and who who God is.
So, when we think rightly about God we can then embrace that he has empowered us to accomplish grace works for him. Amen.
Or he has empowered us to become change agents. So, I'm going to hand it off at this point and then we'll kind of we'll share a few comments and then we'll get into the scriptures.
>> Well, hello everyone. I in reflecting on the message on Sunday, the first thing I had written in my notes was becoming change agents because that's what I continued to hear over and over again that we're to become change agents. So, then I looked at the notes and I realized that that was not in fact the title.
The title of Sunday's message was becoming a prophetic people. And so, I dug a little deeper into what that means becoming a prophetic people and becoming change agents. Now, what I found out is that being prophetic isn't just about foretelling the future, what God tells us and then we tell someone else, but it's really about forth-telling, which means speaking divine truth into present circumstances to bring about a positive change or justice.
And I said, that's what the message was all about. Bringing about that positive change, our becoming these change agents. And prophetic people uh are wired. I realized that they're they're wired or at least I studied, they're wired by God. Meaning God has already called them. He's already set prophetic people uh becoming prophetic people, he's set these prophetic people, us, apart. He's already um set us apart, meaning that he's already begun to change our hearts. We're not perfect people, but he's already begun to do that work on the inside of us. And I'm I'm going to hold the rest of I'll >> [laughter] >> let you go, Elder.
>> Amen. Um Elder Bobby Jennings.
And like Sister Angela, um becoming a change agent stood out uh to me as well. And so I did a little bit of digging on, you know, the term change agent. It it's just another term for minister, ambassador, uh you know, whatever you want to call it. It it's all one in the same. But I like this definition that was given. Uh a change agent is a person or a group, a person who drives transformation by inspiring, influencing, and guiding others to adopt new ways of operating or thinking.
And one word stood out in there, influence.
There's a you you hear this word a lot on social media, you know, social media influencers.
You hear that a lot.
Whatever product or whatever service that they're marketing, they're influencers and they're trying to get you to become part, you know, of their mission or their goal.
And likewise, us as ministers of God, we are change agents. And change agents has dual responsibilities.
The first responsibility is there has to be some change with us.
Which is what I will feel just, you know, talk talked about. There has to be uh some change in us.
Uh you probably remember the old song, uh I looked at my hands, my hands look new.
Looked at my feet and they did too.
Well, I'm not sure how much physical change took place, but there certainly has to be some type of change in our characters and in our behaviors in order for us to be change agents. Uh very familiar scripture and I I'll close, Matthew 5:16, "So let your light so shine that men may see your good works." And and that's becoming the change agents so that people can look at us and hopefully be influenced by our lifestyle.
>> Hello everyone. My name is Marva Stokes and I got out of the message a lot.
It's I mean it was so so rich. And one of the things that I love is um how the word of God talks about in the beginning was the word.
And the word was with God and the word was God. And then the other scripture that I really love that talks about um how uh the word was was God and the word was um became flesh and dwelt among us.
And we beheld his glory and Jesus came full of grace and full of truth. And of his grace we have all received grace on top of grace. And so I think about that and the one of the grace things of God is that potential. Pastor talked about that potential.
And I looked up potential, the word potential. And he said another thing, we minimize the potential that God has placed in us.
That's because we don't know. We can't know the potential that God has placed in us until he is revealed by the spirit of revelation who Christ is in us. And I think about that scripture that talks about Christ in us, the hope of glory. One of the definitions of potential, it says it refers to the capacity or possibility for something to develop or happen or succeed in the future.
It describes the latent qualities or abilities. Latent means that we're not really aware. They've been there all the time, but we're not aware of it. So the Holy Spirit, the Lord wants to make us aware, reveal those things that he has placed in us.
And it says that are not yet realized, but that can become actualized.
And so, he another thing he was saying is that the Lord is doing a paradigm shift in such a time as this in us. And so, it's going to take the Holy Spirit, the word of God. He talks about the spirit of God hovering over chaos, hovering over darkness. Darkness hides things. And then, when the word of God says, "Let there be light."
>> [laughter] >> And there was light. And you know, the ancient root word, Hebrew root root word for light is order. That's one of the words for light. And another is ordained. And I also love the scripture, and I'm going to shut up, >> [laughter] >> that talks about um um though whom he did foreknow, he foreknew us before he formed us in our mother's womb. Whom he did foreknow, he did predestine to become conformed. Hallelujah.
To the image of his dear son.
And whom he did foreknow, he sanctified, he glorified. You know how the scripture goes. I have to look it up. But anyway, he set us on a trajectory that he had already ordained for our lives as we lead the following and the guiding of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
>> I'm glad you jumped right to Genesis um because that's where we were going next.
I love it how the Holy Spirit reminded us on Sunday that it all began with God.
>> [clears throat] >> He said, "Just Just in case when you're thinking about uh um wrong thoughts about yourself, I'm going back to changing your mindset. He says, if just in just in case you thought your story began with your mother and your father.
He said, you didn't go back far enough.
It you didn't go back far enough. You're thinking about, you know, well, my father was an alcoholic or or my mother, you know, was a drug addict or or or my mother dropped out of school. Like, no, you didn't go back far enough. You got to go all the way back to me in the beginning, in Genesis.
And then even when the when the enemy tries to bring those thoughts to your mind of, you know, your past and your shortcomings and any everything that you did. So, no, no, no, devil, you didn't go back far enough. I'm going back to God. I get my identity from who he is in the beginning. Amen.
>> I don't know at what point I started thinking about my beginnings. Um but I did in that message and I thought about here I am the the child of a mother who said, "I don't want you because you don't look like your brother." I have a brother 11 months older than me.
But my name, God made sure my name was Angela, messenger.
I'm to carry the word of the Lord regardless of what started the way my life here on earth started, God had a purpose and a plan for little old me.
Amen. And you know, when we talk about becoming change agents, one thing um Pastor didn't mention was there has to be a change of heart.
But another thing I saw is that becoming and being a change agent, we can easily become distracted.
And so instead of fully obeying God, we often choose what feels safe, accepted, and comfortable.
That's the same thing he mentioned in the message about pacifying people. You know, becoming not becoming those people who say what people want to hear. Being a change agent is not easy.
Because we're saying and doing what God said. And that's not always what people want to hear.
I remember in the last couple of months when I'm I'm praising, I'm in the midst of worship and praise, and all I could say was, "Yes, Lord. Yes, Lord." And one day I stopped and I opened my eyes and I said, "Oh, wait. What am I saying yes to?"
And it was if the Holy Spirit spoke and said, "Yes to whatever he says." Yes, that's another thing about being this change agent for the Lord is doing whatever he has said to do. And I'm going to tell you quickly and then I'm going to pass this on, but there there the types, the personality, what God does in the heart and the mind of a change agent is that we become seers.
We may see because we're being led by the Holy Spirit. We see what those who aren't following him don't. He allows us to see, to become visionaries, to we're running with the vision, but also to be hearers.
To be sensitive to his voice. To be knowers, meaning to to feel deeply and to empathize with people. But I think Pastor said, "But we empathize, we're not to I believe he said to sympathize."
And I know as Stephen ministers, we learned that we're not to get down in the dirt with people.
But stand right there on the top, reaching our hand down so that we're allowed to pull them up.
As change agents, we're making a difference in the lives of others.
>> Amen. So, I like what you said about potential.
Uh one of the greatest feelings that we can have is being called of God to do anything.
>> [clears throat] >> Because, you know, when you think about you look at Genesis and in the beginning God did this, he did that, he did this, and he did that.
All these great things he did.
And then you think about, wow, so why why would he want to use me?
You know, he's God. He can he can he can do all if he did all of that, then certainly he can then influence people, you know.
And so, one of the greatest feelings is being called of God to do anything.
And at the same time, one of the greatest fears is not being qualified to do it.
And I believe that's where Pastor was trying to get the message he was trying to get across talking about potential.
He said, "The spirit of the Lord hovers over potential." So, if God is able to do that, then he's able to do what he needs to do within us.
Because because it's not about us.
It's the potential.
All of those great leaders in the Old Testament, uh when God first called them, they had reservations.
I'm too young.
I can't talk.
I come from a bad family.
You know, all these excuses uh that they made. And rightfully so.
And so, what they was acknowledging was the fact that that they don't have the potential to do what God is called them to do and that's a good feeling to have because we should rely upon God to do what he needs to do within us.
And so even though that's a that that's you know, we fear we have fears about doing this like you said it's it's hard.
It is it's not easy you know, trying to convince people because people are set in their ways we're set in our ways.
>> [laughter] >> And our pastor used to tell us back in the day just give the people time you know, just give them time you know, they they'll come they're coming. So the potential is not within us it's it's within God.
>> And one of the things that stood out to me also was he I think somebody already talked about it. He says the mind can't be changed unless the heart is changed.
God has to change our hearts. He must give us new hearts.
And so he says we we will then think differently about ourselves and see the world through different lenses.
And so I was thinking about the heart.
How is the heart changed but God has to transform us and I think about how we are to be transformed by the renewing of our mind. The word of God says to be in Romans 12 and 2 I think it says be transformed by the renewing of your mind so that might be proven in you what is that perfect and acceptable will of the Lord is. And so we won't be able to do that unless we are transformed unless our hearts are transformed and I thought about the heart and it represents the center of our emotions, thoughts, desires and is our inner command center and I like that. And so I was thinking about the Proverbs 4 and 23 that says keep your heart with all diligence for out of it flows the issues of life.
And so I was looking at that, the issues of life, and it refers to that which determines the direction and quality of our lives. It means that our actions, habits, and our outward circumstances spring forth, ultimately spring forth from what we allow to dwell on the inside of us. In order to be changed agents, we must first be changed. And so I think about the word of God. I love that word talks about the word of God is quick and powerful, sharper than any two-edged sword, is a discerner of the thoughts and the intents of the heart.
And so the word of God is sent to us, and the Holy Spirit is our translator. The Holy Spirit does a work in us. It hovers over that word to do a work in our hearts and causes to us to have new hearts, new desires that are towards the heart and desires of God.
That way, and the pastor talked about the language of God, how he wants us to be those who will be able to speak the language of God. And he also talked about that high priest. You know, he talked and I'll read that later. I'm shut up.
>> [laughter] >> The high priest, um who, um who who could relate to who who could relate to the people, who interceded on behalf of the people for God, and who interceded on the behalf of God for the people.
And I think about you guys might remember that. Remember that time that, uh I think there was a toy drive here.
It was supposed to be a toy drive or something here, and turns out it didn't turn out right. And something happened that the lady didn't have the toys or something. I can't remember what happened. But, anyway, the the place was packed. It was full of people, right?
And they were upset. They were getting angry because uh they were you know, pastor was preaching. They didn't want to hear that. But, they came for the toys. And so, when they found out there was no toys, when what they came for was not the word of God, what they came for was material things, they got angry, frustrated, and I guess some of them didn't have money for the you know, to buy toys for their kids. And so, they were beginning to cause a ruckus in the church. I think the police were called.
I think Rod Benson called when he was here. And so, after that, uh there was one lady from among them, and pastor talked about that high priest, the man from among them to to be for them. And so, she stood up and interceded on behalf of us, on behalf of the church, to the people because she could speak their language.
And so, that's what the Holy Spirit wants to do in us as we are being transformed into the image of Christ. We will speak the language of the kingdom.
>> Amen.
That that's so key, understanding um the role of the Holy Spirit when the word is going forth. And I love what you said also about um He's He's hovering and he's and he's and he's waiting for us to have a yes in our heart. He's waiting for us for to have that that that um that yes to him, that yes to the Lord in order for the Lord to move our heart to change and transform our hearts because he's not going to force his will on us. He's not going to force us to do anything, but he's just waiting on us to get in position. And I love also around how it all begins with God. As we spend time with him in prayer, as we meditate on his word, as we just look to him for guidance and and and direction, he's he's changing our hearts. And a lot of times we can't see it in ourselves, but other people can see it. But as we grow and as we obey to him, as we walk in his word, as we walk in obedience, that that um process is happening, you know, inside of us and our hearts are being changed and transformed. I thought about and I can't get away from um >> [clears throat] >> um it all begins with God. You know, where he kind of reminded us also on Sunday in in Jeremiah chapter 1 and verse 5, he says, "Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you. Before you were born, I sanctified you. I ordained you a prophet to the nation."
And basically God was saying, "I was involved in the entire process.
I was there, you know, before you even came on the scene, before your parents even thought about you." He says, "I formed you, I sanctified you, and I ordained you. I ordained you."
So, when we think about what can what can little old me do? What can I do? And God is saying, "You're not You're not looking far enough in the in the potential that I've placed in you."
>> And when we talk about change, I remember uh one thing that was in the message as well.
Uh is that God wants to take us further than we previously wished to go.
And I had been praying in the past and asking God, "Am I and are we the type people where we get so close to God, we start coming to prayer, and we you know, we've been titheing and we've been serving, and we're all in, but do we say, Okay, that's enough.
I'm a I'm a little bit too close, God.
I'm sensing something is changing.
Okay, I I'm done. I'm good for now.
It's not to say that there's no love in our heart, but we see that God is trying to make that shift. He's changing us.
He's trying to do something in us, and sometimes maybe we're afraid, but we say, "Okay, that's enough for now."
I don't want to be that type person to where I God can't take me where he wants me to go. And if um Pastor said something about obedience, and it brought me back to a time, and this was years ago.
Um and you know, Pastor doesn't beg us to do anything. He wants the heart change, and that we do it out of our love for the Lord. But this particular time, he asked us he told us to go to a conference, the women.
Elder Fran was speaking at the conference, and it was um with Pastor Sandy Ward who just went home to be with the Lord.
And I just went I scraped up my pennies, and I just went just because he said go.
Just to be obedient. I had no desire to go to Holy Spirit. I didn't hear the Holy Spirit telling me to go. I just went to be obedient.
For those of us who went to that conference, God changed our lives.
And God said, "It was just because you were obedient."
I There was things hidden in me. I didn't know, and and I'm going to call it out, but there was a pocket of racism in me that I was completely unaware of.
And I'm always the next morning like, "What happened?" You know, and I'm asking the Holy Spirit, "What happened?"
And the Lord said, "Oh, that was your by blessing."
I blessed you out of obedience by the way. I took care of this, too.
And so, being being this tangent agent and it's going where God has told us to go and it's allowing him to go beyond our our dreams and our aspirations of Lord, I want to do this for you or maybe I want to sing for you or I want to do this and it it's but what is God saying he wants from us?
And the last thing I will say, I've been on my daughter, I've been on Ariana and I kept saying, "Ari, I sense that the Lord wants to take you somewhere. He wants to take you to the next level."
And truly I did. And I'm and I'm just telling her, "I believe he wants to take you to the next level in him. I don't know what that looks like." And I heard the Holy Spirit and I really really will because say the Holy Spirit cuz I can't come up with this.
I heard, "What about you?"
"What about you?" And I thought, "Lord, am I there? Am I at this place where you're ready to take me to a deeper level in you?" And I'm saying, "I don't know."
>> One of the notes from this past Sunday was God has a purpose for each of us and God wants us to be aware of that purpose.
And every now and then, I heard her talk about the heart issue. Every now and then, our heart will get in the way and say, "No, well, maybe not so.
Uh maybe that's not God.
Maybe that's not what you're supposed to do.
Uh you're inadequate. You're you're insufficient. You don't have all the tools and the resources."
All kinds of things will start coming to mind.
But, the good thing about God is God keeps speaking to us.
You remember uh the story of Jonah?
He told Jonah, and the Lord spake unto Jonah, and and Jonah, you know, didn't do what he was supposed to do.
And then the Bible said, "And God spake unto Jonah the second time."
You know, God's going to keep on speaking because he has a purpose for us.
And he wants us to be aware of that purpose. And she spoke about uh the heart issues.
And and pastor quoted the scripture that if our heart, and it will, condemns us, God is what?
Greater.
Than than how this little heart feels.
And so, the bottom line is uh it just behooves us just to do what God has called us to do.
Just be like Isaiah. Okay, Lord, send me. I'm ready. Go. Just send me.
I'll figure it out as I go. Just just send me.
You know, we'll we'll we'll we'll we'll complete the message. We'll put the message together. I'll start it, but you complete it. So, we can't always rely on on this this heart because God is greater than our hearts.
>> One of the things uh that pastor keeps talking about is God is calling us to be a prophetic people. And I was having a little bit of difficulty pin zeroing in on exactly what that meant we're supposed to be doing or what we're supposed to be. And so, I was looking at that, and one thing I read it says prophet pro- prophetic people serve as a conduit to reveal divine truth and give and further a future direction.
They comfort, they encourage, and they guide.
And so, you know, a lot of times people think, like Angel was saying, that prop- the prophetic is all about telling somebody, "Oh, you're going to get a car tomorrow at 12:00. Oh, you're going to marry a man that's got on a blue shirt."
And all of this wild stuff. And that can happen, but but the Holy Spirit always points us to Jesus.
And the prophetic should always point us to Jesus.
And that is the the Holy Spirit is one who points us to Jesus. And so, I think about um the word of God says, "The testimony of Jesus Christ." Let's see.
The testimony of Jesus Christ is the spirit of prophecy. And so, when we think about being a prophetic people, we're declaring the truth of who Christ is. We're declaring the truth of a divine truth about Jesus Christ and the gospel of Jesus Christ. And he also said the the prophet prophecy is the convergence of the past and the present and the future. And the Holy Spirit helps us to reveal to us where Jesus Christ I don't say is. I won't say was, and you know why? Because Jesus Christ is in our past. He's in our past. He's in the present, and he's in the future. And so, people now so many things taking place, and they ask, "What's going on? Where is God? Where is this Jesus you're talking about?" And so that's where we come to by the power of the Holy Spirit reveal to them, explain to them the prophetic word of who Jesus Christ is. He's always where he has been.
And so it helps us to come to more understand the revelation of who Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit is the spirit of revelation. So as we follow the leading and guiding of the Holy Spirit and he leads us and guides us into all truth.
All truth of and sometimes we get a half truth.
And the word of God in Psalms says that the entirety of his word, the entirety of your word oh Lord is truth. And so a lot of times we have points of departure. That's why you have different denominations, different religions, people worshiping different things because of the point of departure, because the Holy Spirit is not there to lead and guide into the all truth, the fullness of truth.
>> Amen, that's good. And you talk about points of departure, I thought about another way of saying that we have we have hurdles or we have stumbling blocks, things that will challenge us. And I thought about if we're truly going to become change agents, one of the things that we have to guard against is the fear of man.
We can't be moved by how we think people are going to respond or what we think people are going to think about us. You know, what are people going to think about me if I say this or say that. And going back to that scripture in Hebrews chapter 5 and verse 1 and I and I looked at the amplified version.
And it says in amplified version, every high priest chosen from among men is appointed to act on behalf of men in the things of God so that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins.
He is able to deal gently with the spiritually ignorant and misguided since he's also subject to human weakness.
And I love how the amplified version calls it um spiritually misinformed.
Right? You You're not ignorant. I'm not I'm not calling you dumb because people get so offended, right? People get so offended.
You just can't go out and call people ignorant. But amplified version said, "No, you're you're spiritually misinformed. So, let me let me enlighten you."
>> One thing um I recorded from my notes on Sunday is a word is given in order to release you into your potential.
And so, as change agents, we we speak what God has first spoken.
Right? And it should, as sister as Minister Marva said, point that person towards Christ. What we say. And so, when we think about um someone reaching their potential, I know that I have told you all this before, but it's something that God has had on my mind all day today. And that was the the dream um he gave me concerning functioning and and serving him.
Let me just divert a little bit. I'm so excited. I know that I am just up here about to jump out my seat because it's what God is doing. It's like how he has joined our hearts and knitted our hearts together. And every time someone says something and then I think about something else the Lord has said and then I did I want to say that, too. But but it's because of what God is doing and what God has done.
And so, we think about uh speaking that word, God speaking that word, and using us to speak a word to someone where that potential is unleashed. And so, the dream that I've told you about before is when um I wasn't serving the Lord, and I felt as though I couldn't serve the Lord. And so, I and I was complaining about everybody that was serving the Lord and and and how some people serve the Lord in multiple ways, and that night God gave me the dream. Uh I thought about you today, Brother Courtland. But, he gave me the dream of of the the football field. And Pastor was the coach down on the field, and he everyone was lined up by him, and they were suited up. They were ready, ready to get in the game, and he would say, "Okay, you go in, and you go in, and you go in." And I said, "Okay, that's good.
Those are the people serving." And then he showed me um he said, "What will not happen? The coach will not leave the game, go out the stadium, [clears throat] down the street, around the corner, upstairs to your apartment, and get you out of bed.
Get in the game.
If you're not serving, then see the excitement that we're feeling right now, and I know the rest of them are feeling it, and those of you in here, too, is because God has called us to to get in the game and to serve him, and we see um how he has knitted our hearts together.
Uh one thing about about Sunday that just blessed me, you know, we're listening to the message, and I often send one of my sisters uh uh uh a little message, but this Sunday my sister Carmel sent me a message, and she said, "Did you hear what he just said?" And I was all I could say was, "Girl, I heard it. I heard it." But, it's because we're so excited about what God is saying and what God is doing. And it's not that we're special or perfect people or got it all together. It's just that we heard God say, "Get in the game."
Amen.
>> I want to read that scripture that uh Elder Fields quoted from Hebrews chapter 5 verse 1 and 2.
Which is which was quoted on Sunday. For every high priest taken from among men is appointed for men in things pertaining to God.
That he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins.
Then verse 2 says he can have compassion on those who are ignorant. That's what Elder Fields was just talking about. Got to be careful.
He can have compassion on those who are ignorant and going astray since he himself is also subject to weakness. So that's why we have to be careful because we could fall in that same position. So Pastor talked about discernment on this past Sunday, right? Discernment. And we all know what discernment is. Some of us have the gift of discernment. So one definition says the ability to perceive. And so sometimes God have to give us uh you know, the ability to kind of check folks out, you know, peep them out because you got to be careful with with with new people who don't understand what you understand. And I often say this, you know, we have to be careful because you know, most of us have been in this thing for 20, 30, 40 years.
And we may be talking to people who know nothing about this.
And so we have to be careful, have the spirit of discernment. The ability to perceive, to understand. We got to understand people.
Where they're coming from. Give them an opportunity to talk and speak and and try to feel them out a little bit. If you let people talk long enough, they'll tell you where they stand.
And then, you can jump right on in there. And the ability to judge situations clearly.
Because here's what Proverbs says, he that winneth souls is what?
>> Wise.
>> Is wise. And so, we're just priests called of God, you know, to be influencers, to persuade other people to come on board. That's all we are.
>> Thank you. One thing about the priest, um I was looking at that and I was looking at the Ezekiel's vi- I did it. Okay. And in his vision, it was Ezekiel chapter 5 verse 9.
And in his vision, he saw 25 men.
And they were standing in the temple with their backs towards the temple.
And so, he was saying and they were gathered. It was a the temple was a place where people get Okay, he talked about the porch.
Okay, and they were standing These men were standing in the temple between the porch and the altar.
The porch represents the place of human reasoning.
It was a place where people gathered for discourse about the meaning of life and the issues of the day.
Even Jesus taught many times at the porch of the temple.
And so, and it talks about the altar, as we know it, was the place where the priest would accept the sacrifices of the people to make atonement for their sins.
And so the priest would weep. And so during this time God is calling us to be intercessors.
And he's stressing prayer.
Intercessory prayer. Intercessory prayer for those who are facing stumbling blocks. Those who are facing stumbling blocks of reason, of intellect, of stumbling blocks that of idolatry. All types of stumbling blocks. And it talks about the porch, the place of reason, where attempts were made to find God in their own way.
Seeking after their own self-righteousness. And so and the altar was the place of mercy and true atonement, which was the altar.
And so God in the scripture talks about we are a royal priesthood, a holy nation.
And we I say I can't remember the rest of that.
But anyway, he talks about how we are to show forth the praises of him who delivered us.
Um Called us out of darkness into his marvelous light. Thank you.
Thank [laughter] you.
I should have brought my Bible, but But anyway, that is one thing that he has called us to be intercessors. That was the main thing that the high priest did. He interceded gave up intercessions for the people.
People that did and that through the Holy Spirit we are called to be intercessors. We are called to intercede for those who don't understand truth, who don't know truth, for those who think God is something other than what he reveals himself to be. And so, that is one of the main and we are equipped and called and ordained and appointed for that as we are being formed. As he talked about that thing of being formed.
And so, I just praise God for for what he's doing for in us and he talked about how we minimize the potential. We minimize what God has placed in us. We minimize what God wants to do to us. So, it threw us. So, my prayer is that God will raise the level of our expectation and that he will increase the capacity within us to receive all that he's saying to us. He is saying much to us and he is calling us to come higher, to come to that high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
>> Amen. That's good. That's good.
And as you was describing it, I thought about something that I wrote in my notebook on Sunday. Um when you was saying we're called to be intercessors for others and I thought about um this thing that pastor he started to say but he didn't finish it. I'm I can't wait to hear the rest of this message. But he was talking about um faith for healing.
Um do we have faith for healing? And I thought about this whole issue of faith and we we all know the definition of faith in Hebrews where it says, "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen."
But do we doubt God when it comes to believing for healing for others? You know, where do we stand on that? And this is this is what I literally wrote down. I said, "One, do we really believe God is who he says he is?
Number two, do do we really believe that he will do what he said he will do?
And then number three, do we believe he wants to use us as change agent in this generation?
So, we can hear a message and we can say, "Okay, God, you know, I'm with you.
I'm saying yes to you and yes to your word."
But, are we really walking in faith in our action, in our respond, on how we respond to others? You're talking about intercession and how we believe God for others.
And I I went to the scripture in John chapter 5 and and verse 5.
And it says, "Now, a certain man was there who had an infirmity for 38 years.
When Jesus saw him lying there, he knew that he already had been in that condition for a long time.
And he said to him, "Do you want to be made well?"
The sick man answered him, "Sir, I have no one to put me in the pool when the water is stirred up, but while I'm coming, another steps in before me."
So, we're all familiar with the scripture in Matthew 5. We talks about I'm sorry, John 5. We talks about how the angel would come and and stir up the waters in the pool and whoever would get in the water first would be healed.
Now, Jesus shows up and he's he says, "I already know your story. You don't have to remind me of how long you had this condition." He said He said, "I already know."
Right? And he he basically asked him, "Do you want to be made well?"
And so, instead of the man responding to Jesus, he responded to his mindset that he had had for 38 years.
He said, "There's no prophet to help me.
There's no one to intercede for me.
There's no one here to help me out."
And says the Lord just healed him anyway. "Take up your bed and walk."
>> Prayer.
I can't be a change agent unless I have a prayer life with the Lord.
A few weeks ago, Minister Tory came up and he held up his three-ring binder with the names of those who he had been praying for, and I just wanted to jump out of my seat. Because when we're on the prayer call every morning, I hear the prayer requests, and I immediately I pray.
So, even if we're not you can't hear our voices audibly, we're praying over those prayer requests. But then there are times when just some things are so heavy, I feel as though I have to write it down. So, when Minister Tory held up his book, his book of faith with all the names in it, I wanted to say, "I got one, too."
>> [laughter] >> And afterwards, and how God is, you know, just just changing how God is has has knitted our hearts together, I ran to one of the other ministers, and I told him I said, "See, this is what I was talking about."
Because the Lord had laid it on my heart to just ask him what his prayer request was, because he was so heavy on my heart. And and he said, "You have got to tell Minister Tory that you're already doing that." And it's And then I found out that there are other people where the prayers are just so heavy, and our our faith is so great that sometimes we just have to write it down, to write down these names. But our faith is great, and I want to be there where it it remains there. Where I'm diligently praying for others and I'm I'm writing those names and I laugh because it's a book a black book and I said well it's not like people used to say that little black book. This is a different little black book. Right? Um and on the cover it says let your request be uh made known to God. And so we we've got to be those change agents where we're praying our faith is there.
We're believing God um to change the lives of others. I am telling you there is someone um in our lives that I've been praying for and I am just I I said Lord I got crazy faith now. I'm not going to let this thing go.
I am not going to let this person uh I can't let him stand before me um and stop praying on his behalf. And so I'm praying that we all have this crazy kind of faith where we're praying for others to be released and and set free and delivered and we're praying with those who are standing in the need of healing and we're praying for those who need a change in their lives. And I I see my elder looking so I'm going to stop right here.
>> So in regard to that scripture that you read at a field uh I heard somebody one time say there's divine intervention and then there's human responsibility.
God will do what he he needs to do what he wants to do.
But then there comes a time where there's a part we play.
And not belittling this person in their situation but I said this one time to myself after 30 some years well you could have rolled over in that pool.
You know sometimes we got to do what we need to do.
You know, you could have just rolled over in that pool.
That low.
So, divine intervention. God did what he's going to do anyway.
Regardless of his you know, the gentleman, but then there's human responsibility as well.
>> I was thinking about the woman who had the issue of blood and how she didn't let the Okay, she was a woman. She was not supposed to be in that room with those with the disciples and Jesus.
Okay, so she overcame.
She had the faith to say, "If I could just touch the hem of his garment." How am I going to do that? Culturally, she was not supposed to be there. She was not supposed to be in that room. She was not There was a lot of things. And then with the the blood and all of that stuff, she would have been considered unclean. And so by the rest of the people being in there, she was not supposed to be in there touching them. And so she overcame by faith.
And I believe that the Lord will give you faith for faith.
And he will give you the ability. He will increase the faith within you as you move, as you go. A lot of times it's as you go. And so I know one one time I was I wanted something and I didn't have the money to get it and I had no way to get it. But I made room for it in my house.
And so as we allow the Lord to make room within us, he will increase our faith.
And we don't look at the situation. We don't look at the empty spot for that thing that the Lord has said that we could have. We don't look at that empty spot. But we see it. We make room for it. We prepare for it. And we make space for it. And we see we walk by faith and not by sight. And so as she touched Jesus, that healing virtue came and and then he said, "Who touched me?" Because he felt the healing virtue going out of him. And then he said, he told her, "Your faith is so great." And so I just believe that as we believe, and this happened with me, my brother, one of my brothers, he was I have four brothers. He was on crack over there on Bankhead Highway. And just, you know, we were taking care of his children and all of this stuff. And so I just kept believing God that he would get saved, that he would get delivered. And so faith is not a feeling. I've learned that. You have to just believe. And the Lord will give you the ability to do that. So he finally, one day, out of the blue, he just got up, cleaned up, and got in the army.
And today he's retired, discharged, has a honorable discharge with the from the army, three children, and doing well. So God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think according to the power that works in us.
>> Amen. That's good. And the Bible also talks about faith without works is dead.
So God is calling us to action. And forgive me. I forgot to mention that in the beginning that this is interactive.
So if you have questions or comments, you know, please uh participate and feel free to come to the mic as we kind of wind down on our time.
Um but I truly believe that that God is raising up change agents in this church and God is calling us to to action. Amen.
>> And um this is probably um the final my final word, but I I knew who I would be up here tonight.
And so I knew they would be scripture heavy.
But I have been so emotional all day. I have been weeping all day long.
And um and then the the Lord took me to my notes that talked about the overflow.
And so my prayer is that the Lord would just fill us up.
That he would empty us of us and fill us with his spirit and take us as far as he desires to take us in him.
Amen.
>> Just something in me, but Angela said something about prayer and I was reading >> [sighs] >> different scriptures today.
And that thing about the spirit of God hovering over the water, the deep. I mean that just stuck with me. It's like I got so many messages out of that one little part, but God just really showed me while we were I was sitting there and I was listening and this thought just kept mulling over.
As God is hovering, his spirit is hovering over our prayer requests, God already knows what he's going to do.
He prompts us to pray the prayer of intercession because he's doing something in us.
So God already sent forth his word to do what he's going to do. It's like the spirit was hovering over water and the Lord spoke.
So, God is already going to speak that thing forth because he put it in our hearts to intercede, but God is doing such a work in us and he's building up our faith so that we can see more of who he is and the pruning that takes place in us, the the the emptiness and surrender that has to occur within us to believe that God is going to hear us, it's it's so much is so many faceted our prayer life.
It's not about us just praying a prayer, it's about being in connection with the Holy Spirit. Um, seeing God do a a marvelous work in the lives of people that we're praying for and situations that we're praying for and God just wants us to walk in the assurance that I'm doing something in you, but it's not about you only, it's about the whole body of Christ because once that prayer is answered, then that person is healed, that situation is taken care of, but then we get to participate in the active, you know, thing that God has done. And so it's like I was sitting up there thinking like the prayers, the check you're changed in the midst of you praying, but then God is already going to do what he said he was going to do. Amen.
>> All minds clear?
I thought about that, you know, we close with that uh saying, all minds are clear.
What if somebody objects and says, "No, we got to stay there until until the air is cleared, you know?"
But thank God everybody agrees. I I I've never heard anybody object. So, we thank you. Thank you, panel. Thank you, Ella Field.
>> [applause] >> Sister Andelus, Sister Marvel, thank you all. Thank you all for coming.
And uh I'm here just to make a plea.
If anybody's here that needs prayer, anybody that's uh contemplating or need help in becoming a Christian. That's what we've been talking about tonight. We're priests, we're ministers, we're change agents. And that's all that we've been talking about. We're here to help you.
So, if there's anybody here or anybody online, you need help, we're here to Uh because all we want to do is just help you to establish a relationship with Jesus Christ.
Amen. Establish a relationship. So, if you're out there online, just put a note in the chat box. Let us know who you are. Give us your telephone number, email address, and we will follow up with you uh to make sure that we help you to get to where we are today. If anybody needs prayer, let us know, raise your hands, we'll pray.
Amen. Just one right here. Go ahead and stand. I want everybody go ahead and stand. Now, I want you to stretch your hands that way.
Amen. Father God, in the name of Jesus, we thank you for this youth, oh God, this young adult who have come to Bible study tonight.
Her heart could have been anywhere else but here, but we thank you for her faithfulness, oh God.
And even in the midst of her faithfulness, oh God, we have challenges. And so, whatever that challenge may be, we pray for her right now in Jesus' name.
Whatever that need be, God, we pray that you'll meet that need in the name of Jesus.
Whatever that situation may be, we pray that you'll fix it, oh God, in the name of Jesus.
And we give you the glory, we give you the honor, and we give you the praise in Jesus name.
Amen. Amen. When God do it, amen, come back and testify to the goodness of God.
Amen.
Amen. Before we go, uh uh we want to uh make an offertorial appeal.
Amen. So, uh if you have an offering, uh they'll put up ways that you can give on the screen.
Um there's envelopes that they have in the back. Uh you can give your offering that way. You can make your offering uh online.
Uh but give as the Lord has prospered you to give.
Thank you all so much. Amen. Let us stand. Let us stand as we're preparing.
Uh also, you can uh Brother Walker's coming with some envelopes.
If you need an envelope, he have those.
And then they'll receive your offering in in the back on the way out.
Amen. Once again, thank you all so much.
Let's continue to lift up uh pastor and first lady uh as they uh travel. We want to pray for traveling grace and also praying that they'll have a uh uh nice rest.
Don't they deserve a nice rest?
Amen. Let's pray for that. So, Father God, we thank you, we give you glory, we give you honor for all that's been said and done here tonight.
Father, we just thank you that you have called us.
We didn't call ourselves.
We wasn't even thinking about Christianity and and becoming influencers and priests and change agents and whatever the titles may be, but God, we thank you for choosing us.
And we just pray that you'll continue to use us for your honor and your glory.
Take us now from this place, but never from your presence. Bring us back together at the appointed time. We ask in Christ's name. Let the church say amen.
