Taking China's $70 Business Class Bullet Train 🇨🇳 (INSANE)追加:
Good morning. Hello. Hello from a very gloomy day here in Janggha, China. Today, me and Eve will be taking quite possibly the best train of our entire lives. We've arrived here at Janggha West Railway Station. And to anyone that's not been to China before, you might be looking at this thinking it looks more like an airport than a train station. And quite frankly, you would be right. Let's show you the inside and uh and get out this cold weather. Let's go.
So when you come into a train station here in China, you have security. So let's just see. It's not very busy, is it? There's nobody here. Absolutely dead.
So this is what the train station looks like in Jang Ja. This is awesome. We've got a load of shops here. Free charging station there, which happens a lot in China. Obviously, a lot of stuff here is done on your phone, so they're incredibly useful. Now, the reason that these places feel so much like an airport is because one, you have security to come in. Two, you're often carrying all your bags, and three, everything is done train ticket wise from your passport. They're very, very efficient. So, you don't get a physical ticket or a separate barcode. You just scan your passport and they'll know what train you're boarding, which makes life so much easier for us. You've just got to remember one thing. Right, Eve? Should we have a look at this checking gate and see if we can see our train? We're here quite early. What time is our train? Uh, our train train's at 1:28, platform 8. So, platform 8. Okay. So, we've got access to a business class lounge with our business class tickets, but it's looking very uh very bare up here. I'm wondering whether we have to go through check-in first. I think it could just be the trains down there, but I'll ask this lady. Let's see. No. Okay. Okay, no worries. Okay, thank you. Okay, so there's no business class lounge, which is a slight disappointment, but not to worry. I think we could grab something from one of these shops over here. Oh, I'm so sad. Our bags down. We got here so early as well. We're like an hour and a half here before our drink. We wanted to use the lounge. Freshly baked cake, which sounds good to me. So, let's see what they've got in here. We've got a menu on the screen. Your classic egg tart.
Oh, mochi. Lots of different bits. Uh, can I get please? Um, one of these and then one of these.
Oh, okay. I picked them up from here. So, we've got different flavors here.
I'll go with this one. That looks good. Yes. Yeah. Um, and that's probably all we need, isn't it?
This how Wow, I can smell these. They've just been freshly baked. freshly baked cakes and they smell delicious. So, I think now I've got these and we'll get a drink to go with it.
So, I've used Google Lens to translate. And I think we're going to go with the yuzu and orange tea. Let's try that. Can I get um this one? [ __ ] Sorry. Oh. Oh, large or medium? Uh, medium. Hot.
Good. Yeah. People in China are so accommodating of the fact that we have so little Chinese. This is so cool. So, she's making my tea right now and she's measuring out little bits and she was just bashing and crushing up some of the ingredients so it's all really, really fresh. And then They come over here and put a lid on it in this machine. We've never been to this place before. I don't know what it's called, but I'm really impressed. Cheers. Thank you. Okay, I've got a drink and a snack. Let's take these back to Bob and try them out. I bring goodies.
What have we got? Oh my lord. This makes me feel a lot better about no lounge. Oh, wow. You got us food as well. Got us a little breakfast. Oh, look. They're like muffins in like muffin uh wrappers. Oh, they're cool. Um they look a bit like a Yorkshire pudding.
Ooh, look at that.
It's a freshly baked cake. Could I? Yeah.
Okay. It's quite eggy. It's got quite like an eggy flavor to it. Eggy, but good. These are pretty good. Yeah, they're they're quite um plain and simple.
I've never ever seen Eve order something like this that looks so milky. Normally, you're like a black coffee drinker or a black like I don't know. This just I thought I was ordering orange and yuzu, which that could be, but um it's a bit difficult with Chinese menu. So, what do you mean? You don't speak You don't speak Mandarin. I can't read Mandarin. Um, but let's try it. Looks good. They made it fresh. Oh, it does look really milky. It looks milky, right? Who knows?
What do you say it was? Orange and yuzu. Yeah, it is. Actually tastes bloody lovely. Oh, really? We were a little put off by the color, weren't we? Yeah. Wrap your lips around that.
That's all right. Oh yeah. Yeah. That is really nice. That's actually really refreshing. Okay, let's go. Oh, wow. I was going to recognize your face as well. Hey time. Okay, platform 8. I believe that's us. I can see the train. Oh, we Oh, we are. We're here, aren't we? Let's uh let's see if we can see the the long nose on the front.
It's awesome. You know, all bullet trains look the same to me. The big nose. Right. So, what what seats are we eating? We are car 8, seat 2 A and 2 C. Okay. Car eight. I have a feeling. I have a feeling it's this one just here. Are we right on the phone? Wow. Just look at that. That is a sleek little number, isn't it? Yeah. Okay, let's see what this is like. God, I'm glad we don't have far to walk.
Uh, thank you.
Oh, look at this. Where these two? Yes. Right. So, we've stuck our bags just behind the seats there. And these are the most epic looking train seats I think I have ever seen. I'm I'm not too sure about the red leather, but uh yeah, these are almost like a little pod. And I believe they should go lie flat as well. You've got so so much room in this place. Look at this. Oh, I think it's so cute as well that we got the only two seats here that are together. And 2 minutes early, we are setting off. Oh my god, we've set off 2 minutes early. Do you know that's very scary for people like me and you because we are usually cutting it very very fine. So, I'm glad we were here on time. That's such a smooth takeoff though, you know. Couldn't even feel it moving. There was no jolt or anything. So smooth. And also, we're the only people in here. We've got we've got a business class a business class carriage on this train, not just the seat. Bye-bye.
Do you have a coffee? Yeah, I have. Oh, can I have coffee? Okay. Look at it. It's such a nice temperature on this train considering it's so cold outside. Oo, we're getting comfy, are we? Well, I am. I'm very comfy today, actually, Bob, because I'm wearing my Halara outfit. I like to wear this on travel days because there's pockets in it. So, I can keep my phone in here and I know where it is at all times. I struggle to find women's clothes with pockets. So, honestly, this is such a lifesaver. Also, this is such a versatile outfit. You guys know we travel with backpacks, so I need to be able to pack light. But this I wear on travel days. I wear when I go to the gym. I wear when I'm out and about. It's honestly so good and really, really comfy as well. Um, should we see what's in our little goodie bags? Yes, let's do that.
Look, this sticker is so cute. It's got a bullet train. A little bullet train. So, let's see what's in our little goodie bag. Wow, it's really packed full in here. Oh my god, there's so many so many things. Okay, first up, mixed beans and nuts. Okay, not seen them before. This is I have no idea, but that's interesting. I like trying the Chinese snacks. Okay. Yeah, we need to get more on board with these. We've not actually seen most of this before. Raisins. Okay. Standard. Again, I don't know what these are, but I'm really looking forward to trying all these different Oh my god, these are like dashen. I don't know. They're like little balls or something. And two more. Amazing.
Right. What should we try first? Oh my god. This is Should we try these ones that I had no idea?
Yeah. Yeah. I think we try I think we tried these. I think we tried little balls. Little balls. Also, the very nice lady looking after us who feels kind of like a little private VIP service gave us this.
Now, this is Chinese Coca-Cola. I have never seen Coca-Cola that does not have our normal English alphabet on there. Wow. Look at that. That is It's just incredible. Anybody that's thinking of coming to China, let this be your sign. This country is just insanely beautiful. Especially taking trains to get around the place, you just get these incredible incredible views. But going back to my coke, uh yeah. Have you Have you ever seen that before? This? No, I haven't. But I've also not been in China, so Okay, let's try one of these little things. Oh, it's sweet. I don't know if it's like sugar. Oh, I thought it looked like a pork scratchy type thing. No, it's not. Okay.
Oh, it's like um it's like a really hard cookie. Yeah. Almost. Sweet biscuit. This is good though.
This is really good. I'll definitely eat them. Should we try something else? Yeah. Should we try this one with the with the angry cow on? Yeah. Okay. I do love trying snacks from Oh, this is going to be like beef jerky or something, isn't it? Oh, your your worst nightmare. That's not going to be me for me. There you go. Oh, well, I'm trying this. Yeah, I think it is some sort of uh some sort of meat.
Just be glad it was me that ate that. Not I knew I wouldn't like this. It actually smells really good. It smells like barbecue. There's a test you can do to see how smooth the bullet train is where you put a coin on the edge of the window. So, that is what we're going to do now.
That doesn't move at all. Look at that. So smooth. And look at those. Oh, and the views are incredible views. That coin has not moved at all. That's how smooth it is. This is a really smooth train. Yeah. Do you know compared to some trains in the UK, you're getting like thrown around all wobbly, but this is just it's so slick, silky. I'm almost I'm just mind blown by this. It's still here, by the way. This coin, it's just it's still going. It's now 232. So, let's see. The main reason we booked this class of train is because they may look like little eggs, but I believe these seats go fully lie flat. So, we're going to give it a go. You get given quite a long cushion. This I can only assume is for your phone, which I think is incredibly useful with the fact that these chairs slide up and down. I think that losing your phone down the side of the seat would be a very big problem. So, that's good. You've got here your controls for moving the seats, which we'll look at in a minute. Uh, look, we've got power supply here, which is good.
I think we've just got one of them between two. I'm going to assume that's my number. Oh, we're uh we're off, Eve. We're off. Oh my god. This is a whole process. Let's see how long it takes me to get fully laid flat. Oh, you know, just imagine imagine doing every train journey like this. It would change your life. I think this would be really good if you had like a long train like 8 hours. You could get like a proper good night's sleep on this. Oh my god, it goes further. This is proper lay flat. Wow. Surely it can't go any further. Do you know I actually fit on the whole thing as well. My legs don't have Oh my god. You only just fit in the frame. Wow. Wow. This looks I tell you what, guys. It's actually quite comfy as well. I've got I've got a little reading light here. Look at that. There you go. This superb. I've got a little enclosed roof on the top of my head. And this is my view. Look at that. Oh, I'm kind of glad we only have ourselves in here, Eve.
It's like a little private I could I feel like I could have a little sleep in here if I really wanted to. You could definitely sleep in one of these. This would be amazing. Yeah. So this uh this train journey to Chongqing is actually only 2 and 1/2 hours, but like Eve said, if you had a longer one, I mean, China is an absolutely huge country. If you had a train journey that was like, you know, 10, 11, 12 hours, this would be perfect. I wanted I wanted to join you. I was feeling quite left out. Yeah. So, but there's three buttons and I've gone with the middle one, which is kind of like laidback but not flat. Do you know? I can't help but look at the look at you doing that and thinking that you look like a little old woman in like one of those robotic armchairs to to assist them getting up. Oh, this is well comfy. Yeah, look at that. Oh, I I'll just be here for the next 2 hours. Traveling fulltime means we're constantly on the move. Like today, taking the train in China. This means different climates, different activities, and always packing light. Finding clothes that keep up with this lifestyle has been a mission. But as you guys know, I love to wear Halara, who are the sponsor of today's video. Halara's whole philosophy is about ease, feeling comfortable, confident, and completely yourself wherever you are. And that is exactly what I need.
I wear their yoga tops, leggings, and shorts for workouts, lounging, and of course, travel days.
But what I love the absolute most is the leggings and shorts have pockets. Finally, somewhere to put my keys and my phone, so I don't need to take a bag when I go to the gym or worry where my phone is while I'm on the move. They're comfy to wear because the fabric is soft, stretchy, breathable, and not see-through. And with the tummy control feature, it holds up whether I'm out exploring or just working at my laptop. Plus, Halara clothing comes in a load of colors with a really inclusive size range. All the items I wear are linked in the description down below. If you're looking for top quality products at a fair price, then try Halara and use our code BF20 for 20% off full priced items. We've just pulled into a station now. And if I'd wanted to, I could have ordered food to be delivered here to my seat on the train. I'll show you how. We were actually a bit slow, so we missed the cut off point. But basically, you have these QR codes on here. As with everything else in China, you get Alip Pay up. Scan it on Alip Pay and it it shows you lots of stuff on here. You can see like your journey, what time you get into what stations, all of that. But the the key thing with the food is that if you go along here online food ordering, right, it gives you all the options for the different foods you can order. I just this is blowing my mind. You can order on a moving train food. It's crazy, isn't it? Like this this one will be off the train after we get here. So, we can't look. You can literally order McDonald's to a specific seat on a specific carriage on a train that is moving. That is mental. I can't get over this. And I'm actually I'm really sad that we can't do this because I just think that would have been mindblowing. You have to order it. It's like an hour in advance to when you get in at least. So yeah, but this is honestly it's the is this the future? I know. Do you know what I was going to say? Imagine if we had this on trains in the UK.
I feel like our trains don't really go far enough. Maybe. I mean, I don't know. Things just work in China. Like things just work smoothly and easily. I feel like in the UK people would be like this can't be done. Yeah, but you know, China, here we are. All you need is a barcode. Bloody barcode.
If you see a barcode anywhere, just scan it. See what happens. Time for a coin update. It's still here. It has hardly moved at all. And it's now, let me tell you the time, 53 minutes past. So, it's like 20 minutes later. And this little coin is still here. If it's moved at all, I think it's when we got up out of the seats and back in the seats. Right. So, I'm going to tell you exactly how much we paid for these train tickets. So, per ticket, they were £83. So, we paid £166 for us both to do a 2hour train journey, Janggha to Chongqing in business class. To put that into perspective, if me and Eve flew business class between those two cities, instead of £83 a ticket, it would have cost £350 a ticket. So big big savings and I would argue the service and you know the the actual experience is very very similar. Yeah, it's better to take a train. The train is good. The train is really good. Wow. But the economy class tickets were about 20 poundish, maybe like £23. So it's a lot cheaper to go economy. You don't get to lie flat on the bench.
So it's almost four times more expensive to go business class than economy. And one thing that's interesting with China in terms of the train class system, you actually have premier class, which is the first class, and then business class on top of that. So it goes economy. Yeah. First class, business class. Whereas when you were to fly, it would be the other way around. It would go business and then first would be like the top top. Yeah. That's weird. And also, so we tried to get these tickets and they all sold out, but then we looked again like a week later and there was tickets available. So if you're wanting to do one of these trains, like just stick with it and keep looking for the tickets. Just keep looking at the tickets. Yeah. I think they just sort of come come and go. Yeah. I mean, we were heartbroken when we found out we couldn't get a business class train.
We were like, but we've heard so much about them. So, uh, yeah, keep checking and you'll be able to get one eventually, I'm sure. The coin, it fell down. I don't know when it was going so well.
Do you know, I would say as well, it was a pound coin, so it is actually quite a thick coin. So, maybe it's not quite as smooth as what we were led to believe. Wait, what's the time? So, it's 10 3. So, it was up for like half an hour or like 40 minutes. It's still good, you know. Wow. Look at that bridge behind you. Luxury aside, this is obviously a bullet train, so it's very fast. The top speed of bullet trains in China is 350 km per hour. At the minute, the speed is going up and up.
We're on 283 km per hour. So, let's see if we make it to the top speed. We stop at a few stations, so we'll find out. Let's see what the toilets look like on a business class bullet train.
Toilets. Uh, okay.
Okay. Well, I think I surprised them coming out of there. So, it looks like a pretty standard train toilet here. I mean, I've been on trains in the past where you actually get a different level of toilet, a separate toilet from kind of the economy class, but this looks like it's shared. So, it's very standard toilet, air freshener, soap, sink, you know, nothing nothing too glamorous really.
Let's have a look at what amenities you get on this train. So, there's some slippers in here. Nice. And then there's also what are these? These are nice. Oh, this is like a like a towel. Like a like a wet towel. These I think are eye masks. Yeah, that's an Yeah. Yeah, that's definitely an eye mask. Cute. So, you could uh you could get some really good sleep on here.
You could sleep like a baby on this thing. I wish I could stay here for longer. Yeah. You wish you could have this on a flight. Oh, Chance would be a fine thing. I feel like we're leveling up slowly.
We'll uh I'll just go go to sleep now and dream that I can do this on a flight one day. A Yeah.
Right, it's time to say goodbye to this train coming into Chongqing. Now, we're really excited to see the railway station at Chongqing because it's less than a year old and it's the largest high-speed rail hub in the world. So, I think it's going to be pretty crazy.
Yeah. And what a way to arrive. I mean, we are literally arriving in style here. Look at this.
Well, uh, I don't think Eve's going to be too happy looking at the weather when she comes back because it looks colder and wetter than where we've just come from. So, Eve, it looks nice and sunny in Chongqing.
Oh dear. We have arrived at Chongqing. there. Thank you. Wow, we have arrived. Chongqing, baby.
Oh, I can't believe we're here. We've waited to be here for so long, and we finally made it. Wow, look at this station. This is incredible. It's so uh it's like brand spanking new, isn't it? It is new, but you know, like it's really new. One thing I do think is pretty joke, how everybody buns a sigy, stands off the train, smokes a sig for like a minute, 2 minutes, and then jumps back on the train. Have you noticed that? Very China. Very China. There's just a group of people smoking as soon as we get off. So, everyone's going down here, but I can see behind there there's a sign that says transfer. So, I think I think it's the transfer that will take us up into the station, but we'll see. Let's let's go down and have a look. Oh, okay. Well, it is looking extremely swanky here. I love these lights. These actually remind me, you know, when you go to a cinema and you get a cinema room. This is the kind of vibe this gives me. But number 29, that's got to be like the 29th platform. So, it's a big place. How nice is this? This is just little bit about Oh, is it uh Oh, yeah. It's actual 3D. Look at that. Really nice. So, we've got the exit gates here, which we're going to need our passport for, but hopefully we're still within the station when we get through. So, on the way here, we had to go through a manual person. But here, it looks like there might be auto gate. Shall we try? Oh, it worked. Well, there you go. So this is the newest the newest highspeed hub. So convenient and easy honestly. So it is absolutely huge. We've got up here you've got a longd distanceance bus normal bus over here. Looks like you can get the metro. See line 6 24 27. So it really is a hub by the looks of it. Do you know I love the reflection of the lights on the actual uh on the actual floor. I just want to poke my head over this and see what this is cuz this looks like it could be quite interesting. Again, just like an airport, we've got the big departure gate. And wow. Yeah, it's uh it's all looking clean and swanky. I feel like we don't quite get the the sheer scale of it here, but this is actually 1.2 million square m big. So, it's uh it's fat. It's huge. If you're coming here to get a train, you probably want to budget quite a bit of time in. Yeah. If you came in one entrance and your platform was like number 99 or something right down the other end of the station, you might get stuck.
Welcome to Chongqing, Eve. This has been a great journey to get here to Chongqing. I am so excited to be here. But we're going to leave this video here for now. Make sure you check out the rest of our China content and please give us a like and subscribe and we'll see you next time. Bye.
