Rapid Review: APEX (Netflix)

[00:00:00]Hello everybody, welcome back. Well, I wanted to give you um a rapid review, quick review for the brand new Netflix action thriller that has just been released, Apex. Okay, so the film's directed by Baltasar Corumakur, and I'm sure I've pronounced that incorrectly, and it stars Charlie Theron and Taran Editton. Uh Charlie Saran's character Sasha is um she's like an adrenaline junkie, mountain climber. Um she likes excitement, adventure.

[00:00:35]Um and early in the film, she's climbing a mountain with her partner by Eric Banner. Uh there is a tragedy that takes place. Um and then several months later, she tries to reboot herself. She goes to Australia. Um, she wants to kind of, you know, experience Australia, experience, you know, the the outback and the bush and do some extreme sporting. And she runs into Taran Edgutton's character, Ben, who initially seems friendly. Uh, but it turns out he absolutely isn't.

[00:01:05]And he is um a homicidal maniac stroke serial killer who um uses Sasha as a sport. He hunts her basically. He gives her a little bit of a head start. got a crossbow and he intends to hunt her down. So, it becomes a cat and mouse game from that point on. She has to try and stay alive. Um, and he has to complete his ritual uh which includes um well, killing consuming her, right?

[00:01:34]So, the film I think is you know really good, much better um than you would possibly imagine. Um Chalice Theron is always reliable in these movies. I think she is the premier and I've said this before, the premiier female action star.

[00:01:50]Um, she throws herself into this film completely in regards to the physicality of it. Um, and gives another incredibly solid performance.

[00:02:01]And Taran Edgutton, you know, is very close to stealing the film with his uh manic over-the-top uh unhinged performance of Ben. Um who is a very very deranged individual. Um and it makes a really really fantastic dynamic with these two kind of um going at each other, you know, trying to get the upper hand. Uh, and it's got some genuine standouts, standout moments, some thrilling moments, and it's actually a film I really enjoyed, and I think uh, you should probably check it out on Netflix right now. Um, it's a really solid um, action thriller with some fine moments in it. So, don't miss out on this one, guys. I'll see you on the next video.
