Akainu Will Destroy EVERYTHING.Added:
30 chapters. That's all it took for Akinu to ravage One Piece. He killed Ace, the Pirate King's son, completely broke Luffy's will, the only one to ever do that, and finally use this mountain of blood to become the mightiest man in the Marines. All this was in the name of justice. That is absolutely horrifying.
But does that equal evil? Today I wanted to go through a Kynu's character completely, breaking down his quick introduction to his role as the perfect soldier with the volcanic role before we answer the question at the very end. Is he truly evil? Thank you for watching and of course I hope you enjoy.
This is Admiral Akinu as a child despite becoming a man properly dressed and with not one weak bone in his body. Here he looks distressed, disheveled, and small.
All I can say is it looks like he had it rough. Whatever evils and tragedies of the world you can think of, he probably faced him at this young age. Without a doubt, shaping him into the man we later see. Eventually, he found his way to the Marines. Him first appearing in our story only in name with Robin. Context is needed. And so we begin with the scene where Robin is shocked to the point of falling. An admiral has appeared in front of her. The rank is explained. There is only three in the government who hold it and they're all immensely powerful. Today's star, a Kynu, is one of them. This immediately introduces him in a scary way. He's called an ultimate military force, and it's not helped by Robin's distress.
She's horrified. Akynu is someone to fear beyond belief. Funny enough, Akynu then appears in her backstory where the government is rounding up everyone who calls themselves a scholar before killing them. It's horrible, but it's an order that's handed down by the world government. They research the void century, a time period the government is long covered up. Therefore, they must die. In the chaos of this, a ship is blown up. a ship carrying people evacuating. It's revealed the one who made this order is none other than Sakazuki, futural admiral of Kau. All he states is that if you're going to do it, finish the job. If even one scholar is hiding, all will be for not. You must destroy evil at its roots. Just from two penalties in, we get so much information. 20 years ago, even as a vice admiral, Akaidu was strong, scary, and thinking with the mind of justice.
While beyond harsh to the government's perspective, Akynu here is a perfect soldier. He made a big call for no reason other than the greater good of the government. He didn't care how it would make him look. He just did it because that's what the government would want. If the government says these people are evil, then they must be destroyed at their very roots. And this was him 20 years ago. I mean, think of him now. Though, through this backstory, we also get a look at another 2B admiral, Aiji. One who would become essential to Aku's story. Immediately, the clash between them is clear. As Aiji thinks Akinu's actions were too far, justice can turn people mad. He allows the very thing a Kynu tried to stop go free, though noting if she became a problem, he would be the first thing to end it. Where Kynu acted instantly with red-hot justice, Akiji reacted with cool, calm justice. The clash between these characters is set up hundreds of chapters before it even happens. And it all revolves around their justice.
Meaning we should pay attention to Kaou and his justice as we head into the next event, the Marine Ford War.
The government has gotten their hands on Ace, a huge pirate they're set to execute right at their base. Not only does Ace have a big name in the pirate world, being a commander of the Emperor Whitebeard, but he is the son of pirate king Gold Roger, the one who began the great age of piracy. If you were a marine through and through, you will do everything in your power to make this pirates's head roll. And so, of course, this becomes a big event for Akynu as he's without a doubt the admiral that has the biggest impact in this arc.
Akynu sits next to the execution platform, guarding it attentively as a statement of power. If they come close, he will reign hell upon them. But who's going to come? Well, of course, the Whitebeard pirates to save Ace, beginning the Marine Ford War.
Whitebeard, crowned with the title of the strongest man in the world, one with the power that can destroy the world, begins to cause all sorts of havoc.
Every person springs into action, even the admirals. How jumping into the sky to freeze the battlefield. Kizaru attacking directly at the speed of light. And the second an iceberg is dropped from the sky, the kind who stands shooting a fist of magma to destroy it completely. The flaming rocks scattering across the battlefield like heavy hail. As an onlooker describes, it's a scene that resembles the end of the world. Interestingly enough though, the Kynu still has not left the execution stand. He caused all that chaos without moving. The intent is then stated, who will defend the position?
who will defend the platform housing Ace as he's meant to resemble the perfect soldier. Akinu refuses to leave the execution platform defining what this war is. No matter what, there is no objective other than victory and executing Ace is victory. So he sits there to embody that at the beginning of this war. Though as each side begins to have victories and defeats, morale goes up and down. Akynu moves into action and immediately his action is very different. In a back alley, Akynu confronts a deserting soldier. One who is scared with the family and wants to flee for his life. Akynu simply states, "If he cares for his family, then die an honorable death all before killing him."
And again, Akynu is presented as a perfect soldier for the government. To him, deserting is disgrace. Death in war as a marine is honorable because you fought to the end for your cause. He is continuously showing himself to be a marine with red-hot justice. What the world government says is exactly what goes. No matter what, he will follow those ideals perfectly. There is no excuse. Akai's next move rears its head as Whitebeard is betrayed by one of his allies. The man was told Whitebeard made a deal with the Marines to save his and Ace's skin. This is tacked upon the man's own trauma. His own crew was wiped out by Roger. He hated him. Why was he never told Ace was his son? It's revealed it was of course none other than Akinu who told him. It was a power play to get a head-on morale. After all, if Whitebeard is believed to be scheming against his own, why would his allies want to help him in this war? Though, nobody expected Whitebeard's unyielding love for his family. He holds the man who betrayed him. He loves his children the most, no matter what. This has backfired. The kind who simply gave Whitebeard a moment to show his followers why exactly they're here. The commodery between them. And so, it just gets everyone more fired up than ever.
This scheming plan may make a Kynu seem weak in some way. But matter of fact, I think it shows him to be calculating and stronger to an almost scary degree. In a war like this where 200 battles happen in one moment, the one who thinks harder than others will get an up. And that is simply what Akinu has tried to do. It's also clear he looked into who he's fighting as he specifically chose the man who would have grudges against Whitebeard. Everything in this moment was particular and that is scary. It's calculated, very aware of the situation and without a doubt smart. Also, this scene shows a Kynu to be a man with no respect for who he fights. And I mean, why would he have respect for those he fights if they're all pirates? He is the ideal soldier. The Marines are meant to fight against pirates. And so, he gives him no respect. He is simply doing his job. Anything is on the table as long as he does that job. And with this, Akynu begins to show off his powers in the most terrifying way possible, covering the sky in magma and raining it down in giant cannonballs of hell. It's like meteors all across the battlefield.
Akinu is fierce in the way he uses this power, instantly targeting Whitebeard's ship that he rode in on. Again, a tactic of morale. That was a sign of Whitebeard. Now it's been reduced to ash by a marine soldier. Luffy then springs to the execution platform, landing right in front of the admirals, a kind notably calling Luffy the son of dragon. More proof, he keeps big tabs on pirates.
He's literally a dream soldier. Like he even studies the targets. Though of course, Akinu would want Luffy gone instantly as he is the son of a criminal causing the government the most harm, the biggest criminal. And the hatred of that in itself will be extensively shown soon. Seriously, this dude hates Luffy.
Luffy is promptly kicked back down and Akynu begins his clash with Whitebeard where the second the elderly legend gets sick, aka shows no respect and strikes, delivering a heavy blow that makes a hole in Whitebeard's chest. He then allows numerous marines to attack, intending to bring Whitebeard down no matter what. Whitebeard is the ultimate enemy, and a Kynu is the perfect soldier. They'll dogpile him. They don't care. Respect has no place on the battlefield for him. He is there to get the job done and nothing more. Ace is then freed by Luffy, bringing the war to its climax. If Ace escapes, the government loses. A fact a Kynu refuses to face instantly. Akynu begins to chase Ace. And like he has done for others, it would appear he's looked into Ace and noted ways to make him tick. He calls the Whitebeard pirates cowards, all before calling Whitebeard a loser. Ace instantly stops. Whitebeard is everything to him. And so Akinu, noting that his tactic is working, continues.
Ace's father, Roger, who he hates, stood in Whitebeard's way. He is a loser for this, and all his crew does is put on a farce that they're a happy family. He calls Whitebeard a failure, burning hot with magma as he excitedly explains this will be a fitting end for human trash as he calls him, leading Ace to become fired up with his own flames. They dash forward and clash, though Magma will always burn hotter than fire. Ace is hurt. Akynu then describes he and Luffy's families clearly having looked deep into both. They are threats to the world. And so he dashes in to end Luffy.
But Ace jumps before him, taking Akynu's full force punch to the back. It's an execution. Akynu knows it's been finished. And so his next goal is to attack a broken Luffy. No care for the fact he just took the life of his brother. To Kynu as a perfect soldier, Luffy is a pirate, one who is related to other insane criminals. He simply needs to go. And here I want to make clear a Kynu is not only a guy doing his job, but a guy who seems to believe in what he's doing beyond himself. He seems fully willing to die here, to go to the end of the earth after these people, even if it gets him killed or injured in some way. All because he believes in this government and their justice. By all definitions, the war here was won.
Ace was killed, Whitebeard was killed, and the rest of the pirates were all on the back end. and they were fleeing. It is victory in every way. The Kynu could have stayed down arrested, but he got back up and continued to do things to define the justice he believes in. Not necessarily for himself, but for the government. He is in every way a perfect soldier. It's then Akaido is hit by Whitebeard. He's earthquake to the floor before he stands, blasts apart part of Whitebeard's face, and is qu to the side. A blow that splits Marine Ford in half. Still, Akinu later stands. He is beyond strong. Having survived what would be a death sentence for 99% of people. He's pretty injured. Yet, he pursues Luffy. The next biggest threat for the government in his mind. Au tells Jinbei to drop Luffy while walking forward is a pit of lava. He refuses and Akinu dashes forward attacking, leaving a hole in Jinbe's side and scorching Luffy's chest. They got lucky, but Aku is determined, willing to stand up to all remaining Whitebeard pirates who protect him. Despite his injuries and clearly weakening state, he continues to strike down the evil pirates as he calls them. Though, this is when a young marine Kobe stops him. Kobe can see that the war is over. Ace has died and Whitebeard is gone. Anything else is just a waste of life. They've won though. Aka instantly rejects this notion. If they are the pirate, if they are outside of what the government deems right, they can go no matter what happens. Kobe rejects this idea, then he has no place in the government. He brings his magma fist down, yet his blow is stopped by none other than Shanks.
This shocks the Kynu. He ends his pursuit instantly. This is a whole different ballpark of a battle. Shanks ends the war with this presence all as Luffy is allowed to escape, leaving a Kynu angry as the scene closes.
And in only about 30 chapters, that was our red-hot introduction to Aku, a character that is desecrated this story really fast. Without a doubt, he's a shining star of a marine, ravaging the pirating world by executing the pirate king's child. He broke Luffy as well.
The only time this has ever happened in the series, all as he non-stop attacked, schemed against, and even contributed to killing the Whitebeard pirates. He was set on winning a war that would change the world and did so perfectly. Though that without a doubt makes Akyno a horrifying villain, right? Well, no.
Right now, Akynu is horrifying, but he's not necessarily a villain, rather an antagonist. In the One Piece world, he is a speeding image of the government's justice. Justice that goes extremely against Luffy, hence the antagonist label. He is meant to be the culmination of this idea, the group or enemy that is against Luffy just by Luffy's existence.
Being the perfect image of all that, being the perfect soldier for the government is what makes a Kynu scary because he is directly against Luffy.
And it's all for a justice he believes in more than anything. A justice he believes in more than himself. He has no qualms with being a bad guy who kills fleeing Marines. As the justice disavows that pirates get no respect as their existence goes against the justice.
perhaps his most horrific act, blowing up an evacuating ship. It's to see a mission through for the justice. Though, of course, we ask why. Why believe in the government's justice this much? And I think if we return to that one drawing of a Kynu as a child, well, it makes sense. His childhood seems to have sucked. And it was probably seeing how he's become all because of criminals and pirates. I mean, he doesn't hide the fact he hates them. a kind hates pirates more than anything, unlawful evil more than anything. In matter of fact, he gives us a line while shouting at Ace that tells us everything. People who live outside of the law are worthless.
Pirates who do that exact thing are worthless and therefore they do not deserve such a happy home. It's exactly why Whitebeard is such a loser in his eyes and why he took so much time insulting him before Ace. Not only was Akynu provoking his target, but his soul was burning red with anger over what he represents. Akynu, simply put, believes in the government's justice more than anything else. He is the perfect soldier for the Marines to show us, the reader, exactly what the government's justice looks like and what it should be. All of One Piece is seen through Luffy's eyes.
Seen through the one who truly embodies what a pirate is meant to be. freedom to do whatever you want on the sea. And so, the one that truly embodies a marine, a Kynu, is naturally going to be one of his most horrifying threats. This makes it oddly fitting to have a Kynu be the only one to break Luffy's will, as he is the most perfect counter to everything he resembles. Though, at the same time, it's a Kynu representing his own beliefs. That belief being that justice, what the government says is justice, is the only right thing in the world. And so, does that make him evil? I guess we'll have to keep going to find out.
After the war, Akynu is seen perfectly enough on a burning island, one the Blackbeard pirates just fled from. It would seem he was trying to nip this bud before it could bloom. But in the background of this, gears are turning.
Flee Admiral Sang Goku steps down, meaning an admiral is meant to take his place. He personally recommends Aokiji.
Though two years later, through Jinbei, we learn it wasn't as simple as a recommendation. Aiji was propped up and supported because of his cool justice.
Judging situations by circumstance rather than strictly, while Akinu was supported and pushed strongly by the government itself for his red-hot justice, judging situations by law no matter what. This led to a huge fight, a duel to the death, fire versus ice, justice versus justice. Winner would command the navy. The battle raged on for 10 days, not stopping till was the winner. And funny enough, when the Straw Hats head for Punk Hazard, we hear this is exactly where the battle happened.
The battle was so insane, the island is covered in volcanoes, icy peaks, and neverending fire and freeze. It changed the part of the world down to the climate, which is just insane. It's then told how a kind has grown the government to be more powerful and determined than ever before. And we see this exactly with new Marine Ford, the Marines new HQ. This is a glorious building showcasing a Kynu's justice perfectly.
It's powerful like he without a doubt believes the government should be.
Though our first appearance of a Kynu after the time skip is when he mobilizes Fuji toward Address Rosa, revealing after he and Eliji's admiral spots were left, he worked quickly to fill them.
The other admiral being Greenbull. As of now, Fujito has proved himself to be a pretty good pick for the government. A Green Bull, well, he's done like three things and none of them have been that cool. So, yeah. Also, Akynu from here on out is going to be shown non-stop chain smoking. So, like, yeah, I guess the stress of being a fleet admiral is really getting to him. Pretty funny way to show it. In Dre, the Doflamingo shocks the world, making the government's warlord system look like absolute garbage. This, of course, reflecting horrible on a Kynu, a thing that makes him incredibly angry. Also, yeah, him and Akiji really fought. Like this dude is apparently all scarred up across his body. And like if we're going by his neck here, then yeah. This situation results in basically a shouting match between him and the elders, reaching a boiling point when it's revealed Doflamingo has been beaten by Luffy of all people, the one Au failed to kill. Yeah, Red with anger is putting it lightly. He reigns hell upon Fujitora. The reason being that he's caused their justice to lose face, which makes a lot of sense. Justice is absolute to Akinu and Fujitora just allowed a government system to look bad because of his own beliefs. And these types of moments, anger specifically, become the Akinu special from here on out. As we know, the world is becoming more and more unstable and him wanting to keep absolute justice. Well, it's not going right and he continues to build anger as a result. Au continues to receive reports of Luffy's happenings that silently stress him. stress that leads to explosive outbursts as he hears about the government's issues. Also, Fujito has stepped foot in marine territory since messing up. Of course, he's still an admiral, but he was told not to do that. So, what do you think a Kynu responds with? It's anger.
Explosive anger. The warlords are then disbanded. The world's power shifts even more so as big events like Big Mom and Kaido teaming up happen. He's angry.
Things just keep happening under his watch. The story here continues to move at a rapid pace. And with events like Blackbeard and Law clashing, he's seen truly reaching a boiling point. And here I want you to understand, as Fleet Admiral, a Kynu doesn't have it out for one set person, but rather anyone who threatens the government's justice.
Keeping the government's justice strong is a Kynu. He is their perfect soldier, enforcing their justice and law to a tea. And so, well, it doesn't reflect good on that if the world is covered in governmentdefying chaos. Kaido and Big Mom fall to Luffy, Law, and Kid.
Blackbeard begins to get on the move.
Crosskill, the huge organization, is created. The revolutionaries begin to up the ante. And even Shanks, the longest standing emperor, is finally moving with purpose. Au is constantly shown around these events to show the government is losing everything. The justice he puts above even himself he believes in before anything is weakening and his anger is meant to reflect that very fact in the most extreme way. I think Oda's plan for this character is very clear. The pirates we see in every chapter get more and more extreme. They affect the world more and more leading to a very bad reflection on the government that makes a kynu angrier and angrier. Akynu is being built up as a volcano that is going to explode in the final war. We're not going to see much action from him till then because he's going to have one huge moment where he goes all out. Like Marine Ford, he goes all out in the name of justice. Egghehead is the government's biggest failure yet. As put by a Kynu, Bapunk is basically declared war on them. and Luffy, a huge stamp against their justice, has appeared right in the middle. Still, he demands Luchi wait. There is a protocol for these things. Keep in mind, Luffy is now an emperor. These situations are without a doubt dealt with by the government very specifically. Doing things by the book, by the laws, and by the justice is very important to Kynu. But Luchi doesn't listen to that at all. The fact that I can literally guarantee made a Kynu incredibly angry. Everything that has happened under his lead only leads to more mistakes and a worse image for their justice. What remains Akuma then appears to attack and Akynu is the one who steps up to the plate. He emphasizes that it's one thing after another. Every event is clearly piling upon him before attacking with his magma. Yakuma teleports away. Another big mark on a Kouch record. Egghhead then ends in the most horrifying loss for the government.
Vega Punk's broadcasters revealed numerous secrets they wanted to keep secret. Not only this though, but it's encouraged search for the One Piece. And it's yet another big event that has made bigname pirates look even stronger. If everything before this was big, then this is just the end point for a Kynu.
The government is truly being made to be fools. Their justice is being desecrated. and is the current head of it all? Well, Akynu needs the answer.
I truly believe considering the final war is without a doubt happening soon in One Piece. A Kynu is building anger, building up magma, you could say, to explode like a vicious volcano in that final war. He's going to do it to demonstrate his absolute justice like he always has. He is the perfect soldier.
Akynu hasn't changed at all since we first seen him 20 or so years ago, but rather the world is. And the world is pushing back and weakening the government, destroying their image of justice. His role as a character representing all of this is to boil with anger as he watches it happen, get angrier and angrier before he explodes like a volcano. Hence the imagery with his magma fruit. In the final war, he's going to ruthlessly act in the name of justice as he did in Marine Ford. I love this choice so much because just think about it for a second, please. If Akinu was acting as mighty and was shown to be that strong, every time something happened, if he's shown to be just as strong as he was in Marine Ford when something happens, well, then we would just start to get used to him and he wouldn't be that surprising anymore. Au is an antagonist that has touched maybe 50 or so chapters. Despite that, I think I speak for all of us when I say we remember him. We remember him in a big way for his horrifying actions. We remember him for his strict ideals and how much of an impact he had on the war with his beyond strong powers. He is memorable because he goes against pirates in the way the government intends. He is the perfect soldier down to a tea in a pirate story. Where pirates are free, a kynu resembles a system that goes by the book and the book states pirates must be executed.
Therefore, a Kynu is executing that pirate. That is his justice. A justice he will do anything to execute. A Kynu is justice done in the most horrifying way possible. He's not entirely bad, but he's not entirely good. I think you can actually just sit there all day and talk about the morality behind him. But I think that's also pretty counterintuitive. It's a very big point in so many One Piece related situations that things are not black and white in this world. Akynu is proof of this.
Absolute justice can involve bad things.
The government's justice can be cruel, but by definitions, by the world, it is right. At the same time, pirates can be great. They can do great things like liberate, like Luffy. But by definitions, they are thieves. They steal and they destroy things. I think the perfect quote to end this with is exactly what Doflamingo said during Marine Ford. Are the pirates bad? Are the Marines the good guys? Things like that change with the seasons. Kids who've never known peace and kids who've never known war have completely different ideas of right and wrong.
Those at the top decide what's good and what's evil. Justice will prevail. Of course it will because the side of justice will be whichever side wins. In One Piece, the winners have been proven to be the government. In the past where they were established and recently with Marine Ford, they are the winners. In the time the story exists in, in the time AIU exists in, he is on the winning side and therefore the justice he shows is right as it represents that winning side. Akynu is absolutely horrifying, but evil, I don't think you can say that because everything points to the fact that he's just a man doing his job. He's doing his job as perfect as one can.
Even if he's bit extreme, he's still doing his job. That is his rule to be a perfect marine. And that's what he's always done. But with that, thank you so much for watching. I hope you enjoyed this video. Let me know what I should talk about next. And of course, let me know what you think of a Kynu. But with that, see you next time and bye.
