The Backrooms (2026) is a psychological horror film that explores mental health themes through a dual narrative structure, featuring a depressed furniture store owner who discovers a mysterious room in his store and a psychologist who investigates his claims; the film uses supernatural elements as manifestations of psychological states, with the mysterious creature representing the character's mental condition, though the reviewer notes it lacks replay value and may disappoint viewers expecting more traditional horror elements like blood and gore.

Backrooms (2026) Movie ReviewAdded:
Everybody, how you doing guys and gals?
Today I will be viewing the movie Backroom.
And this is a movie where I I was supposed to be based on a YouTube store or creepy pasta series what I believe in.
Um if I'm wrong I'm wrong, but let you guys know I never seen it. So I'm going judging by the movie itself.
And um reviews are mixed on this one. I had a lot of bad reviews for this and I had some positive reviews that people do actually like in their own way.
Um I'm giving you my honest review straight and I'm going to be really really straight forward with you with this one.
Um it's a try and error movie for me honestly.
It has the horror elements. It has psychological, has drama, suspense.
It makes you want to say what the [ __ ] is going on, you know? Um There's two sides of the story. There's one where you got the patient and you got the psychologist side of the movie.
You got this guy that owns a furniture store.
He's kind of like depressed I would say.
He sees a psychologist to let out his problems.
And as the movie move forward we find out that he he knows there's like this mysterious room in his own store.
And once he goes inside that room he starts seeing weird stuff.
Furniture all over the place, yellow rooms.
And then once he goes further he sees mix of rooms.
But then he goes back to the real world, tells his psychologist what he saw.
She doesn't want to believe him cuz he she really thinks he's like, "Okay, you wacked."
And then he went to the two camera crew members to come with him to this other room to to to capture the moment.
Um of course those are the two people adding into to be demise of pretty much.
And then later on the psychologist gets the phone call from the her patient from the guys and then he he's like not coming back.
So she decided to go to his store and then she end up entering the room and start seeing all this stuff going around and start meeting the guy and he realized the guy is kind of like racked out out of his mind now since he's been in the backroom too long.
And then you got this mysterious creature that will pop out.
Um all in all to fast forward man, like it's a try and error movie because one it could deal with mental health mental illness and I can relate to the male character about being like mainly by yourself, you're kind of depressed. So I kind of relate to the mental health aspects of it in my opinion.
And I also like the psychologist whole side of story when she also has her own flashback that her mom's kind of like crazy and kind of tells the story why she became a psychologist when you think about it.
Um it is a well acted movie. It is well better shot, better cinematography, better camera work.
And editing is not bad, the pacing is there too. It does stretch of course.
But um of course it's pretty obvious that the government is behind this type of project which is obvious, you can just tell.
Um I I to be honest, I think people that hated the movie the most, I think they wanted a little bit more horror. I think people might want something like Cube 1 2 and 3 and they probably think Backrooms kind of like that.
Um Backrooms could also be a a reject segment from VHS. Like people from VHS sees this movie probably saying that we don't want none of this [ __ ] You know.
Uh yeah, it kind of had that VHS feel a little bit, you know, the psychological that let me mention that. It kind of had that element like and I think VHS one of the segment was when somebody went to another world. So stuff like this is really nothing new in horror movies or suspense thriller movies like kind of like this.
It's nothing new. There's been movies like when you go to another world and you come back and then what the [ __ ] where am at?
You know?
Um There's a movie called Shirk- or Shamarvik, I think. It was a well-hated movie. Even I didn't like this movie.
I feel like this is like a better quality angle movie Shamarvik back where you can actually see things, you know?
But yeah, it's a try and error, man. It's either you're going to like it or you're not going to like it. Now, as a fast forward, as for replay value, to be honest and speaking from for myself, there's no replay value in this movie. Once you see it, then you you're one and done with it, you know? Like I said, it is a well-acted movie. I'm not going to take away from the acting.
And I do like the creature. It kind of mimics the one of the guys' character, you know? You can see like it's all in his mind, like it it manifests his mind pretty much.
That's what it looked like to me. And it does get weird and odd. And the ending is kind of messed up because the ending kind of leads up to like you're pretty much part of the backroom now.
You know, I think the back you manifest with the backroom. That's what it is to me.
Um again, for me, this is a try and error movie. Like I said, it's either you're going to like it or you don't like it. So, I'm like for me, I don't hate the movie.
I feel like maybe they could added some movie trash, kind of like cute like, you know, with some blood and gore, you know? Like yeah, why not, man? You know, go all out a little bit with this movie, but I feel like this movie wanted to go more with the psychological route.
Like I said, I never saw the YouTube shorts or the creepypasta or whatever you want to say it is.
Never seen it, so I'm judging by the movie itself. Again, it's a try and error.
Yeah, so anyway, over and out and peace, guys and gals.
