Uh it's been a while, so let's go ahead and jump back into our free people of color / indigenous surnames of the tribes of North Carolina.
So, the purpose of this, as we've been going through this, is to show the correlation of all these tribes in Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina and showing the correlation with the free people of color. So, we're we're uh seeing free people of color surnames show up in these tribes.
All right?
So, for this particular video, we are going to get into the Occaneechi Saponi and um as I've always stated before, uh that's the tribe that my family correlates with, Occaneechi, uh or excuse me, Saponi, uh Catawba, and Piscataway uh Indian tribes.
All right, y'all. So, let's go ahead and jump into this. Um as we go through this, you're going to see um same surnames that show up in these other tribes, so um yeah, let's get it.
All right, so first we're going to go with the core surnames. So, we'll go through those real quick.
Um First one we're going to do is going to be the surname Jeffries. So, let's go down to the J's.
And as you can see, we got Jeffrey and Jeffries. So, both of those correlate with the uh Occaneechi.
All right, next one is going to be Haycock. So, we can just scroll up a little bit here.
And here it is.
All right, there's Haycock. All right, next one's going to be Goings. So, um what should show up is going to be Going.
And that actually is a form of this surname. So, you're going to have Goings, Going, you're going to have Goings. So, g o i n g s. So, different spelling variations, same family.
Next one's going to be Collins. All right, so let's go scrolling up to Collins, which we have found in previous videos with other tribes. So, there it is.
Next is going to be Bunch. All right, so let's go on up here to Bunch.
And there it is.
All right, next surname's going to be Gibson.
All right, so we're going to have Since we're going to be in the G's, we'll hit Gibson. And then we're also going to find Guy.
All right, so we got Gibson. And then we have the surname Guy.
All right, next one is going to be Harris.
So, scrolling down a little bit, we got Harris right there.
Next, we got Stewart. So, Stewart should have its own section here, and there it is.
Stewart family.
All right, next we have Watkins.
All right, so Watkins is going to be right there.
Next, we got Parker.
All right, so I'm trying to get through this so we can fit it into 10-minute video.
All right, so there's Parker right there. Next is going to be Scott.
All right, so we got Scott right there.
Next one's going to be Burnett, which I'm pretty sure we've looked up before.
All right, so it's you know, you're going to have Burnett and Burnett. So, same family.
All right, next we have Chavis.
All right, so Chavis family has its own um section.
And the last one for this core section is going to be Corn.
All right, since we're already here, there's Corn.
All right, so let's get some of these other ones. We did Jeffries already, Haycock, Going, Goings, Collins, Bunch, Gibson, Guy, Harris.
Stewart.
Um I believe yep, we did Watkins, Parker, Scott.
Uh we did Burnett, Chavis.
Uh let's see, we did Corn.
See if Loggins is on here. I don't think it is, but let's check.
Loggins, Loggins, Loggins.
Okay, there it is.
All right, so again, different spelling variation.
All right, so we did Corn. Let's see, let's scroll down real quick and see if we can find Wetmore.
All right, Wetmore's going to be right there. Next one is going to be Hayes.
See we can find Hayes real quick.
Oop.
All right, Hayes H A Hayes right there.
All right, next one is going to be Pettifer.
All right, and there's Pettifer.
All right, so this next one is Okay, let's see if we can find these. So, we got Braveboy.
All right, again I'm trying to get through these kind of fast. Braveboy.
All right, next is Ransom.
All right, so we have Ransom right there.
Next one's going to be Austin. Um I looked at this earlier and I don't think Austin is in here.
And it is not.
All right, so next one's going to be Hammonds.
So, it's probably going to be Hammond with the D on the end of it. Okay, and there it is, Hammond.
All right, next one's going to be Mayo.
All right, Mayo right here.
All right, next one we got is should be Goings, but it says Coins, but I'm pretty sure it meant to say Goings.
So, we search Revels, Sweat, and Tabor.
Okay, so Revels.
All right, there's Revel.
See Sweat.
Sweat.
And then we're looking for Tabor.
All right, there it is.
All right, next one is going to be Payne, Green, and Bowling.
See Payne.
Right there.
All right, so Green.
All right, I don't see a Green.
And Bowling.
Yeah, I don't say that one either. Okay, so Brewer, I know that's not in here either.
Um, let's see Simmons and Hal.
So, I know Hal's in here for sure cuz we looked at that one previous.
Let's see Hal right there.
And Simmons.
I want to say that Brewer is probably like a Choctaw or Cherokee, maybe Chickasaw, something like that kind of name.
If I remember correctly, Simmons. Okay, Simmons. Ooh.
Simmons is right there.
All right, we did Hal. So, we got just a few more and then we'll wrap this up.
Uh, let's see. We have Coleman.
Boom.
Uh, Epps.
That should be on here as well.
Epps.
Different spelling.
Uh, next one is Martin.
All right, there's Martin.
And we have Shepherd and Tally.
All right, Shepherd. It's right there.
And I don't see a Tally.
All right, y'all. So, that should be it for the Occaneechi Saponi.
Um, again, like I said, you're going to see all these surnames just showing up over and over again.
And you know, I I feel like at this point that I mean, the proof is that uh No, we have Indian tribes here, so um definitely not pretend Indians, and we have always been here.
So, um that'll do it for this video. I appreciate every single one of y'all.
Y'all take it easy. Peace.
